    The south with its humidity really needs a PW test garden and more humid and night heat tolerant plant creations. We are so limited but we love plants. Hoping one day more focus will be on the south as it is for the north.

      We do have trialing sites throughout the south and are working to get better traits for southern plants ☺Things like disease resistance, hardiness, better sizing are a few of the traits we're looking to achieve 🤗

    I live in Tallahassee Fl. I have Endless Summer, which never re-blooms, has brown spots on leaves, small poor growth. Big Daddy has done well under oak trees with irrigation. No pests with Big Daddy., flowers well. Just got a Broomstick, just one to see how it does. Come plant stuff in my yard. If it can grow here, it’s a winner. My yard is where plants come to die. The deer do eat them.

    I would love if you would have quickly talked about how/when to prune each of these as you walked by (for example, the Let’s Dance Lovable hydrangeas!

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  4 місяці тому

      Thank you for the feedback! For Let's Dance Lovable pruning is not generally recommended. Although its flower buds are formed on both old wood and new wood, any cuts will impact its flowering potential. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time, just cut back to a set of leaves. If you’d like to prune to shape the plant, this can be done when the plant is starting to break dormancy in early spring or late winter, just look for swelling green leaf buds. Deadheading can be done after bloom, just follow the stem down to the first set of leaves and cut ¼ of an inch above them.

    Pleasant surprise to wake up to a day early here in Adelaide South Australia. Megan's new Hydrangea release for 2024.... Question..... I'm interested to know the actual PH of that soil to get those beautiful purple blooms?

    • @kerryjean2223
      @kerryjean2223 Рік тому

      OK.... Is it nothing to do with the PH and everything to do with aluminium present in the soil!?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Рік тому

      @@kerryjean2223 Great question, Kerry! In order to get blue flowers on a hydrangea, the soil must both contain aluminum and be acidic. We have a video you can check out on this topic, ua-cam.com/video/336xoZsTpa0/v-deo.html 🤗☀

    At Last is hardy rose, keep blooming all seasons, sweet fragrance. The only thing I personally dislike is the bloom doesn’t keep long on the stems. It last only two days. So sad…

    Can that El Niño desert orchid be chelsea chopped? It seems like a lot of plant for just one bloom at the tip.

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it could be! However, there wouldn't be much of a benefit from that as they are woody so they don't need stronger stems and it blooms continuously. If you check out this link you can see that there are typically more blooms on the entire plant ☺www.mypwcolorchoices.com/product/el-nino-desert-orchid/

    The Miss Molly butterfly bush looks gorgeous. Do you cut it back in the winter or does it grow old wood? It is on the list for 2024 Spring planting if I can find it or else I will order online . Thanks

    I think heat this summer slowed a lot of plants down from typical growth and bloom. My Mexican Sunflower was my biggest disappointment few blooms and sided off by September. The dwarf variety I was disappointed in I did get a few blooms but not as dense and prolific as park seed advertised

      Yes, you can! Both of those hydrangeas are hardy to USDA zone 9. I would recommend adding a 2-3" layer of mulch and keeping them well-watered while they get established ☺

    Omg I love hydrangeas. The only bad thing is that I live in California in the valley and it’s very hard for them to bloom here they usually just die. They don’t last long when we used to live next to the ocean they thrived they were beautiful and now it just breaks my heart that I cannot have hydrangeas in my garden and I love those flowers. Your garden is beautiful. I wish I could move out of this horrible place and live where I could plant hydrangeas all around my house that would be the happiest day of my life to see hydrangeas all around.😮❤💐😢

    The Center Stage Crape Myrtle is supposed to grow to a height of 12'. Would it get that tall and wide in a zone 6a environment? Winters here can be quite harsh. Thanks for this tour and information! I've found the Hydrangea Loveables available at a nursery and didn't realize they were a brand new hydrangea for next year.

    The PW ColorChoice host's use of the current slang, "off the chain," was somewhat startling.
    A friendly admonition. I adore the channel -- Proven Winners performs fabulous and very valuable work and gorgeous, superbly performing plants.
    The origin is offensive & hurtful and I'm certain she would never choose to utilize it had she known.
    She might wish to research the origin + meaning of that phrase prior to using it in this venue.

      Thank you so much for this, we so appreciate you letting us know. We are always trying to make our language kinder and more inclusive and we certainly did not know the origin/connotation of that phrase. We would never intentionally say something hurtful or harmful. Thank you again, we will continue to learn and grow! ❤
