AE Live 18.1 - Improve Student Communication by Developing Social Emotional Skills

Most ELLs genuinely want to learn to communicate in English. However, if we educators focus solely on key language topics(listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar), we ignore an essential component of communication-social emotional skills. In this webinar, we will learn about the benefits of helping students improve their emotional intelligence; we will consider how to help students process their thoughts and emotions and interact with others in respectful, empathetic ways. The best interactions and relationships (in any language) are more than the result of using language rules correctly. By incorporating social emotional learning in our classrooms, we can help our students build the lifelong skills needed to be successful communicators.
