Born in Knoxville Tn., I am a Korean American who moved to Korea 30 somewhat years ago after college. I have watched the birth and growth of K-pop and K-media. I hope I can share some of that experience with all of you.~ God Bless

My favorite lines are in the chorus: “Raise your hands for the past me [with fist raised in the air], now set me free [opening his hand wide]”. If Jimin thinks this is not worthy of being the lead single, I can’t even imagine what the lead single will be.
Here's info that some still aren't aware of:
❣JIMIN, born October 13, 1995, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!!
JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals.
JIMIN has now won the prestigious titles for 4 yrs in a row, for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, also 4 yrs in a row!! Jimin is also referred to as "Rookie's Bible" because all rookie idols, try to emulate & study every move he makes, trying to learn from him! Aside from all that Jimin has won other countless award, broken many records. His 7 solos: ‘Lie’, ‘Serendipity’, ‘Filter’, ‘Promise’, ‘Christmas Tree’, including collabs: Jimin's OST ‘With You’, as well as collab w/Taeyang ‘Vibe’, have broken charting records worldwide, as well as being top seller, plus most listened to. Also breaking records for being #1 branding marketing idol, every single month for now, for over 3 yrs, a feat never achieved before, and still ongoing! Orgulho do nosso Jimin, tudo conseguido apenas com o suor e lágrimas dele, Jimin era o primeiro do grupo a se levantar e o último a dormir, Jimin dormia só 3 horas por dia, praticando até as 4 da manhã, Jimin no começo não teve aula de canto, Jimin aprendeu tudo só observando Os outros membros praticando, ele observava tudo de longe e ficava horas e horas praticando, Jimin sempre se preocupou em melhorar o seu canto, e sua dança, ele era o último a parar de praticar as coreografia, Jimin é muito perfeccionista, tem que ser 100% e não 99% , por isso eu escolhi amar e apoiar o Jimin, nesse primeiro Sólo dele, ele está na frente de cada detalhe, seja a coreografia as notas, a letra da música, tudo o Jimin estava presente, tem a marca do maior de todos. i'm 38 years old. by chance in 2016 i came upon bts, and within 30 seconds jimin snagged me. BTS is incredible but Jimin...Jimin IS that mc of a group. he is the most unique, versatile artist and person. There are so many layers to this man. If you look at just he solo work...from promise, serendipity, filter, lie to this?! and we don't even know yet what the other songs are on his album. He is up there with Elvis, Prince, MJ, Madonna, Cher...you think of 1 single artist that makes a impact Jimin will be that artist for me. I've been lucky enough to watch these guys at concerts a few times, and Jimin always stands out. He is the full package and he just keeps surprising us with a new layer to his art. His first performance will be on Jimmy Fallon debuting his new single in the UNTIED STATES on TV, million will experience the jimin effect and I'm excited for him.
I hope he fulfills his potential. There is much for him to show.
I will be 55 in April and age got nothing to do with anything. We have seen greats in the past and might have a better idea of what it takes to be special. I just think he has it. Let's see if he will do it.

Jimin is just pure charisma and talent and hard work and skill that happens to be ridiculously gorgeous at the same time... All that and he's also known to be incredibly sweet and selfless. Whole dang package and it really is mesmerizing to watch him. I feel like in entertainment you have amazing performers or amazing artists. He's a ridiculously talented and skilled performer AND an amazing artist and I'm here for it!

So much symbolism here - order to chaos in the beginning, the sorting of conflicting thoughts and identities. Setting his interpretive dance free, BTS is great but this is Jimin dancing his thoughts and feelings. Promise of great things to come.
I can't wait for the album. My guess is that there will be much diversity and sensitivity.

BTS kind of stepped in and took their place, but I will always have a fondness for the Bloom County Gang. Please don’t apologize for your English. Great point. I often find that there is so much I want to say but it was difficult to find a suitable format. Still experimenting. I tried my "WHY" series, where I discuss how K-POP is from my personal perspective. However, not many seem interested. Anyway. I will keep figuring out what to do. Thanks for your thoughts.
Also I am afraid that I would come across as a "Ggondae". An old 'know it all', who acts like he knows better and has a need to tell this incessantly to younger people around him. My biggest fear. -.- Cuz I hated them when I was young and I still hate them. (There are bunch of them --- older yet not wiser people around me LOL)
