I agree most inexperienced riders dont know this!! This is a very practical bike. Honda is smart!! I just love the pricing. Which is the main factor nowadays due to hard life.. Not everyone has experience on 1000 so hardcore riders not for you
Really good, sensible review. I have ordered an SP, to take delivery in February, having sold my bikes earlier this year. Just cannot resist this opportunity. I cannot see many people buying the stock version.
i bought the stock one. it got tested and you dont feel a difference in riding. only if you intend on going to the track where you can use the more adjustable rear öhlins
@ That’s good to know. You don’t expect Honda to short change. But I still think most people will opt for the SP for the sake of snobbishness. Me included, if truth be told!
@@edwardwilson4974 to be fair the price difference in germany, is 1800€. i think the sp is more expensive and the normal is cheaper than. And for me, since i will be replacing the exhaust it would be more expensive for the sp modell aswell the sc project exhaust available costs another 300€ more than the same exhaust for the standard hornet. So all in all in my opinion the standard is a better value, but the race is closer with a 1000pound difference compared to our 1800€ difference
This is the 5th or so review I've watched. Love the bike, love the price. I've spoken to dealer with an interest to buy. But why is nobody talking about the cable loom hanging over the engine? Couldn't Honda tuck it behind the tank??
I own a CBR650R, I am super interested in this CB1000 Hornet . An in-line 4 with fire blade engine at a prize of a Suzuki parallel twin is a no-brainer.
Pity you didn’t ride the basic version as you would have been the first Journo to review it. I would like to know how it compares to the SP and is it worth the extra money for the average riders ability on the highway?
Not really, it’s a grand for the SP, why would t you? Also, some journos did ride the stick bike, but as there was only one and little time we didn’t get a shout
Apart from the TC being so poor you need to turn it off its a great bike. Is that right? Maybe I'm getting old but I don't especially want a 150bhp 1000cc with a 180 rear tyre and TC that you need to turn off to enjoy the bike.
Good stuff! Base MT10 and outgoing V2 Streetfighter are the same price as the SP here in Oz. Still the one to pick when value isn’t the main consideration?
@ I think you’re in the thread with the Marcus guy claiming 22.5k. I put the claim to my dealer where I have the pre-order, and he said “can’t confirm, but that’s the ballpark.” I think the UK is getting 1000 bikes at an introductory price, and that Honda AU don’t have the same aggressive tactic in mind. I’ll reply when I get hard numbers :)
@telemaster thanks, I'm actually in nz and I think it's going to be around 23k or more over here. More expensive than the mt09sp and the 2025 ducati street fighter v2. Doesn't seem that much of a bargain to me.
@@markstevens7442 Interesting I see the cb100r is still on the NZ website for $21995 so it’s going to be more expensive than that. I wonder if the aggressive pricing is more European aimed than down here.
Kawasaki will have to do what they did in the 70’s when H brought out the CB750 and then K brought out the amazing Z1; that is go back to the drawing board with their forthcoming Z900….tell me I’m wrong?
Great review. However, I do believe you may be extra sensitive to throttle responses. I heard you say similar things on many other bikes, when I rode them, I have not noticed a snatchy throttle at all. I wonder if this will be the same where I ride it and feel it’s perfect
As my usual Christmas biking holiday (leave the bike in storage until Spring in Spain, €19/mth),not the best place for a bike launch, rozzers usually everywhere, more interested in speed than booze...road up to Guadalest is great, and probably Spain's best motorcycle museum is up there, with a great restaurant next door...just watch out for the big cats(puma, panther, whatever?),i have her/him photographed! Right bike, wrong colour...SP in red please!
How do you manage to get bike storage in Spain mate? Absolutely love the roads there (the CV-70 is sublime!) and I was thinking of leaving a bike there over winter just to get my fix, rather than fly over and rent something out.
@waqxville Wee Dutch guy at the side of the N332 at Pedreguer (Denia)...there was a train to Gata ,but it was being upgraded, not sure if its reopened yet...off injured, so I've missed the last 2 Christmas down there...usually head out to the islands for NY
@@AAKhanivore didn't mention any drama, just said it looks awful. But what's the point of these exhausts, if they're just getting replaced by everyone anyway?
@ as you said, they do what they need to do to pass the test. I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen with the ones we replace them with. Just be thankful we can still pass the MoT test with the after market ones (for now)!
You will see honest reviews on this bike in 2 years when they update it. The journos will then tell us all the problems with the first bike.....The first MT09 was a dog (except for engine) but it was kept quiet (by journos) until everything was fixed years later.
You absolutely con NOT use all 150+hp on public roads, we are getting WAAAAY too desensitized with all these 200+hp bikes available that this is now considered meh it's kinda fast I guess. I can barley use more than half the power on my 2020 z900 without worrying about hitting felony speeds SMH
Depends, here in central Europe where we do not have police state and speed traps every 100m we can do 200+ kmh on side road without any issue and fine is cheap too 🙂
I know i know i know, but its the, "so you couldnt afford a streetfighter" Residuals will be appaling for its success of sales. As people will get sucked in to buy one. But hey ...
I think the young designers at Honda have made a peach of a bike , well done 👍. 1000 bikes good luck getting one. Looking forward to the English road report on our billiard flat roads (😂) will be a real test of running gear . Great review Toad . 👍
I should have said this in the review but you're right, on out pothole riddled roads it might be a different feeling bike, but with adjustable suspension at both ends there is at least some wriggle room - and you aren't trying to wrestle 200bhp!

People complaining about the exhaust, THAT'S THE BEST PART, it means most of the baffling is on the can, and a cheap slip on is all you need
Now that is a good point. I think there's an SC Project pipe already available. 😁👍
Very good point, and SC do a sweet looking slip on that apparently sounds very naughty!

Well done Honda, I hope you sell truck loads of these and force the others to lower there premium prices.
We shall see. It seems like Honda is building based on its manufacturing power, not many brands can turn out the number of bikes they do!
I think they will sell the first container of them very quickly!
@@visordownwhen you said only 1000 coming, did you get the impression there’s limited supply going forwards, or just a price adjustment in the wings?
