My opinion : In the horror comedy universe werewolf & vampires can be tagged as copy or inspired and all folklores can't turned to positive like stree. So they should introduced stories based on Ramayan & Mahabharat like icchadhari nag nagin, garud. Tantra vidya like rashichakra (you can unlock the power of your zodiac sign), panchtatwa etc.

If Miyazaki says current anime doesn't have the same quality that doesn't makes it a fact (ad verecundiam fallacy). Art changes so as its audiance. He puts forth some harsh opinions on animes and except others to accept them but he himself doesn't do the same. I didn't liked some famous ghibli movies but that didn't decreased the movies worth and not being the one who thinks they are dumb or have no taste just cause they liked what I hate.

But they only didn't get it because of their studio is not associated with Disney or Western Media.
Miyazaki Is Just Orthodox Person who clearly hate Change .
Change is part of Nature and all things change with Time.
Pure Hand Draw Anime is now Vintage and should be seeen as such but criticizing Modern Animation which are spectacular clearly shows jealousy .....
