    sir i divided the flow rate by velocity to get the area in sq meters and then i divided the volume by the computed area to get the length which gave me 72 meters of length and then assumed the depth to width ratio=4 to calculate the width as 3.22m and depth as 13m....is this the right approach?

      Yes, but make sure that the velocity must be horizontal velocity..

    But max flow rate will be 1.8 times the flow rate given in qn? Can we design without multiplying 1.8?

      No...if the average daily flow is given then only we have to take 1.8 times..in this qn, it is asked to design for 18mld.

      Assumption regarding velocity is given in CPHEEO manual.

      Sorry...I don't have more idea about RCC design of lamella tank..but in the Market lamella tank of mild steel is available..

      @@savenviron1524 thankyou for your reply. Actually for higher flow rates MS based tanks are not used ... Mainly RCC tanks are designed in which certain lamella plates and packs are fitted.. I want to learn for it actually.. thankd

      Design procedure is same for both type of tank. For Higher flow rates the dimensions are large.
      RCC design of the tank is similar to the water tank or you can ask to structural consultant.

      @@savenviron1524 my main concern is how to choose lamella plates for certain flow... The quantity , thickness calculations .. like for flow of 100m3/HR how many lamella plates will be required? What will be thickness and how to choose velocity and angle
