I’m not a big fan of AI in general, but it looks like Apple is doing its level headed best to deploy some useful features. The Photos Clean-Up tool is remarkable. Thank you for this detailed review of Apple Intelligence as it stands now. 👍🏻
Yeah there’s been some questionable uses of AI recently. But overall I do like Apple’s approach being as on-device as possible, and not using it to completely change a photo. Just some tidying up on distractions. Will be interesting to see where we are in 12 months!
Welcome back and Happy New Year, Jack! Photos clean up a plus. Was Photos “Retouch” removed? Re caricatures “haunting” your dreams, the images remind of characture artists (real humans) who note and emphasize features. Have you ever had one drawn for yourself? Not a fan of text re-write stuff - IMO, we should master English well enough to write reasonably well, in our own styles. Cheers!
Thanks Paul, Happy New Year! Photos didn’t have a Retouch tool before. iPhoto on the Mac had it many years ago but was then replaced by the Photos app without the Retouch. Yeah I agree, the AI images look like caricatures! And no, never had one done by an artist haha ✌🏻
I found ever since I activated Apple Intelligence on my iPhone 15 Pro. My battery life has taken a hit. I used to be able to last seven in the morning until 8 PM and my daily iPhone use. Now I’m running out of battery power around 5:00 PM. I turned off Apple Intelligence and got my battery life back. I just updated it to 18.2.1 hopefully that would do better in extending my battery life to where it should be (FYI, I have my phone set not to listen for hey Sir). I updated to 18.2.1 as soon as it came out and I have had Apple Intelligence off since that update. Tomorrow I’ll try turning up on intelligence back on since this update.
I’ve not had any battery drain, unless I get sucked in by Genmoji and start generating the most random emoji… Then it does heat up and start to eat through battery life. Could be an optimisation bug with the 15 Pro!
I've seen some absolute weird 'summaries' of BBC news headlines. Some of them outright wrong or even the opposite of what the headline actually is. I'm not surprised the BBC aren't happy.
Yeah it’s pretty bad for some. The words used in headlines are very carefully chosen, so I just don’t think AI should be getting involved for news apps!
I use an Android as my primary phone but always keep an iPhone as well. I have found most of Apple Intellegence to be underwhelming or horribly implemented but , I must admit, the photo editing is very good... maybe even better than Google or Samsung. I do appreciate the "on device" bit on iPhone as well.
The Clean Up tool feels like magic haha, I’ve thrown some tricky images at it and been very impressed with how it handles things. On-device is appreciated for privacy, and even when a request does need to be sent to Apple’s servers they’re taking a lot of steps to protect user privacy. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻
