- Here is a jazz bossa nova play along based on the chord changes to Kenny Dorham's song "Blue Bossa". I made it using Band In A Box and played it using my Kanstul flugelhorn.

Update: unfortunately that was her last Mother’s Day she had died from covid here recently but she loved it and clapped but a few months later her time has come to an end 🙏🏽 I miss u mama❤️
Oh my goodness. I am so sorry for your loss.
@@JeffLewisTrumpet thank you!! But my horn keeps me going❤️ thank you for this peice as it was the last gift I have ever given her
Such an amazing song I'm going to play this for my mother on monthers day so I'm most excited
Wow! I am honored!
@@JeffLewisTrumpet your most welcome wish me luck lol
@@flamzar3712 how was it
@@kevinkc_7 unfortunately she has passed away but she absolutely loved it but it was her last Mother’s Day
@@flamzar3712 gifts like that mean more to mothers than you think, you really made her day man, good job and an awesome idea
I learned to play this solo when I started playing and it was so hard. Now looking at it, I can understand how it was built and it just got very easy to play. Thanks, Jeff, when I get comfortable playing scales with some notes above the staff I'll certainly check the bebop etude
how did you manage to download it?
That is awesome!

@@JohnsonSmithson thank you! it worked already!

Thanks Jeff for this post... you're the man!

Obrigado!
de nada! obrigado por assistir o vídeo e comentar.
Thank you I’ll use these to play over Blue Bossa !
thankyou !
You're welcome!
I found this song great to practice my not-so-great jazz skills! Are there any more pieces like this one, in terms of the difficulty level? (Same or higher)
Awesome!

I am a beginner trumpet and I was wondering if you have any other recommendations for an easy jazz song to learn?
Here; are a couple of "easier" jazz standards;
Autumn Leaves, Blue Bossa, Triste, Lady Bird, Take The A Train, Tune Up, Stella by Starlight, and All The Things You Are.
@@JeffLewisTrumpet Ok, thanks for the recommendations!
How would you recommend learning Blue Bossas chords by ear?
That is a great question which also gives me an idea for another video! I always start with the bass notes first. If I can identify the root of the chord, then the notes in the melody, I can fill out the rest of the chord by ear. It takes practice , but that is my approach. I will go into more detail in a video. Thanks Luke!

hi jeff!
unfortunately the trumpet-download doesn't work, only concert!
Oops! Thanks for the heads up! I just fixed it.
@@JeffLewisTrumpet wow, thank you, that was quick! now i can practice the second page as well! :-)
Wow I love this tune sir I've been learning it for time now .. buh I've got the scores in Bb so I was trying to use the I real pro app for making the chords for this version buh ain't getting it right .. in terms of the duration.. pls could you explain how I can do that. Thanks.
Thanks! You will have to make sure that the iReal Pro chord changes are down one step from the trumpet chord changes or you will have to set your iReal Pro to "B-flat instrument".
We need accompany for playing along. Do you have it?

What’s the music of the phone one?? 😭😭 hard to search with no lyrics🙏🏻
If you’re looking for the play along track, it would be the same chord changes as “Blue Bossa”. Does that answer your question?
Searches for beginner jazz trumpet songs... Sees a high e, moves along... 🙃
Try maybe playing the high e down an octave, or maybe move much of the phrase down an octave? Let me know how it goes!
Hey very nice, but where can i find the music to play along?
Thank you! Try the link below and scroll down about half way. You should find it there.

Jeff Lewis Trumpet man great there is a back track to this song. Love the way it sounds it’s my kind of style which is why I’m gonna use it for my audition for marching band I’m a bit of a newbie to playing only have 7 months of being taught would have 11 months but the rona hit and my learning got cut a bit at school haha hope ya don’t mind
Hi Jeff. Do you have any more simple solos to standards available to watch and learn? This is absolutely what I'm looking for at the moment. I'm ready to move on from playing the melodies to something a bit more involved and this is a great next step for me. Any suggestions much appreciated! Martin
What is this piece called?
Come to think of it, I never named it! Haha!
Hello! Where can I get from backing track bossa nova ?

@@JeffLewisTrumpet Danke !!
Do you need a mute?
Only if you want.
U should write it in C minor like your playing. I learned it but when I tried to play with your music i discovered that and it was disappointing , thank u anyway
It would be easy for me to transpose a chart for you. What instrument do you play?
I just posted a copy of the music in concert pitch. You should be able to download it from my website here;

Trumpet, i'm just a beginner 😅
Thank you very much 😁😁
You are welcome!
Jeff any chance you could put fingering above notes in your pieces for absolute idiotic beginners like me?
I don’t normally do that just because I don’t have my students do it either. My thought is you’ll end up reading the numbers and not the actual notes. I do have this for you if that helps;
www.jefflewistrumpet.com/trumpet-fingering-chart/
Thanks for the advice, yeah you are right about the numbers not the notes thing. Thanks for the chart, not played in about 3 years but nearly got through this piece in two days. Can't practice for that long before my lips give out.@@JeffLewisTrumpet
