Church leaders (like Oaks & The Boys) are both obsessed with and fixated on being "pioneers of everything"; when, in fact, they are "pioneers of nothing".
(Do you realize that people who are fleeing are not pioneers, at all, but refugees? Can you imagine Syrians reaching a place of refuge and then claiming, suddenly, to be pioneers? I don't think that kind of thinking happens...outside of Utah!)

As a vegetarian exMormon I can say that I'm healthier, stronger and HAPPIER! I try to tell the Mormons about the whole "eat meat sparingly" and they come up with stupid excuses why it's okay to go against their own scriptures like "muh protein", "plants have feelings" or "I like meat too much". So, why should I follow your religion if you can't even follow your scriptures?

Of course, pigs are in "hog heaven" when they are alive, on a pig farm. They eat very well! They don't have to scavenge or forage for food; and, they have no fear of predators.
(When it comes time to butcher those pigs, they blissfully go through the slaughterhouse, with no fear or realization that they will soon become somebody's breakfast sausage (or bacon).
      No suffering there!
Of course, God (anciently) said "no pork".
God (to Mormons) said, "eat meat sparingly".
Mormons NEED a "punishment affixed to their commandments". (If there isn't a specific consequence attached to it, the people just go and do their own thing. And, the Church exists to do what, exactly?)

Around the 1950s, the church went into the cattle-ranching business and became the largest cattle-ranchers if he U.S. and for a brief period the largest ranchers in the world. Prophets and leaders used to preach to not eat meat before this time but stopped after this money-making venture. If they went into the coffee bean business, then coffee wouldn’t be part of the WofW.

Mormon culture is toxic!I'm in the process of leaving the church,as I'm not 18 (apparently I'm not competent to make my own decisions on my belief regarding the church) In the words of my parents "we encourage you to go to church,as we want the best for you".Yet if I chose the alternative, love and compassion is restricted.Being in the lds church is bloody intense! It strips you of who you are,and feeds you with what you 'need to be,in ordering to be happy' It's emotional bondage.

Yet you were competent to make your own decision at the age of 8 to be baptised? I remember everyone congratulating me on my baptism and all I could say was "you're welcome".
Your parents have no shame about their only real skill being blunt emotional manipulation. It's what they were taught. You get to see it and surpass it in your own personal evolution. A situation for cultivating patience and personal grace. Usually by the time a person reaches their 30's the roles of parent and child switch- the child as an adult realises they have to compassionately compensate for their parents inabilities and shortcomings by eliminating arguments and bickering and simplifying what is presented to them. They want to fight and withhold compassion because they are emotionally and psychologically adolescent. Go easy on them but be aware that they might figure out what you are doing and that could make things worse, so just taper it off a little at a time, on the sly. freedom is around the corner : )

@Zelph On the Shelf, If it's true that the LDS church has spent more on that mall than on humanitarian aid-it's sickening. I was always taught that the majority of tithing and other church donations were used to "run" the church and help those in need. It's pathetic. I'm currently disfellowshipped (not going back anyway) and I am literally not allowed participate in anything at church. They said I can't pray at church, even raise my hand to comment during a lesson, have a church calling, sustain people (basically pretend "voting" at church), etc... You know, because they love me right? But, I'm a vile sinner and not worthy to participate at church... But, you know what they still encourage me to do? Pay my mother f--king tithing.

I know this is years late, but as to the topic of Mormons trying to preserve their heritage is very much true. of white Mormons.
in my experience as a POC, my connection to my non-white heritage was completely smothered until I fought my way out of the church. the same thing happens to multiple other members of color.
I knew a Maori girl who was shamed for getting a traditional tattoo that was very important to her culture. a lot of African members I've met were told off for not acting American enough. and then their attitude towards Indigenous Americans! it's worse than squashing their culture, they try to actively rewrite their history.

I think Mormons do love their church more than God, and that's why they become so irrational trying to explain the huge contradictions. I realize most people reading this don't believe in God, but I do have faith that we were created by a perfectly moral God, and if God was truly behind Mormonism, then God would not be perfectly Moral. So that is why I left. I want to stand for truth, not stand for lies because it's a prosperous organization that tries so hard to look perfect on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men's bones.

imagine if you will, a time when a mormon could have his throat slit from ear to ear and his blood drained out to atone for his own sins.
imagine a time in utah, (circa 1847) when fast and testimony meeting was followed by the blood atoning ceremony.
it was a particularly grizzly fast and testimony meeting today. 5 people were blood atoned today after meeting. from a diary read by thelma geer, direct descendant of john d lee mormon assassin and blood atoner for brigham young and joseph smith
if you thought there was a chance for a last moment stay of execution, you would be saying something similar at fast and testimony.
knowing with every fiber of my being is a hold over from the days of brigham young
they would sing the song who's on the lord's side who? have a very sincere fast and testimony meeting under careful scrutiny of the bishop and his counselors, and then it was off to the blood atoning.
one thing you could be blood atoned for, is having sex outside marriage. usually they just had the two of you get married. but if you had designs on keeping a pretty young girl away from briggy or one of the bretheren, you were definitely treading on thin ice.

Do you have any peer-reviewed articles about the Church's finances or lawsuits about finances from reliable sources? ( I know one of my mom's friends growing up in high school was defrauded by Zions National Bank. I think owned by the church? It was about a gold mine in Nevada and he is currently still in a lawsuit against them for it)

Ummmmm, I was raised Mormon in the midwest and I am in no way exaggerating when I say that at least 80% of the (adult) members in my branch were overweight and probably about 60% were clinically obese. Going to ANY church event with food meant a huge dessert section, sugary punch of some kind, and casserole after casserole.

Okinawa Island aka the healthiest place on earth. I think they have more 100 years olds per capita than anywhere on earth. My point is, the Mormon dietary law isn't even close to having the corner market on health. And this is worth mentioning- The Mormon church claims to be the Restoration of Gods true church, yet it has a completely different dietary law than the Bible. Jesus followed His father's instructions perfectly, meaning He didn't eat pork, shell fish etc, because that was Heavenly Father's instructions for His people. Mainstream Christianity interprets scripture that this old law was done away with, which is becoming more debatable as other interpretations are out there that these instructions did not go away with Jesus. For Mormons though, instead of restoring the original dietary law, or adding to it, they come up with a completely different one! RED FLAG! A God who never changes sure changes a lot for Mormons! +zelphontheshelf

Just discover your channel . Would like some confirmation about the LDS worshipping some kind of celestial mother. I recently found that that the LDS has discovered that God had a wife . Apparently they believe because everything on earth is the shadow of what are in heaven including the family structure composing of a father, a mother and the kids; they very resulted Father God has a wife. The wife supposes to be Mother God. Looking forward to hearing from you on this topic.

    Responds well to criticism? Ha!
I got in trouble with Rostov Mission president Eric Ottesen, because my Stake President convinced me that my actions won't be against any rules. When I got punished, I said that since I am not a missionary and followed the advice from my stake president, the mission president can't do that. Ottesen asked my stake president if he told me that I can do what I did, but the latter said he never said anything like that. As a result I was punished even more and was called a liar. I was banned from going to YSA Conference and wasn't welcome at most activities. Later I had an interview with my stake president where I asked him if he still believed that what he told me was in harmony with the church rules. Surprisingly, he said 'yes', despite the fact that he knew that I got in trouble for that and he lied to his superiors about it. He even confirmed that what I did was exactly what he told me I could do. Yet, he refused to explain why he lied to the leaders. As soon as our interview was over, I emailed the mission president and reported on the stake president. The next day, I received an email from the mission president, telling me that he had a phone conversation with the stake president and they both believe that I misunderstood stake presidents words. I knew in advance that they will try to gaslight me and convince me that I got everything wrong, so during the interview I had my phone recorder on. I listened to that conversation about 6 times and made a few people, including a language teacher, listen to it. They confirmed that the stake president said what I thought he said. I informed the mission president about the recording and the analysis made by those people. He didn't reply for a month, until I forced him. He said that he doesn't care about evidences and witnesses, because the word of the take president is more important than that. I reported on him to the Area Presidency, but they didn't reply. I happened more than a year ago. Other leaders expressed more concern about the fact that I secretly recorded my leader than the fact that he taught wrong principles, framed another member and lied to his superiors. Now, whenever I say something about it, people just tell me to shut up.

All the "we are good at charity" points seem rather weird to me. Regardless what one thinks of the organisation as a whole, certainly the Roman Catholic Church has to have the LDS Church beat on that front by basically every metric imaginable. At least on paper, the sheer amount of charity work the Vatican does is astounding - Caritas alone is basicaly global. If charity is a major concern of yours, join them - at least if you go tradcath, you get to impress everyone by knowing some basic Latin.... Or join the red cross and pretend you're Swiss maybe, that way you can LARP as rich?
    .
The same point applies to "financial secrity" aswell. The Bank of Vatican has big boy dollars...
