My Potting Bench faces West. (Only afternoon Sun due to all of the buildings around it} My Glasshouse however faces North (All day Sun) to get the most winter sun, in the Southern Hemisphere.
Oh the yabbies!! Brings back such wonderful childhood memories Elissa. It's so good to hear that Niki is recovering well. We love the spaghetti squash too, and I have stored them well for up to a year with no problems. Take care lovely and have a wonderful day xx Cathi xx
Hello Cathi, thanks for your kind message, it is good to know SS stores as well as I hoped it could, in our environment. Hope all is well with you Elissa x
I'm catching up on all of your videos this morning. I just love your homestead! You definitely show that a great deal can be produced on a smaller place.
Thank you so much Carol, it is always lovely to see your comments and have your input adding value to this community. As you can tell, I am catching up on my comments.
Very informative and very soothing. Get the same feeling of peace when I watch my ducks and hens and watch what’s happening in the garden, and observe wildlife and gum trees, mostly thinking and dreaming. ✅
G'day Elissa, now I'm hungry for yabbies lol. That's great too hear your daughter is doing better. Nice you'll have a great lot of hay now. God bless you. 🦘👍
I love the mobs of kangaroos bounding past. We have lots of wallabies here but only very small mobs of roos. My boys have been playing detective to figure out what's eating all our yabbies, claws everywhere around the edge of our dam. We think it might be the shag that's been hanging around or the pair of herons that may be looking to breed here . We don't mind , they can feast . Your spaghetti squash look beautiful and big too .I'm so glad Nikki continues to improve ❤❤The poultry looks so happy with their nice fluffy nests and floor . Much better than ankle deep mud for you . Thank you for sharing lovely ❤
I really enjoy watching your videos, they are so informative, and educational especially for someone who has just started in homesteading and learning about all the benefits of herbs. Your videos are so relaxing and such a pleasure to watch. You have a beautiful homestead.
Lovely to see another video, so pleased to hear your girl is better, and look at that spaghetti squash, great harvest...ill give them a go next season..im late to the garden this season but im sure it'll all work out...oh the yabbie seasons has been a abundant one with all that rain thats forsure.....till next time keep well.
You can do it! I know it's Hot there now. We get heatwaves around the 115F mark too and a day of 103F feels like a cool change, when it finally arrives. Watering the garden, especially pots is a daily job in the Summer, if you don't get rain like us, but it is worth it.
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad your daughter is doing better. I've been having a smoothie with breakfast and kefir or kombucha with lunch. I only cough when my throat is dry. Getting more skirts. May switch to tie dyed cotton ones. My newly established credit score is needs work at TransUnion and fair at Equifax. Need it better to get better rates for a car loan. We're looking into getting a truck.
Great Video's, do you have a 'Mud Map' with rough dimensions of the chook shed, veggie patches and fruit / citrus trees and overall property size? You keep referring to Small Homestead, so I'm curious as to how small as it's very productive. I'm seriously looking at moving out of the inner suburbs of Melbourne to a small homestead property about 60 - 90km away from Melbourne, close enough that I can come into work 1 or 2 days a week. Thanks
I don't have a Mud Map at this time, however inside the fence line is only 1/6 of an acre, with the house, single car shed, and garden shed taking most of that land. The rest is left to free range Poultry, growing food and a separate area for the dogs. I have found ways to use every part of the space keeping it functional and tidy. I am 175cm tall if that can help as a comparison when watching the outside videos.
What direction does your potting bench face?

Fermented garlic and honey! 😋Can you share the recipe?
I sure can, in this old video I show you how I make it ua-cam.com/video/dXTNikkZymQ/v-deo.html
👍👏
Such a lovely place to be! ❤ Do you buy seeds or do you take them from previous crop? Is so, can you share how to preserve seeds?

I was watching you with great pleasure until you put those live animals into boiling water. 😥
Very quick way to prepare them. From what I know, they die instantly.
Sorry!
This is correct Glenn.
