  • The Bible has a lot to say about spiritual beings, both good and evil. However, many of us are very uncomfortable thinking about the spiritual forces, especially demons and "the satan." Additionally, there is confusion about how Christians are supposed to engage in spiritual warfare and what that entails. This episode of the Radically Christian Bible Study Podcast aims to address these perplexing issues and provide biblical insight into this often-misunderstood aspect of the Christian faith.
Eric Ramsur and Wes McAdams the biblical narrative, starting from the creation account in Genesis, and explore the concept of the divine council, where God interacts with other spiritual beings called "Elohim." The conversation also examines the rebellion of some of these beings against God's authority and their subsequent influence on humanity and the nations. Furthermore, the episode sheds light on the role of Satan, the accuser, and the reality of demonic forces as presented in both the Old and New Testaments. Practical guidance is offered on how we can engage in spiritual warfare by aligning ourselves with the Holy Spirit.
The guest for this episode is Eric Ramseur. He and his wife, Brianna, have four children. They reside in Virginia Beach and love working with the church for its growth and mending relationships in their community. Eric's deep understanding of Scripture and his passion for exploring the often-overlooked aspects of the biblical narrative make him an excellent guide through this complex and fascinating topic.

I found this PodCast extremely interesting and unsettling. I've had the same "Sethist" viewpoint of Genesis 6 for 25 years, but this has shaken my world and biblical view, especially my OT reading. I recently purchased the book, "The Unseen Realm" and I'm reading/listening to The Book of Enoch, simultaneously. @capiseric, any other works you might recommend?

It was good to be reminded of all those evil powers who ARE there every day in our world. It is easy to see just people, and not realize they are under the power of the devil. I appreciate the study you gentlemen have put into this heavy topic, so that you can share that knowledge with the rest of us.

Thanks for bringing up Isaiah 59. Paul knew his scriptures. Most people don't notice that Paul was quoting Isaiah 59 in Ephesians 6 for the armour of God.

This is something that needs to be talked about more. I taught a class on the devil demons and angels a little over a year ago and that got the ball rolling for me. Then I was introduced to Dr Michael Heiser and from then on you will never read the bible the same. Reversing Hermon is another great read by Mike.

Thank you for this lesson - Christians need to wake up to the spiritual battles that are around them. When you start looking at life through this spiritual lense, it changes the way to interact with life.

I was struck by the fact the Jesus fasting for 40 days prepared him in his encounter with Satan in additioan to use of scripture.

I really like Eric. Thank you for this Wes.
I just want to clarify because I think Eric misspoke. Eric is correct that the definite article does not go with names in Hebrew. However, he said that was true with Greek as well. That is not correct. The article can be used with names in Greek.

You're right. I did misspeak. The article is often found with Jesus' name. Thanks!

@@capiseric no problem. I do that all the time when I am speaking. Sometimes the brain moves faster than the mouth and things get messed up. I really enjoyed the podcast though.
