I was about to just go for it and figure this out for myself and then decided to google for tips and your video came up and just made my life so much easier! 😆 thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you for this video. I love your videos. I used this technique this past weekend and it came out awesome. I added neon glow colors to the buttercream and it actually glowed under a black light.
Fantastic I love this. I have seen cakes with a white background but I think the black is the best shows up the colours more. Thank you for sharing. Perth WA
Hi Karolyn! Thanks for this video! Are you refrigerating your cake after splattering with the buttercream? I'm afraid to do so with the fondant! Also -- can I use italian meringue instead of american?
Hi Patrice! I refrigerate all of my cakes, buttercream and fondant. In the hotter months, I make sure the A/C in my house (and my car for deliveries) is on BLAST. So I don't really have any issues. It may sweat a little, but nothing too bad. I actually have never worked with Italian meringue before. I know it doesn't crust, so I'm not sure if that would be an issue. However, I do believe it stands up well in the heat. So if you try it, please let me know how it turns out!
Hello! This video was very helpful ty!! I do have a question though. I colored my buttercream with the neon colors and then added a little bit of water and so my buttercream now looks like it separated. Why is that and is that normal? Lol maybe its my buttercream recipe that made it seperate? Thank you in advance!
When I add water to this, it does separate a little. I just keep mixing it until it incorporates together. You have to find a happy medium, there's a fine line between too much water and not enough!
I've used candy melts for splatter before worked perfect as well. But I wonder if I use buttercream like you do, how can I get it to glow in the dark? Do you think maybe tonic water would help?
I covered the cake in fondant. Whenever I have to have a dark colored background, I always cover it in fondant. (I believe I explain that at the end of the video.) Hope that helps!
That is just the most coolest, funnest thing ever. But Oh My Gosh! The clean up! Fun times!
Yeah, I try to do this near the end of my week when I have to clean the whole kitchen 😂
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Buttercream icing watered down worked beautifully!
Yay!! You're welcome!
A great way to work out frustration and have fun at the same time. Love this.
It really is! 😂😂
Thank you! It worked perfectly!

Hi, thanks for sharing, really amazing 🥰, did you use american butter cream for the splatter?
Hi Claudia! Yes, I use American Buttercream. I linked my video with the recipe in the description!
Wow that is so amazing 💞💞 thanks for the technic.
You are so welcome!

I haven't made glow in the dark icing, but I do believe that if you add tonic water to your buttercream that it will glow in the dark!
I love your channel
Thank you! 🥰🥰
Is there a way to make it glow in the dark?
Look up Rolkem Lumo Glow. I haven't tried it yet, but I heard it's great for glow in the dark!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
How many layers each cake has!
The bottom is a double barrel cake, so that has 6 layers. Top tier has 4 layers.
How did you get the fondant such a dark shade of black? Does it taste funny or stain teeth?
I covered the cake in fondant. Whenever I have to have a dark colored background, I always cover it in fondant. (I believe I explain that at the end of the video.) Hope that helps!
How did you get your colors to be neon?
I used the Americolor Electric icing colors! I linked them in the description. :)
What size cake pans did you use in this video for your cakes ?🙂
The top tier is 5", the bottom tier is 7" :)
