This is definitely a unique kitchen, especially the induction stove. I was curious how someone would be able to incorporate induction into their kitchen ever since I watched your first video about induction cooking.
If you're not trying to remodel. First check if you have pots and pans that would work. And then you can get 1 of those single movable burners, like what he has for his wok, but flat.
Thank you! I’d wondered during your live this morning on TT about why you went with an electric cook top and now I am informed. I am relatively new to you but definitely a fan. I will definitely continue to follow you across platforms. Thanks again ❤
I’d love to know more about that range hood, it’s beautiful and the colour compliments the green oven so well. As someone that’s yet to have the opportunity to design my own kitchen I’m curious how it came to be, is it something you can just order or does it have to be custom made?
With the induction wok, can you lift the wok off the burner and toss the food as is common with wok cooking, then put the wok back down onto the burner and have it continue cooking seemlessly? The reason for my question is that with many induction surfaces, the burner will turn off automatically if it doesn't sense a pan, and you have to manually turn on the burner again.
I was thinking Gas Free Kitchen as in Gear Acquisition Syndrome free kitchen... Glad to see all the gear and options because I feel a little justified in all of the purchases :P
Love your electric kitchen and i think you're right that totay there are perfectly good electric options for cooking but personally i prefer gas because I don't need to rely on the power grid and i can cook even if there is an outage But, knowing that you live in a city and not deep in the country, your choice is understandable
Hey there could you do a video on your Wok - seasoning, maintenance, and cooking basics? I got the same one because of that short you made a while back. Everytime after I season it, it will eventually fail and rust. I tried various methods of seasoning and it seems like the problem is that while I'm cooking, my metal spatula chips the polimerized seasoning and exposes the metal? Not sure but my first cook after seasoning is perfect but each one after is worst until everything is sticking and burning. Would love to learn from your expirences with this tool. Thank you!
Nice setup! You may consider adding UHMW-tape to your cabinet drawers. It's cheap and will really cutdown on friction and the resultant sound as you open them. If you want a more old school approach you could instead lubricate the runners with beeswax.
I've never had any bad experience with electrical burners going worse than any horror story outcome I've seen or heard about _open flame_ gas burning stoves.
I'll confess: AGAs have ALWAYS bothered me because of their whole "have to be running at full blast 24/7, 365" angle- but then, I'm a skinflint wrt to energy expenses
The newer all-electric AGA range series (eR7) is does not have to be left on. It also has a TouchPad control to individually turn on whichever area you use instead of heating up the entire unit like it does for the other model you're referring to. Game changer!
My husband is from the UK and he could not deal with the slowness of U.S. tea kettles. He bought a European kettle, changed the plug and we upgraded one outlet in the kitchen. It's so useful to have that upgrade available and of course, for as much as we use our kettle, it's totally worth it.
@@kimiya777 There's a difference between electric kettles in the US vs the UK. The difference difference really starts in the countries electrical grids and ends up in the kettles. The US standard is 120V and the UK standard is 240V, that means that UK kettles can be (and in fact are) designed to use more electricity in order to heat things faster, about twice as fast.
@kimiya777 It is how much power an outlet can provide which determines how quickly a kettle can boil - not the voltage. Power is voltage multiplied by how many amps the outlet can provide. In the US, a 15A outlet can only provide around 1700 Watts, and a 20A outlet 2200 Watts, while a typical UK (and European) outlet can provide around 3000 Watts Electric kettles in the UK are typically between 2200 watts and 3000 Watts.
I added a portable induction burner to my 1940’s era kitchen, and I have NOT been disappointed. It’s been GREAT, and I love that we can still see glimpses of Mochi’s greatness in the new space. The best DOG!
Yes, cool indeed. But will it convey the wok hay needed in most chinese cuisine. I'm stubborn not because of the convection stove, but the price of electricity is relatively higher in my country. Even some laundry owners use gas to power the dryer.
@@senadzri Solar panels could be an option. Wouldn't need an expensive setup just for a stove. If you want wok hei, just use a handheld torch and torch the food gently from above--it's the combustion of oil particulates that gives the wok hei flavor
As a cook you made a kitchen that supports all kind of cooking at home, much alike me, being it specialist, having a computing setup that is quite unique too. Well done 👍
I finally have answers. I’ve been wondering about the AGA. My dad’s ex-wife had a gas version and I was not a fan. Does the induction/electric version give off as much ambient heat as the gas version?
Just a warning for anyone who might have a pacemaker or live with someone who does: Induction is NOT SAFE for people living with this condition. I may have missed it in the video, but figured it would be a nice warning to anyone considering making the move.
Very cool! I love your explanation for the oven, and I generally find myself using my oven that way - a specific temperature isn't necessary, but a temperature range for a specific purpose is. Thank you for sharing this!
You'd mentioned induction cooking before, and at the time, I didn't think much about it. After watching this, I'm strongly considering moving forward with induction. Aside from that, I enjoyed the tour of your unique setup :)
I am sure you’re already aware, but induction requires induction compatible cookware. With induction you also lose out on techniques like charring or flambéing. It’s definitely not the best option, but it is an option.
Fighting the good fight against the gas industry's crap. I didn't expect to see an AGA in an American kitchen. I thought they were very much a British obsession. Do you use it in standard "always on" mode or use the programmable features? EDIT: also showing off the aga is a rapper level flex but in a super subtle way. Bravo.
Sweet setup brother! Use it it good health- looking forward to 2023 and beyond with you! P.S.- the oven reminds me of the ones in Britain I’ve seen with the “hobs”-very cool 😎.

Question about the wok induction burner: is yours carbon steel or another type of wok? I'm pretty convinced to switch to electric based on this video. Thank you and your kitchen is beautiful.
I love my induction cooktop! We have a slide in glasstop range with a convection oven....so, we had an induction dropin cooktop added to our island. I love it so much! Induction is soo fast! Its also handy to have 2 cooktops to use during holidays!
I grew up in a electric only house, and now live in a condo where it's all electric as well... Gas appliances scare me, I've also heard too many stories of gas leaks and people almost dying or dying in their homes..terrifying
Why are there 3 soap dispensers (what's in them)? Is the black on the wall behind the stove and faucet - tile? How do you dry your dishes? I want to know everything 😭
As someone who has had both an induction(new), gas(very old) and electric(mondernish) kitchen. I would take the old gas kitchen anyday. That stove was literally older than me and performed better than any induction range I have used. I wish induction was as good as he says but in my experience its just a better version of electric which is not better than gas.
THANK YOU!!! I love your oven and now I want one when I get to pick what goes in my future kitchen! I love the doors and style of it. Thank you for sharing!

They've always appealed to me, the prospect of having one that is also environmentally friendly would be big for my future (assuming I could ever afford one!!!). I heard a few years ago about using them as energy storage units, in order to distribute electricity load throughout the day (for example, heating up when there is low energy cost/low grid load, and then using that heat to be able to cook with later in the day), I don't know if that is a factor? I've also heard rumblings about hooking them up to a Stirling engine for a similar process to the way that people use their electric cars as batteries for their house. I could never find an update on that idea, but it would be cool.
