I got this album because I responded to Beck on MySpace. It was something like, "the first 100 people to respond will get a free gift." A month later 2 copies showed up in the mail.
Love that Scott Pilgrim Inspired ending. Literally sounds like his work creating the songs for the movie. Had to shell out $$$$ for that Japanese Modern Guilt cd. Worth it!
But this album came out a few years before Scott pilgrim so any resemblance would've been Scott pilgrim being inspired by this song. Beck wrote a huge chunk of the songs (at least all the best ones), he wrote all the songs by sex bob-omb, and then a few others, I believe it is approximately like 10 or so. Nigel godrich obviously did most of the soundtrack but I wouldn't be surprised if they worked together on other songs too, I believe they've worked together a lot in the past.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I still think Modern Guilt still has a more classic Beck feel, Morning Phase however is when he totally changed up his approach. This album is also produced but not over. His last 3 record are all extremely over produced. Not to say that it's all bad, I think a lot of it is great, just nothing really BECK about them anymore. The rawness and realness are just gone.
@orphinemorph08 I don't know what I want but I know That fear is creeping under my bones And I know that it's time I go But it's time that's got its teeth in me And I want you to fix your eyes On something that could be beautiful If you could teach me to lose my soul It's one percent of what I know La la la la la Vampire voltage in my soul Vampire voltage rolling around And rolling
and i want you to fix your eyes on something that can be beautiful if you could teach me me to *use my soul its one more to say than what i know.... *lose?

He was largely doing a lot of the songs for that movie so yeah lol.

This is a stunning song. I've had it stuck in my head for about a week now. I can't get enough of that guitar freak-out.
This is definitely one of my favorite Beck tracks. It's a shame it's only 2 minutes long!
That’s the beauty of it
Need this on Spotify
I keep randomly clicking on more Beck songs, rarely do I not want to listen to the entire song...
This song grabs me takes me for a short beautiful ride..
Amazing song...
I adore this song. It is also one of the four bonus tracks on the Japanese release of the album.
I feel like Modern Guilt is the beginning of the Beck we have today, and The Information was sort of the end of Odelay era Beck. Just my two cents

Vampire voltage rolling around

Didn't he (Jack White) play bass in Go It Alone?
Dark. Coooool....
nice
You know... the "freak out" reminds me a LOT of Sex Bob-omb. Which is kind of appropriate in terms of time period and where he was musically.
yes, he did
@OJ85 yes

and i want you to fix your eyes on something that can be beautiful if you could teach me me to *use my soul its one more to say than what i know....
