  • On 9/11/01, United 93 was the last plane to be hijacked and crashed into a field instead of an unknown target. What many don't know is how close things came to that being different.

I remember hearing the hijackers went to flight school in the United States, and when the people who taught them were questioned, like “was anything ever off about them?” or something like that, the teachers responded with something along the lines of, ”Yea, they never seemed interested in how to take off or land." Absolutely insane.

    I have a true story
One of my relatives was in one of the twin tower buildings, and one of his co-workers noticed smoke coming from the other building, she said to my relative: We got to go
Now the twin towers were far enough from each other that a fire would be fine for the tower not on fire, and my relative said: It's just a fire, we'll be fine
She said: I was here during the attacks of 1993, we gotta go
He insisted to use the elevator
She said no and they began rushing down the stairs
around 3 minutes of them rushing down flights of stairs, they heard a loud bang and then a shake, everyone 3 floors above them had died.
That person saved my relative and a couple other lives too, God Bless her

IF you're in a building that has been attacked once before and see one that is on fire that's most likely a sign to get out before something else bad happens. She knew what she had to do and did it and glad she was able to get other people out as well just sorry the ones 3 floors above weren't able to make it out. They had one of the towers emptied out (not sure if it was that one) and felt it was safe for everyone to go back to work. IT been me I would had left instead of heading back up to my office, you know in the pit of your stomach something bad is bound to happen. One tower was crashed into ON purpose. So sad a beautiful sunny morning turned into a tragic nightmare.

Why is it that the plane literally went in a giant circle around the Pentagon and then flew at street level (without hitting any telephone or light poles) and hit the exact place where all the evidence of the 2.3 trillion dollars that was reported missing the day before by Rumsfeld? It could have been WAY more easily hit it on it direct path by going straight and hitting other side…. So it decided to take more time, go around, fly damned near at street level and hit that one place all while they had the threat that a missile or plane would shoot them down before they could hit their target.
That doesn’t make any sense. Now, firing a missile into the 1 area that held all the evidence that some people in the government stole and blaming it on a plane…. Even though it is much worse…. Makes a lot more sense… there should be some video evidence from that heavily surveilled building… 1 single video that actually shows a plane hitting or at least coming at the Pentagon…. But it doesn’t exist supposedly.
And if that is a lie… and Building 7 that was never hit by a plane carrying jet fuel that weakened the steel, which is the reason the Towers fell they say…. How did it fall in its own footprint? There were many other buildings that were damaged way worse and were on fire too…

and while replacement Senators may be appointed by the state's governor (which 46 states allow), House of Representatives vacancies must be filled by special election, so that would be weeks to months without part of the government. The quorum is half of the membership of each (except for if a president/VP election doesn't get an electoral college majority)

The crazy thing is that most people don't realise and doesn't seem to be talked about much was, the north tower was hit before 9am, and the south tower hit at 9am, afterwards. This meant that building was no where near full, not everyone had arrived. Only 15,000 people were in the buildings at the time, with a normal weekday population of 50,000 plus 200,000 daily visitors. If the Hijackers had hit the towers, an hour later, at 9:46 and 10:03, the death toll would have been so much larger.

I live right nearby. You’re correct. An hour or even an hour and a half later the toll would’ve been much much worse. Even more so had they aimed lower. Having said that, response, aid, and evacuation may have been more efficient at a later time because most of the commuters would have already reached their destinations and both inbound and outbound points for the tunnels and bridges would be relatively clear.

Somehow they crashed instead, we'll never know if the hijacker at the controls just yanked the controls and sent it into a steep dive when the door was broken in, or what happened

@@manwithnoname8229 The key to general relativity lies in the fact that everything in a gravitational field falls at the same constant rate. For Newton to be right this would mean the force of gravity is variable. F = ma (a = 9.8 m/s/s). Why? Because in free fall a = 9.8 m/s/s is a constant for all different masses. a = F/m a = Big F/Big m & a = small F/small m. But this would also mean during free fall all masses would have weight if W = mg. Weight = mass times gravity @ 9.8 m/s/s. Weight is a force. F = ma means force causes mass to accelerate, and F is the thrust force often measured in pounds. Can we measure the different weights of the different masses during free fall? No because the weight of a mass can only be measured on a scale that is said to be at rest. Besides, an accelerometer measures zero acceleration during free fall for any mass. And that means there is no force acting during free fall. No force = No acceleration = No weight...Just mass. The acceleration noticed is strictly visual from your frame of reference, which is one of non-free fall. In other words you are watching things in free fall that don't have a force on them, no gravity, but at the same time while there is a gravity force on you.

Imagine a world where the White House is still standing. While the World Trade Center attack inflicted the most casualties, it was the destruction of the White House that has most shaped America today. If the plane had been delayed, the crew and passengers would’ve learned of the attacks in New York and maybe, just maybe, have been able to fight the hijackers.
With the White House intact, the American retaliation throughout the Middle East would have been less extreme. The wars in the Middle East might have taken on a more limited form, with only Afghanistan being the target of the US military rather than...well, everybody else.”

Interestingly Cody irl is very opposed to the wars and perhaps he might have a different view if the attacks were worse and the vibes were more in favor of the war.
American troops would be even more aggressive in fighting the Taliban and we may still have a presence in Afghanistan and that the Middle East turns into another Europe or East Asia where American troops are kept their more or less as a fact of geopolitics and there might be U.S or whatever other troops in places like Iran, Syria and Libya and there would probably be a draft of some kind. There might even be a redrawing of the middle east like what was proposed at the time.
On the other hand an even more aggressive U.S might not be as sympathetic. Criticism of the war on terror would be up to 11 with possibly Europe breaking from the U.S into an independent bloc and Russia and China would be even more critical of U.S foreign policy and would still be seen as relatively pacifist against American aggression. No one would care about some protest in Hong Kong or Russia influencing European politics if American troops are fighting a war in Iran.

Think about it: we were already pissed off enough when the towers fell, and as monumental a landmark as they were, they're nothing compared to the White House or Congressional building. Those are US icons. Had they been destroyed...well, Afghanistan likely would be a burned-out husk of its' former self, and that's just the start.

It's from the CBS 1 year anniversary "9/11." It's kind of hard to find with it's title since there are so many 9/11 videos. Try "9/11 (2002)." It's actually a really great, if tough watch. The video itself was from a documentary crew that just happened to be doing an amateur gig on the day to day operations of the New York Fire Department when the attack happened, and it gives a really startling look at the first responders.

The Capitol Building being hit could have also potentially resulted in the loss of the Library of Congress and/or the National Archives, both of which contain large portions of America's historical legacy.
The loss of the rotunda would have been a loss of something that took generations to build, an architectural work of art being vandalized.
People ranging from Thomas Jefferson to Jefferson Davis had a hand in the design, creation, and building of just the rotunda of the Capitol Building. There are so many noteworthy historical and artistic elements of interest that it would be impossible to list them all here, but the amongst the most important would be the previously mentioned Library of Congress, the rotunda itself, the interior mural, and the statue.
Like human lives, these cannot be replaced.

@Raven Lynx The Twin Towers were designed to withstand the impact of a 707 at a relatively low speed while on approach to an airport, not fully-fueled 767s purposefully slamming into them at 3X those speeds. However, you're right about the impacts; they didn't bring down the buildings. But it was massive multi-floor office fires ignited by thousands of pounds of burning jet fuel burning out-of-control for 56 and 102 minutes respectively that brought them down, not explosives. If you understand basic physics then none of this should be surprising.

    • @icemachine79
      @icemachine79 5 років тому +8

@Raven Lynx Jet fuel ignited the fires. Office materials sustained the fires. Thousands of gallons of burning jet fuel was sprayed over several floors of each building. Each floor had only drywall dividers separating the various offices so the fire was able to spread quickly.

    • @xsupremeyx9923

@Raven Lynx Metal beams shouldn't be destroyed but since the impact, there must be alot of beams getting destroyed due to impact,, so the pressure on remaining beams must be seriously high, and the burning fuel must have melted it that much that the beams broken apart causing the whole upper floor to fell down unless its a staged demolition act which is also possible.... Jet fuel ain't normal fuel you see, its a more purified form of petrol which will burn at considerable higher temperature than petrol... so melting is quite possible too

Two of the al-Queda leaders who are said to have plotted the attacks, Ramzi bin al-Shibh and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (both cooling their heels in Guantanamo Bay these days) were pretty clear that the capitol building was the intended target. It being much larger than the White House, it would have been easier to hit and had a much more dramatic effect, which is what they were hoping to achieve.
Had the US Capitol or the White House been hit, it would have been tragic and there would have been a loss of life. But either one would have been quickly rebuilt with 100% certainty. It would be mostly a symbolic victory for Al-Queda.

My mom was at the Capital Building on 9/11 to deliver some papers to a representative in Congress (the name of that person will not be said). Ever since I learned that she was at the Capital Building on that day, I’ve been scarred by that fact that my mom could have died, and that I may not be here typing this. I do think that the target for United 93 was the Capital Building, one because it be unwise to target the White House when the president was in Florida on 9/11(I know that the Vice President, Dick Cheney, was in Washington DC). The other reason is that the White House was too low of an elevation for the plane to hit the building (and yes, I know what I’m saying, the Pentagon was hit at a similar elevation, yet they somehow managed to hit the Pentagon), meanwhile, the Capital Building was a much easier target, as it is one of the tallest structures in Washington DC, due to a law saying that buildings could have at most 4 stories. One of the most disturbing things I find about 9/11 is that people MAKE MEMES ON 9/11. THEY NEGLECT THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED ON THAT DAY. STOP 9/11 MEMES. Also, my dad was a police officer on 9/11, and a guy who lived at the Pentagon, came to his police station, and was unsure of what was going on and was was concerned about his place being destroyed (which did actually happen), and he was later involved with the DC sniper stuff that happened the following year. And a final note on this comment is that my mom stated that the smoke could still be smelled 2 days afterwards; the Pentagon was still burning after 2 days. So that is my family’s experience on 9/11.

    • @ringtailedfox
      @ringtailedfox 6 років тому

well... Neville Chamberlain resigned because he was dying of bowel cancer and would die a few months later... which means Churchill would simply come to power about 6 months later than in our time line. It's *possible* that the British Expeditionary Forces (BEF) would not be saved in time at Dunkirk (this was under Churchill's command)… with the loss of the 300,000 or so soldiers and their machinery, Britain might very well have sued for peace, especially if the POWs were sent into slave labour camps deep in the Nazi regime.
If Churchill didn't become Prime Minister... likely we'd see Lord Halifax become PM, even though he repeatedly said he was NOT interested in the job (he was offered a few times in the months leading up to Chamberlain's resignation). So, he'd be like a British Andrew Jackson ("if nominated, I will not run, if elected, I will not serve)… or at least be very reluctant in his duties. Halifax knew that Hitler could not be trusted after the meetings at Munich. He initially figured that the Nazis and USSR would fight it out to the death over Czechia and maybe Poland, since he absolutely viewed the USSR as a *far* bigger threat to the United Kingdom (both in size of forces, and in ideology). When the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty was signed (between the Soviet and Nazi generals, as a temporary alliance) this really put the UK on high alert. With Poland sliced in half between them, they'd be fighting a massively overwhelming foe on the continent. His hope was that both ideologies (Nazism/fascism and communism) would annihilate each other and leave the western liberal democracies mostly alone, but as we know it didn't quite work out that way!). Yes, Halifax was an early supporter of appeasement, but after Czechia was annexed, he immediately chose a tougher stance, including an alliance with Poland (which really shocked Hitler) if it were attacked next. I can see him going to war to protect Poland, perhaps without the early lull in fighting ("sitzkreig" or armchair war, as the germans called it), though it's unknown on if the BEF would still rally at Dunkirk, or if Hitler would delay his panzer brigades from advancing through the Ardennes and marshes surrounding Dunkirk for a few days (this is what allowed them to escape in our timeline). Basically, flip a coin at this point.
Once France fell, the BEF and French forces (as well as Polish partisans) all fled back to the UK to regroup. If the Luftwaffe managed to actually defeat the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain (the RAF narrowly survived and wound up winning... it's kinda scary how easily it could have gone the other way!), then the Royal Navy would have its hands full trying to shoot down the planes AND tackle the Kreigsmarine. The pro-appeasement forces would then likely demand an end to the war and a surrender, even if it meant it was on Hitler's terms. The only reason the UK kept fighting on past 1943 was thanks to the Lend-Lease agreement, and the massive influx of American troops to help in the war. Otherwise, the UK would be forced to surrender and would likely be humiliated like Germany was after the first world war. Now, Hitler himself even expressed frustration over having to fight the UK, since he considered them to be "honourary aryans", and would have vastly preferred to have them on his side. It's likely that once Continental Europe fell to the Nazis, and with the UK out of the war, they would then turn their war machine east, and attack Russia. It's unknown if they'd be able to conquer or even hold the vast territory east of Poland, but we'd likely see a vastly larger Germany.
This all depends, of course, on the USA and USSR staying out of the war against Nazi Germany. President Franklin Roosevelt wanted to join to help the UK, but most Americans wanted to stay neutral, though support for joining was gradually increasing, and the rapid succession of both Pearl Harbour and Hitler's laughably stupid declaration of war on the United States flipped public opinion from "let's stay out of another European war" to "KICK THEIR ASSES!"
Basically, it becomes too murky after November/December of 1941 to tell how the war would have ended without Churchill at the helm.
I read that the British army during the second world war seemed to operate on doing "just enough" to get the job done. German soldiers from that time remarked shortly after the war that the british would often cause massive damage, but then stop, leaving the germans time to retreat, when they were down to their last rounds, when the Germans' tactics were more of overwhelming force, crushing their opponents and making sure they either had no ammo left or were forced to surrender.... this tactic likely would have changed under Halifax.

America would have been on a war footing that hasn't been seen since Pearl Harbor. Vietnam would have been a military exercise in comparison to an entire theatre-wide conflict. America (plus NATO, ANZUS and any other coalition) would most likely hit Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and probably Pakistan for good measure. Depending on Israeli/Palestine and Yemen, both might also see US intervention. America's National Security and Intelligence agencies would get funding on steroids. To say how America (and democratic nations modelled after the US) will see their democracy, liberty, etc. in their culture after the cultural shock differently would be an understatement.

Let me put it this way: In one day, the symbol of the economic system which not only rebuilt Germany and Japan, but collapsed the Soviet union was destroyed. the American might and power of its armed forces, an uncontested force in the world at that stage, was damaged. Now either the symbol of democracy itself (the Capitol) or the influence of America's executive government (the White House) was destroyed.
Nazi Germany AND Imperial Japan never had the capacity to do it.
The Soviet Union couldn't have done it with all its nukes and military might.
An enemy that does not have an identifiable ideology, language or religion to most of the western world at the time, and doesn't even have a uniform.
Now, to put the cherry on the top of the shit sandwich that is being served against the Western World in general, John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia was due to give a speech to the Capitol.

I recall as the day unfolded, after the Pentagon was struck, rumors were running rampant on television. There were actual reports of car bombs exploding at the State Department. It was a frightening day to say the least. As time ticked away and more was happening, you didn’t know what else to expect. Skyscrapers across the country were being evacuated, people were sent home from work. I remember as the night came, our house wasn’t too far away from 8 Mile in Detroit. When the lights were turned off at night, we would hear traffic noise from the open door to our back yard in our bedroom. That night everything was silent. As I laid in bed, unable to sleep, a jet was streaking overhead. I knew all air traffic was grounded so I flew out the door. A fighter was banking over our neighborhood. I felt a little safer and soon fell asleep, waking the next morning hoping it had all been a bad dream.

I remember the night after 9/11.
I couldn't sleep, I barely slept that whole week. Just couldn't stop watching the news.
A massive panic hit that night because there was a bomb scare at the Empire State Building. I really flat out panicked thinking it was another attack.

What if there’s some alternate universe where this still exists.” The ending line of this video really got me. When it comes to the White House and Capitol on 9/11, we ARE the alternate timeline.

There would be a bloody purge much like the Great Purges to purge anyone even remotely suspected of being a communist, even those who the local officials dislike will be purged given how deep corruption was. Following true Purges will be a famine much like the Holodorm, the Harvests Within 10 years before and after the War is bound to fail given how many peasants died and/or failed to return to their fields to harvest. The ROC would also be slow to get relieve food to people since corruption was deep.

The passengers and crew on that flight actually saved an additional two specific people’s lives. Two fighter jets had been scrambled to intercept flight 93. They were unarmed and there was no time to arm them. The pilots believed they were on a one way mission and had come to terms with that. The plan was for the lead plane to crash into the cockpit and his wing woman was to crash into the tail section. Because of the bravery of those passengers and crew those two pilots were able to go home to their families.

The White House would have been an exceptionally small and difficult target to hit by a hijacked airliner.
Flight 93 could have just as logically been targeted as a second hit on the Pentagon, given the massive size of the building making it a logical target of two planes.

Some sort of watchlist, here I come…
The capitol dome was almost 4500 US tons of cast iron and was riddled with 1000+ cracks and weak areas. It was in dire need of renovation (wouldn't start until 2013). If United 93 hit the edge of the senate roof (collapsing the roof onto the in-session senate floor) and then continued into the dome/edge of the rotunda, it is possible the dome could have been pushed/collapsed/blasted towards the house of representatives or the debris and fuel/fire could have been directed towards that side of the building. Even if the dome went straight down, there’s a higher chance of successfully targeting the smaller 100 person senate (and also a smaller chamber size-wise), so removing a whole house of congress would be more likely with the senate.
I think it would have been the capitol but maybe thats some sort of personal connection bias. My Dad was a US congressman at the time and was at the capitol that morning. You can see him in the video singing on the capitol steps with the other members of congress.
