Here in the US most drivers don't pay any attention to their surroundings or just assume that everyone else is paying attention so they don't have to. And as for getting a driver's license it's pretty easy here too. If you're under 18 you do have to have a Learner's Permit for 6 months but to get the license, I was in the car for about 10 minutes, my sons the same. Literally drove around the block and didn't exceed 25mph.

The next parts on anticipation and observation will hopefully help to raise awareness for that issue. I didn't know how easy it was to get a license over there. We have a theory test & practical test and most will pass after 20 hours of driving lessons.

@@torquecars observation is close to non existent. People see what's right in front of them. Why look way out in front, I'm not there yet. That type of thing.

not much U can do whilst sitting at a backed up red light with brakes on to prevent the motorist behind failing to see everyone stopped and not using brakes appropriately whilst yapping on the mobile... has happened to two relatives of mine in a matter of six months recently... my nephew says he was firmly stopped and the guy behind hit him at least 30 mph and made no intention on stopping

Really worth getting a ResQme or similar type escape tool and attaching it near to the centre of the vehicle where both driver and passenger can get to it. Every vehicle should have one, for life saving first response.
