I am an 8 handicap and I have played the previous model Launcher XL driver for the past 2 seasons. I have a naturally low-spinning swing and I can regularly get 160mph ball speeds with around 1800-2200 spin on good strikes. I feel like Cleveland is an extremely underrated brand for us average players and I'm happy to see their new line looks as good as the previous one
Humble 19 hcp there. Play the Launcher XL driver too and love it, especially its penetrating trajectories. Looking now for the XL2 but not sure it's worth the change.
Couldn't agree more. I've tried all the big-name drivers - Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping et al. There's a reason I was buying a new driver every other year...because I wasn't hitting those as consistently as I thought I should - or as they'd been advertised. Last year, demoed 7 or 8 new drivers and settled on the XL Lite Launcher and LOVE IT. I don't see me w/ a new driver any time soon.
I'm glad it's cheaper than the other big releases, but it's still more than I would ever think to plop down for one club. On the other end of the spectrum, I snagged a mint condition TaylorMade R9 460 (circa 2009?) for about $50 a couple months ago and promptly hit my first ever 300 yard drive with it. YMMV.
I could tell that it just felt so easy to hit. You got it off the wrap adjusted the loft and bammmmm! Forgiving big head, light shaft at 55 g I think. Why make the game any harder?? Awesome vid James.
I bought last year's Cleveland Launcher XL (for under $350 on special) and I love it. I've never really got on well with any driver, to be honest, and for many years I've used my 3 wood to drive off the Tee. Since buying the Cleveland, I've been far more confident and willing to give it a go and have hit some of the longest and best drives of my life. Very underrated brand and I feel sorry for anyone who spends between $700 and $900 for a driver, when they could get the Launcher for under $500.
These are great drivers. I have the XL from 2022. Spent some time on the fitting sim today comparing my XL to the new XL2. Club head speed is identical. Spin identical. Carry identical. Total identical. Dispersion was slightly better with the XL2. Both clubs had the exact same Tensei Blue shaft and both set to 10 degrees. Based on the numbers, I decided to stay with the older XL for now. There was no difference in the numbers, at least not enough to warrant an upgrade for now. What I did find was that there is a higher level of forgiveness in the XL2, with toe and heel shots gaining 10-15 yards over the same shots on the XL. For anyone looking for a very easy, very accurate driver and is on a budget, this is the club to get.
Definitely resemble a TaylorMade SiM. I really like that look. Haven't had the pleasure of hitting a Cleveland driver yet, but hope to get my hands on one soon!
Yes, James, great review. But I would bet 100% it doesn't go in your bag!... Gary Martin is as frugal as a Yorkshire man too, and he wouldn't put it in his bag as his gamer either.....
I used the launcher 20 years ago when vj played it , I demoed heaps of drivers back then to make a final purchase, and Cleveland was my choice, played for a few years, no problems at all, would love to try this new one bit unfortunately out here in Australia nobody puts them for demo days, they have fine products, and my wife needs new irons, and Cleveland new ones sound great , as well
Cleveland is underrated so I’m happy to see this review. I plan on testing this driver against some of the other new releases. I don’t have much experience with Cleveland drivers but I love their wedges, woods and hybrids.
I think Cleveland is one of the most underrated brands on the market, especially with their Launcher line of irons as drivers, and their HB Soft putters. I’m a mid-high handicap and I’ve dropped 5 strokes in a year switching to their irons.
James and Chris, you guys are killing it. My favorite channels. Honest, low key reviews and content for the 98% of us that are not scratch golfers. (This from a 7 handicapper) Keep up the great content!
I recently put a Grafalloy prolaunch red shaft in my Srixon zx7 mkii driver.. Soooo much better than the stock shaft. Can’t wait for the weather to break
I got the previous model in the Lite version so non-adjustable head but really liking it alongside the 5 wood in the same range, and my launcher irons and CBX wedges. Paid £160 for the new driver in the sales. I appreciate there’s adjustability and the tech may have developed further with this new version but they’d hit the sweet spot if this was priced closer to £300 (which is already too high for most of us).
Had a Clevland driver along time ago hit it very well . Some of the longest drives I ever hit but something else caught my eye and I was struggling with so I made the change to the SLDR .Probably should have stayed with the Clevland . Now I play the g425 max .
This one looks really good. I tested the previous model agains the Wilson Dynapower and the PXG 0311 gen 5. The Cleveland was the shortest/spinniest, and highest launch angle. I went for the PXG, 14degree launch angle 2400 spin at 95-100mph clubhead speed, with 135-145mph ball speed; ideal numbers for me.
I have a Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo, released about 2019, bought new in 2021 just as new one was being released then. Bargain price then, about equivalent £180. Superb club, can't knock it at all. Just bought 2 of their hybrids for the price of 1 Ping hybrid- tried both together and they were so similar it was crazy to buy the Ping. Only thing different is the Cleveland has no adjustment on the hozel. (Hit driver about 270yd carry)
I ordered one without ever hitting it because I have a connection where I'll get it less than half retail, so I figure it's a no brainer. I hope I like it better than my Taylor Made M5.
I have a Cleveland Launcher Halo XL 3 hybrid I really like, as well as RTX Zipcore full face wedges. (54*&58*) I traded in some old clubs for a new Cleveland Launcher XL driver from Play it Again Sports, got it home and realized it was a one inch longer shaft. I’ll probably just try to order a 3 wood shaft with the Cleveland attachment and try that out, it was only meant as a try it out driver anyway because I liked the 3 hybrid so much. Game a cobra speedzone extreme.
I got fitted for thr cleveland launcher xl irons and I have been very impressed by them. I definitely would consider this but maybe in about a year or so when they go on clearance. I am a budget golfer but For the price I think I would rather just have last year's paradym
I’d love to see you put this up against my launcher comp, carbon crown when all the big boys still had steel shafts. No adjustment and an absolute rocket!!!! Light years ahead of it’s time!!!! Will beat all the new s&@t
Honestly, I think it’s the best looking driver of the year. The sound is hard to get over, I have a Srixon ZX-7 driver and the sounds are very similar; outside is fine, but bring ear plugs for indoors or simulators 😅
This review sheds light on how good this club is, but you are leaving out important information which could make a huge difference in people deciding to give it a try. They are offering some really nice alternative shafts at no upcharge. You're giving your opinion on spin with the stock shaft which is a mid spin shaft. They offer some of the PX shafts and others in the Tensei line like the White at no upcharge. The Tensei White would give much better numbers if you were looking to lower spin.
I have never tried their woods or hybrids BUT have used their XL Halo irons for some time until I got my Stealth HD irons. Have always used Taylormade hybrids and woods
Not that I am interested in it, but I just wondered if you still test drivers? I keep seeing this SF1 slice fix driver on Facebook. Would love to see you test it.
Eccuberate??? Did you perhaps mean accentuate ?? Cleveland has made very nice user friendly drivers for ages. Great value new ,,and even better on the second hand market.
I still play the TA5 irons. Also have the Cleveland Quadpro 8.5 but that thing is so small today, I had to switch to a knockoff. Sucks being poor and not getting every club to try out and put in your bag. Been looking to get a name brand driver this year though and have always liked cleveland. Does this driver slice or is that just your typical shot profile? I have a fade to a slice so would like something that can take a bit of that away.
Every year, I get fired up about the new drivers. I take my SIM 2 driver in for a comparison and always walk away with it still on the bag. I this the year of change with the new 10k angle?
Play the previous XL for a year now and like you will not change for this one as the only difference I see is their price. And did I said that I love my driver?
Can't seem to fault it for the price. However, like all modern drivers the head cover does nothing for protecting the shaft from scuffing in the bag. Maybe you and/or Chris can do a video to find out why they (all major golf companies) no longer offer head covers with a sock to protect the shaft? As a result I never use the modern head covers, which degrades the marketing message they want as no-one knows what's in the bag until the head cover is removed. Also Your measurements at 9:11 show it's for the Cleveland driver (top right text), but the table and the numbers are for the Qi10 Pro Launch Blue? Can you clarify please?
Go to the previous XL driver. I use it for a year now and love it. Plus I don't see a real difference with the XL2 but it's price dropped to around $250 in the US (£198) so its a true bargain! As an 18 Hcp, I play Halo hybrids, CBX zipcore wedges and have a lovely HB Soft Milled 4 putter 😀
Not a fan of the sound. I prefer to hear a smack, not a ding! Its the same price (if not more) than the a new Sim2 Max, Cobra Aeroject, Wilson Dynapower, Callaway Mavrik and Rogue, Srixon ZX5 and ZX7. Lots of competition in this price range.
Let's be honest though james your not going to put a Cleveland in the bag. I definitely like your honest opinions on all clubs especially on the new hyped up clubs. Helps me NOT just go in to buy new ones. But your not going to use the launcher lol... prove me wrong ;)
I had the 2008 Cleveland launcher in my bag for 12 years. Loved that club. My next driver was the the launcher HB which was great and hit well (carry was average 280) I recently decided to go with the cobra Speedzone which I hit well as well. But Cleveland is always forgot about but I don’t know why there isn’t as much love.
This might be below the price of some others but the moment you say ‘get fitted’ - that’s where the cost goes up. I have just been fitted for a driver and i have no change out of £750.00 for one club. You cannot get fitted and keep the cost down in my experience. Tell me otherwise…..!!!
Had Cleveland driver years ago. The sound truly gave me a nasty headache one day, never hit it again. Don't know why Cleveland can't figure out that the sound of their drivers is an aweful "show stopper".
LOL, of course it's not the longest you hit because it's snowing outside and the ball a d club face won't be springy for ball speed. Why didn't you hit it in the simulator????
Funny how James talks about white headcovers while wearing white shoes 😂😂😂. Love the reviews though. Would love to see you get some of your higher handicap golfer friends to try these clubs not all of us have yours or Chris' ball striking abilities 😢
Golf clubs are so expensive yes I know they spend a lot into R&D but surely if they sell them couple hundred quid cheaper more people will buy them especially as every year they bring out so called better and forgiving clubs which only people with cash on the hip or golf snobs can afford, I’m 70 when I retired last year I treated myself to new clubs well two or three years old.
£400 is still not cheap, just because the big brands have driven The pricing up over the last few years, does not mean they are value for money. Like many they will be better value in 12-18 months time
Agree, it's a little bit too expensive. There's no real difference with the previous XL but the price of this last dropped to $250 in the US, that's about £198 in the UK. A no brainer.
Cleveland,Srixon and wilson all underated
Cleveland though are Srixon.
Tour edge can be added to list
Mizuno too
Not underrated… under-budgeted for marketing. HUUUUUUGE and fundamentally different.
@@andybt3989they’re all Dunlop really

I'm glad it's cheaper than the other big releases, but it's still more than I would ever think to plop down for one club.
On the other end of the spectrum, I snagged a mint condition TaylorMade R9 460 (circa 2009?) for about $50 a couple months ago and promptly hit my first ever 300 yard drive with it. YMMV.

Forgiving big head, light shaft at 55 g I think. Why make the game any harder?? Awesome vid James.
I use to play a Cleveland Classic XL driver and loved it. Been playing a Srixon Z785 driver for past 5 seasons. There drivers are underrated!
U use Srixon irons?
Cleveland Launcher drivers are the only ones I use. I played the 03' 460ti for 20 years!!! Ordered the XL2 last week!
I bought last year's Cleveland Launcher XL (for under $350 on special) and I love it. Thank you James, first review of this driver I’ve seen. I love and use Cleveland wedges and keen to try this driver
Yes, James, great review. But I would bet 100% it doesn't go in your bag!... Gary Martin is as frugal as a Yorkshire man too, and he wouldn't put it in his bag as his gamer either.....

Cleveland is underrated so I’m happy to see this review. I plan on testing this driver against some of the other new releases. I don’t have much experience with Cleveland drivers but I love their wedges, woods and hybrids.
My favorite club is my full face 56 Cleveland wedge. It bites hard with no effort.
I think Cleveland is one of the most underrated brands on the market, especially with their Launcher line of irons as drivers, and their HB Soft putters.
I’m a mid-high handicap and I’ve dropped 5 strokes in a year switching to their irons.
James, i have just bought the 2022 XL lite 12* and my drives are super straight, great club, and yes it is loud. But ideal for me.
James and Chris, you guys are killing it. My favorite channels. Honest, low key reviews and content for the 98% of us that are not scratch golfers. (This from a 7 handicapper) Keep up the great content!

You can adjust the normal last one, I have it and it’s a beast

FYI When you showed the numbers the label was QI 10
I'm going to look into this driver. Thanks for the review
If I was in the market for a new driver I would try this. Also the Mizuno with the white paint! Really miss my old Taylormade with the white finish!
I have a Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo, released about 2019, bought new in 2021 just as new one was being released then. Bargain price then, about equivalent £180. Superb club, can't knock it at all. Share the connect lol!!! For real though lol
I still have my Launcher DST in 8 degrees, thing is a beast.

This is a driver that I have been wanting to see reviewed!
me too. I have the Hy-Wood and its a weapon. Easy to hit, much easier than a typical 3 wood.
I got fitted for thr cleveland launcher xl irons and I have been very impressed by them. I definitely would consider this but maybe in about a year or so when they go on clearance. I am a budget golfer but For the price I think I would rather just have last year's paradym

Great description of a little cheaper driver. Love your videos and appreciate the insights.
Most videos of any UA-cam golfer.
Keep them coming!
ive had one since march , ive had all the ping tayloremade stuff £500 ish this drive is the best ive ever owned . as easy to use as it gets
mine was xl light not ajustable £199 clarks golf
Honestly, I think it’s the best looking driver of the year. The sound is hard to get over, I have a Srixon ZX-7 driver and the sounds are very similar; outside is fine, but bring ear plugs for indoors or simulators 😅

Now we're talking 💪💪 shame people don't test or buy ...maybe not enough people stock them
I'm still playing Cleveland blades driver looks class.
Proves that's James needs a more forging driver instead of these low spin fade machines 👀👀👀👀 always thought that
Cleveland’s adjustable loft sleeve is by far the absolute best on the market.
Looks nice, numbers are not too bad and the review was awesome once again
I have never tried their woods or hybrids BUT have used their XL Halo irons for some time until I got my Stealth HD irons. Have always used Taylormade hybrids and woods
The woods and hybrids are the most forgiving on the market. They are amazing.
New Cleveland range look great and will be trying their irons and woods. Will you test the newcCleveland irons?
Thanks again for the review. I look forward to them everyday.
Not as bad as the 1st gen of the Ping 430, so it's fine. Can't wait for your Cleveland/Srixon irons. Is there a low spin model in the rotation?
I bought the launcher xl lite last september and I fucking love it! Would be amazing to test the new one.
If Cleveland spent half as much as the big boys they’d be just as popular. Very underrated
Cleveland are very underated I play with there irons and love tham and have a 3 wood as well
Not that I am interested in it, but I just wondered if you still test drivers? I keep seeing this SF1 slice fix driver on Facebook. Would love to see you test
it.
I play last years Launcher XL, wonder if I’ll notice any difference between the two.
Loved my old Launcher driver 🏌🏼♂️
Eccuberate??? Did you perhaps mean accentuate ?? Cleveland has made very nice user friendly drivers for ages. Great value new ,,and even better on the second hand market.

Sim 2 takes some beating, last really good TM driver
Maybe an upgrade on the shaft??
I’m still playing my Cleveland hd turbo and don’t think I’m changing
Play the previous XL for a year now and like you will not change for this one as the only difference I see is their price. And did I said that I love my driver?
Question I just purchased the last model. How does this compare to last year's.
Use cleveland wedges and this certainly looks good cheers sir
Please review the Adams Idea driver. Thank you.
I would be open trying Cleveland as they offer good value for money.
Can you please review the Adams Idea driver. Thank you.
You should do a comparison with the ZX 5 which is the big cousin of the XL 2.
Hopefully you can do a review of the new hywood
Can't seem to fault it for the price. However, like all modern drivers the head cover does nothing for protecting the shaft from scuffing in the bag. Maybe you and/or Chris can do a video to find out why they (all major golf companies) no longer offer head covers with a sock to protect the shaft? That looked like a 55g shaft, probably less spin at your speed if you had it heavier.?
I have a Cleveland driver a long time ago but maybe its time to look at them again. I just hope the price is pretty decent.
I play the Cleveland Launcher UHX irons love them, CBX2 wedges love them as well. So this may be a good idea to look at them
Go to the previous XL driver.
I wanted to hit the Kirkland but couldn't get the head cover off...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha yes your right James £399 is now considered a budget offering 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 buy it in 6 months be work £200
Well done James 👏 😊
if you play fade that blue shaft is a spinner.....ive seen other reviews people playing baby draws spin hovers around 2000
First Swing Drive was pretty Impressive..
Only the sound puts me off, what bag is that James?
What were the numbers?
Have you (or would you ever) test the XXIO driver and irons?
2:21 exuberate means to express joy
Hopefully you will be doing a review on the new ZIpCore irons. For some reason they have my full attention!
same.
I bought a set a few weeks ago. Very solid feeling irons really like them. Very forgiving on poor strikes
Let's be honest though james your not going to put a Cleveland in the bag. I definitely like your honest opinions on all clubs especially on the new hyped up clubs. Helps me NOT just go in to buy new ones. But your not going to use the launcher lol... prove me wrong ;)

But Cleveland is always forgot about but I don’t know why there isn’t as much love.
I’ve been using a Cleveland putter since the middle of last summer. Such a good putter massively underrated brand
I just bought one purely based on price for performance
looks alright, does sound a tad loud though
Put the Qi10 numbers up
You should do a value driver comparo
This might be below the price of some others but the moment you say ‘get fitted’ - that’s where the cost goes up. I have just been fitted for a driver and i have no change out of £750.00 for one club. You cannot get fitted and keep the cost down in my experience. Tell me otherwise…..!!!
Performance looks quite good but the sound is horrendous.
Looks good and price is a plus
Great review...
Try the mizuno st max
I love a loud driver, why spend £500 on a “polite” one?

I still play the Cleveland VAS (ugliest clubs to win a major!)
I got a notice you wanted to talk to me about clubs? Is this really you or a scam?
"More cowbell!"
