My brother owned a 79 Firebird Esprit. It was a good car, no brake troubles. He was a big fan of the Rockford Files so it had to be gold. Why is it in Hollywood these out of control car scenes never have the driver gear down? Or a car that apparently explodes for no reason when going off a cliff, or shreeching tire sounds from a dirt road? Funny, how there just happened to be a large barrel of gasoline at a construction site. So corny you just have to laugh. Thanks.
That gold in RF was never a production GM color. It was something the transportation dept at the studio came up with so the could have 'consistency'. They called it 'Rockford Gold' or something like that.
Don't take it out of Gear, eh!... Wait - that's a 350 Turbo Hydromatic - so why she shift at the stop sign - and from Park to Drive? Oh, Hollywood Writers must all be Blonde ;) Things you don't notice or care about when you're a kid, eh? Anyways - they couldn't kill Kelly off - she's the OG Angel!
The 'evil' Mike Brady! That car was already fairly beat for being new. The steering wheel was painted red. You could see the blue showing through. Brake pedal was for a 4 speed. Auto was a wider pedal. I remember when she lent her name, for quite a while, to a clothing line Kmart was hawking probably made in some sweatshops. Probably didn't have anything to do with it other than her name.
Jaclyn was so easy on my 10 year old eyes. I watched this show every weeknight. Many a dream before sleep, i say. But she sure as s*** can't drive. Right into a gas filled oil drum. And she solves mysteries, too! Uh uh, can you feel me now uh?
back in the 70s and 80s lot of the big mussels and all cars were real not worth nothing federal emissions newer safety standards gas was expensive if you had a big block motor lets say a 460 or a 454 that was so choked out with smog equipment and had a 2 bbl carb if you got 200hp out of these motors you were lucky heck a 350 only had 150hp heck a 250 super six from the 60s had more hp the other sad part all the cars had severe rotting issues as soon as they left from the factory it was not uncommon to own a 70s car for a few years that had body rot and a bad paint job thats why cars of the 70s and 80s were undesirable cars of the 60s and late 60s were very desirable
@@rogerstlaurent8704 I realize that cars made after about 1972 were not great but a mid-late 60s GTO like the one wrecked in that scene is now a valuable and desirable collector car. In 1980 it was on the cusp of shooting up in value: In another couple years it would become quite expensive. It's a shame they trashed it! And the real tragedy is that in 1980 in most of the US GTOs like that would be rusted out. Because of the Califiornia climate that one was probably a solid rust-free car in pretty good condition. Car guys all over the rest of the country would have loved to have that.

In this case they showed it was rigged so she couldn't. I would have turned the key off. Mr Brady couldn't have rigged that.
she seemed to try the key, but appeared to be stuck on too@@mexicanspec

How come I've never ran into one of those invisible ramps?
The show CHiPs has been hoarding them all.
Ford provided the cars for Charlie's Angels so it stands to reason they'd use a GM product for this sequence...

Guess the emergency brake didn't work, huh?
She should have tried the brake pedal
Yeah, no kidding!
1:22 best scene. Hot feet and shoes but must be a stand in. Shoes are different and red carpet.

1:56 Big ol' two barrel LOL! Anybody notice the door hinge?

Yes it is the booby trap LOL holding the throttle open.@@rogerstlaurent8704

Ooohhh, nooo that was 67 gto at 2:01 mark and nobody sees the roll bar in firebird 😂😂.
Think it appears 3 times in different parts of this sequence.
Oh sorry i was busy with something anyway after rewatching the video, it is clear that production really saved time and money by reusing the same gto.
:49 A new car and already has 2 dents on the side trim?
I guess '67 GTOs weren't worth much back around '80.
Is that Miike Brady??
Yes it was and he sure was a Badass dude LOL
Great car, nice woman. I guess Jaclyn Smith is the angel with the most brake failure scenes in the 5 seasons of this show.
so 1:42, 2:00, 2:20, 2:24 the same Pontiac GTO? I mean the car was only going 45 mph lol.
I can't believe that they would use a 1967 GTO as a random background car to wreck. Why not a plain LeMans? Even in 1980 those were worth something?
It was just an old car, and still is.
@@mexicanspecA 1967 GTO may be "an old car" but it is very valuable today.

Looks she has a break failure.
Weak scene!!!
