Oh god, I'd forgotten the Instant Trans Location. Its been 15 years since I watched Ocean. FUNimation has become THE dub for me and I'd forgotten a lot from the first dub I heard lol
Lol bro, I didn’t think about it until the other day - I suddenly remembered and I did some searching old video tapes I had and stuff from when I was younger and watched some and was like 😅😧
I just rewatched the episode with the Shen Won thing. If I remember it was 139, and I remember facepalming after that when I first watched it as a kid in the U.K. You almost made me forget.
Mind you, I remember thinking Tenshinhan was a badass snapping Tao Pai Pai’s blade going “you can’t hurt me with this stupid thing.” .... ah to be a child and to enjoy the blue water dub....
Y'know, Both as a kid and as a young adult (I'm 21), I enjoyed the blue water dub for most of dragon ball (it went DOWNHILL during the piccolo jr. saga) and dragon ball gt (except for Goten's voice). However, I hated the gt opening as a kid, but I like the drum' n bass opening for dragon ball on Toonami UK. Ah, those were the days. Remember the blue water gt adult goku, and how he would pronounce Majin Buu Mah-jin Buu?
Funimation produced the first us dbz dub and they hired the ocean group actors to do the voices and saban was the distributor. For season 3 funimation switched to using in house voice actors.
The Ocean Dub during the Sayin Saga and Frieza Saga was at its best. I remember the Garlic Saga had the Funimation Dub also, then the ocean dub returned during the Cell Saga with a new intro.
@@WorldKingKanji I had an insane version of Dragon Ball Z. So it started with Ocean from Saiyan - Frieza Saga. Then it became Funimation until Trunks Saga, then it became Ocean up until the episode Evil Buu released from Good Buu then it became Funimation up to the end of Dragon Ball Z. I wonder if anyone else in the UK during the 1990's had this memory of DBZ?
@@HDNDraxirch I don't remember anything about the Ocean/Westwood dub other than the intro, 1 or 2 of the songs used, and Babidi having the exact same voice as a character from a cartoon one of my sisters watched (same voice actor). I saw a video about DBZ in the UK a while ago and still couldn't piece things together in my head. I could've sworn I remember hearing Bruce Faulconer's music during the Androids/Cell saga when I was younger, and I also don't remember hearing any of the Ocean voice actors.
stewie17 People forget this all the time. Hell even after Funimation moved the dubbing in-house Terry Klassen (Ocean Krillin) and Ward Perry (Ocean Turles) were brought on as writers.
ocean dub for saiyan and early namek saga are legendary. nothing touches the original ocean dub for these seasons.
@@MrPoot-ce8mn what original?
@@MrPoot-ce8mn but why is the english version crap for?? its made for english audiences. its not worse or better its just different.
Watching Westwood dub on Saturday

I’m sorry for reminding you bro.... it’s painful isn’t it!

Dreadfully. Remember "Hades" in DBGT?

Yes!! People have disputed this with me on countless occasions, glad you remember that also.

Regardless the ocean dub was the very first English dub . I remember watching after mega man , the voice actors also was on double dragon .
Funimation worked with ocean actors at first
The “Saban” dub. It was Funimation’s dub. Saban just distributed the show on television.
