Meridia is a different kind of paladin-esque deity. She's not like "If you do good for the world, you'll be well-rewarded." She's more like "You're gonna do good in the world, or I'm gonna sock you in your damn face. Deal with it."

I forgot that was Meridia's voice in Oblivion. Touching the beacon has kind of over-taken that.

I never did Meridia's quest in oblivion but I sure as hell didn't expect her to sound like that.
The contrast between the Aedra and Daedra is one of my favorite aspects of Elder Scrolls. The Nine are kind and benevolent but distant, whereas the daedric princes are a lot closer to earth but even the nicest of em arent exactly good and will rip you a new one if you offend them
Scottish Meridia hits different

Meridia - Reasons 1-2099, why Harkon was predestined to fail at his little pervert a holy artifact and blot out the sun, scheme. I am pretty sure the Statue of Meridia a few miles south of his castle would come to life, grown 10x bigger, torn the roof off his castle, and start eating Vokihar clan members. Going “Meridia crush punny unmortals!”
I liked how Dash made sure every viewer would see the side of the Hedge Wizzard's exposed rump by zooming close on it.

you’ve become one of the youtubers i consciously look for wondering if you have a new video out, playing games myself just always feels like a chore but the fact you somehow make every little thing that i would find annoying into part of the overall story you’re telling literally makes oblivion into the longest movie i have ever watched, im not sure if you ever considered being a part of creating a game but you could make crazy contributions to damn near any story game being developed, not a lot of people have the ability to turn every silly game mechanic into what might be a reasonable plot twist

Another peaceful night to relax to dash's soothing voice and excellent storytelling
Though the Ring of Khajiti always felt... really random to me in Oblivion.
Like this is a Daedra who's ID'd in the game with both Umaril and his Slave Masters... and with boldly walking up to slaughter any undead/necromancers.
So why a ring that gives you stealth bonuses attached to a legend of thievery?
Feels more like it should be a Nocturnal thing.
This is entirely just my perception of the character, but I feel like a lot of Meridia's persona is around hypocrisy and duality. She must have undead purged, but she keeps Umaril suspended in undeath so he can conquer Cyrodiil again. She is bold in her orders but never takes action herself, even in ESO she has you do all the work during the multiple attacks on herself and her realm then calls manipulating you into protecting her "her work." Even when she was an Aedra she saw a better deal with the Daedra and jumped ship, but she still wants to be "the nice one."
That or it could just be trying to make the daedric artefacts balanced and useful in game and just rolling with whatever sounds good during the great Bethesda Crunch. Who knows lol.

I think it's because Celtic religion scared the English/Romans upon which the empire is based. The antagonist in Thief: The Dark Project reminds me of Dagon like crazy.

Even though this quest is straightforward, it's one of the most difficult daedric quests. Especially at higher levels, those necromancers and undead can be a challenge. I guess that's why they drop so many potions
I was half expecting you to place the "A new hand touches the beacon" line in before Meridia's initial speech.
I forgot Meridia was the Daedra responsible for assembling the Nine in the Crusader Questline...
Her whole thing is the beacon now.
I thought Umaril was allied with Mephala, not Meridia.
Thanks for the video, Dash. Enjoyable and fun, as usual. Meridia seems to be one of the only good daedra, hunting the undead. I do love the music of Oblivion, and sometimes it reminds me of KOTOR, which has also the same composer, if i recall correctly.

I'm not sure if she was undead or not, but it was basically a zombie head.
Like you said, she was never undead, so that’s a no. It can only be one of the three items mentioned in the video. Although I’m surprised she doesn’t take vampire dust, since vampires are also undead.

I've been watching these videos a lot over the past few weeks, and man, does it make me want to go find my 360 and copy of Oblivion. I haven't even touched it in years, but I still think it's my most favorite game of all time. Definitely the one I have the most hours in, if anything else.
The Aedra are equivalent to the Archangels and Angels while the Daedra are more similar to the Greek Gods ^^

I enchanted the Sword of Jyggalag with 10 points each of fire, frost, shock and "magic?" with weakness to each for 1 second and soul trap for 1 second. Felt like sharing that.

People really do be talking about how great and positive Meridia is compared to the other Daedra, forgetting how Meridia made Umaril the Unfeathered and supported the Aylieds who worshipped her throughout the slavery of humanity.
