That miracle is under threat.” Speaking in an interview to discuss how the 75 years since independence are viewed from the perspective of India’s southern states, P. Thiaga Rajan spoke at length about the way India’s constitutional commitment to federalism has been honoured in rhetoric but not really implemented fully or adequately during the last 75 years.

I am listening to this interview for the 10th time. All the times I felt that this interview ended abruptly and it should have continued for another 30 minutes or more. Very well done Honb'l minister, you proved yourself. After a long time, sensible and appreciable answers made Karan spellbound. You correctly said many IAS think or others think that all of them are 10-headed Ravana's and 20-handed to keep hands in 20 committees. experienced officials agree with me that they are good organizers but poor knowledge but boast that they know everything in fact they do not know anything but steal facts and knowledge from one officer's specialist and pass it on to another committee as if they know it but in fact, all of their ideas are borrowed. They work with authorities but with no real knowledge in anything. Putting them in many and various committees only makes them feel proud and they can not do justice to any one committee. so hereafter one officer should have one portfolio only so that they can think make ideas rather than symbolically chairing and taking a salary. we should change at least now after 75 years of independence to become independent of IAS. They were appointed because there was no specialist and now many experts are available so the IAS should be phased out slowly as they are part of political corruption and not doing their constitutional duties in spite of the constitutional post they occupy. Most of them are greedy for money and power. They should leave specialist departments only to be administrative. All heads of the department post to be given to concerned department specialists who are working in their department for many years. If anybody is not fit to be head of the department they should resign and go home.
Thiagarajan is one of the few politicians who instills hope that we can all have in a future India.. wishing him all the best..

Being an NITTian and person from Madurai Central constituency I could connect easily with PTR. Very proud to do so. This interview is very well made and appreciate both PTR and Karan. This is the first time Karan was so calm and listening to his guest. I remember his bad day with former TN CM Jayalalitha. PTR has put forth the perception of South Indian in every aspects like State Autonomy, GST, Demonetization, Economy, Pakistan and India relationship.. awesome interview.

Unfortunate most of Tamilians r not news readers, but waste time by listening to their fraud politicians. In Tamil Nadu chennai n Coimbatore contributed 35% n 25% to state gdp, but the distribution of the fund is skewed towards poor districts like Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram etc. y? To bring up those poor districts upto chennai n Coimbatore. But if the same done by central govt by skewing towards poor states like Bihar, Tripura, etc, to bring them upto Maharashtra, Gujarat, TAMILNADU, Karnataka, Delhi, then INDI Alliance frauds r unwise. Next gst, when upa2 was ready to release gst in 2010, same alliance parties resisted to the core, but Modi objected as it has flaws for corruption. The flaws for corruption r removed n then Modi rolled out. This PTR not worth claiming he is finance genie. The nut increased all charges of products n its services that under under Tamil Nadu govt control like current 2 times, milk twice, bus fare, twice, Aavin products thrice, stamp duty by 40%, registration charge by 42%, water tax by 60%, sewage tax by 40%, tasmac by 65%, Parkin charges by 80%, all approval charges by 70%. Still financially bleeding. What an idiot fm?

Wow! What an interview! It's always a great pleasure to watch Karan's interviews but this one was exemplary! PTR is truly God sent to break the bones of BJP & RSS that is committing such atrocities in the name of God and religion! We south indians are strongly against communal politics, castism etc, I hope our north Indian friends also understand the jumla politics of Modi and join us in actively working towards uprooting Modi, BJP and RSS from India. What we need is inclusive growth, secularism, social justice and truly become a super power.

A very interesting interview. Mr Thiagarajan has explained all issues clearly and fearlessly. He has avoided direct attack on PM but has indicated his incompetence and dictatorial style succinctly. Human nature finds way to normalise conditions and capacity to bring down powerful, dictatorial regimes with Hitler and Indira Gandhi's examples. The interview focussed more on issues confronting the citizens rather than a political slugfest.
This applies to the Dravidian ideology too.
