Hi Mate , is there a difference in temperature between the left hand side of the cooking chamber and the right hand side ? Also is the baffle plate removable to allow direct grilling/searing over the fire ?
Yes sir. There is a difference but I did not measure it... yet. The plate is not removable and I am still thinking about cutting it myself. There is a coal basket sold separately but it is a bit too high for me if I roast a chicken. I can send picks if you want more info.
@@bistroapapa3203 Good on you mate . Thank you for the info. It looks like a really nicely built smoker /grill but the fixed baffle plate over the fire drawer is a dealbreaker for me. I can see why you would want to modify yours to make the baffle plate removable for direct grilling or searing over the firebox/drawer.
@@surfhardorgohome a grill can be placed on the drawer open or closed. i do this for searing after smoking for steaks, crispy chicken skin etc. I have the coal basket it works excellent for rotisserie, steaks, and bon fires at night :) no need to modify this epic, most versatile cooker I have ever used.
@@shawnmooney5643 Thanks for the advice mate ... so you can open the drawer and place a grill directly over the fire in the open drawer , have I understood correctly ? If so approx what size grill grate would fit over the open drawer , and can the open drawer support the weight of the grill and food placed on the grill without drooping?
@@surfhardorgohome I use one of my OIS grills. yes the drawer can be pulled out almost 3/4 before it starts to tilt. If you wanted the full surface of the grill you could just pull the drawer out completely. drawer can be closed entirely with the grill on it.

Is it a sin for Canadians to speak loud enough for people to hear what you’re saying?
