It’s good to see you out there with your son. You’re good at encouraging him. Somehow, you need to encourage him to stand up on the balls of his feet more. He’s really getting bucked around & losing control by sitting so much.
Oh I know and so does he. He watches the footage and says “I need to stand up more”. I think he will be like my older kid. He kept sitting and sitting then one day he stood up and bam! That was it.

The Xtrainer I had and Betas I’ve ridden have all had a “fast” front end. We dropped my buddy’s forks down like yours and adjusted the sag a bit and it was peachy.
Yeah that is the weird thing of the race edition. Beta is popular in PA. Great in the forest, a little smaller than KTM, turns tight (even better with the new radiators), lots of low RPM lug. But, the stock KYB valving seems to lean more towards XC / traditional enduro faster pace riding. Maybe that’s what the complaints are about? Dudes buy it as forest bike but it doesn’t have forest bike suspension out of the box.
Great to hear your thoughts on the bike and looks like you and your son were having fun! I was finally able do some riding at RAM here in Co Springs on Sunday, and I thought the bike did well. Spent quite a bit of time on the back track hitting the jumps, and then messed around on some techy sections as well. I think this bike is going to work great for the CORCS races, and should be a little more capable than my two 20+ y/o KDXs. ;-)
If forks feel stiff, maybe try bleeding air out if forks ...I bleed the air about every half hour...can feel the difference...elevation, temp, etc ...all air pressure build up the n fork...
Looking good, Been looking for some info a beta 300rr or a sherco 300 se before i buy one. Beta would be turned into a race bike, not sure if the extra work is worth it vs sherco.
As far as the vibration goes, I thought the motor was loose in the frame. When you get the compression release pick yourself up some rubber foot pegs. lol. Your son is riding great, certainly not a lack of effort on his part.
how does it fill weight wise compared to ktm300. it may be interesting when you Riding to compare what you fill to the KTM like you did the vibration. just started watching the video so far great.
I have a 2021 te300 and last spring I picked up a 2022 crf250r at a good price. it took me a little work to finally get the suspension valved to work like I want it to but when I got it setup I really like it because it feels lighter, turns really quick, it fills short and agile. I like riding it way more than my te300. we ride some really tight trails in Al. I plan on sailing the te300 and maybe picking up a beta 200.
About the cameras, the new 360 has good picture quality and the stabilization is great but the wind noise is awful, GoPro almost no wind noise. Maybe try some of those "kitty hair" stick on wind screens over the mics. Also, with each camera it would be nice to have them set farther back on your chin mount if possible or a wider POV setting. IMO you should always be able to see the fender in the shots and a bit of the bars. The kid is having fun out there, that's awesome.
Are those forks the Triple S version?, I think once you revalve the suspension the twitchy feeling will be gone, unless your racing really high speed desert stuff I don't think stabilizers really do much, I stopped using mine awhile ago and I like it better without it, and just an FYI, Lance charges $25 for the custom lettering on the Mako 360.
I would love to see you try a RK Tech head, I contacted Kelsey and he said he's working on one as I'm waiting for my 2024 Beta 300 Race Edition to show up at the dealership. May YAH Bless you. Thanks
Hey Morgan, thanks a bunch for all you do, great videos. I hope you can answer this question, does the bike rip at all, in the beginning of this video one of your friends rode it and said it has NO Hit, how do you feel about it, will it keep up with your sons yz250 or is it tame in comparison to the YZ or the XC, I think a lot of people would like to hear your thoughts, all the videos out there show the race edition chugging along 2-3 gear bike, but almost everyone whom buys the RE300 want to also occasionally take it from the tight single track to a track or just some open fast trails, but their are no videos out there that cover the fast stuff with this bike, what’s your honest opinion, I understand it’s a great motor but how does it compare.
I’ll do a video specifically on that but no, it doesn’t rip like a YZ or my XC. It’s crazy linear and has a ton of grunt but doesn’t sing like those others. That’s why I bought it. I already have that. But if I could only have one, currently, I’d still choose my XC. It hauls ass and still chugs pretty freaking good. You can do some things and make them more like an XC but it seems better to use it for what it’s good at.
Some of that smoothness is likely from the Suzuki needle...they were too smooth for my liking and I ended up back with the stock needle and specs based of the chart in the manual...been perfect for me and all I ride is slow gnarly stuff!@@highlandcycles
Sherco.. sherco.. sherco. My 250se. Rips and still climbs hills like a Billy goat. Just bought another one.. I'm sure if I was at elevation like that I would want the 300.. but at sea level the 250s with a touch more compression rip.
