    Thanks, learned a lot. My CFX sat about 8 hours with a pellet in it and now is extremely hard to rotate loading cylinder. Think perhaps something is wedged between the cylinder front and barrel rear face? Will take it apart and look now that you showed me how to do so.

    I've got a cfx as well. Though its my cheapest guns it's my favorite. The price/quality of this gun is just amazing. I couldnt wish for a more accurate springgun for this price. And with the charlie trigger al problems are fixed. Though I'm really satisfied with this gun, do you know if they're any tunes besided the trigger for this rifle?

    Great Video thanks. I have a problem trying to cock the air rifle. the cocking mechanism will not lock for some reason. I have taken it down but not removed the spring etc. also the slug gets squashed when trying to close the chamber. Any idea why it wont cock ?

      Sounds like the latch isn't catching(best way I can describe it). It catches on a notch in the spring/piston sleeve. Getting that specific part back together and working is tricky, I haven't done it in many years but that was the spot I had trouble. I know the latch has a spring on it, pushing it upwards to catch the sleeve notch. Maybe the latch isn't in the proper position? It must be held downwards on reassembly.

    • @garypalise5369

      @@yz250ftony thanks Tony
      The latch is on the end of the cocking arm, does it go in between the slot on the spring sleeve ? As at the moment it is sitting on the end of the spring sleeve.

    • @yz250ftony
      @yz250ftony  Рік тому +1

      @@garypalise5369 the entire latch should lay horizontally and a small tab on it is the catch. When the upper(spring mechanism/barrel assembly) is removed from the stock, the latch will naturally sit higher. It needs to be pushed downwards on assembly or else the tab will not be in position to catch the spring sleeve.

    I have the exact same gun...i've had it for quite some time now and it won't fire out the pellet! Do you have any idea of what the problem could be? I really love this gun and don't want to just toss it away because I can't repair it. Please Help!...

    • @yz250ftony
      @yz250ftony  8 років тому

      Check the barrel for any obstruction. Pull the cocking lever down just enough to open the rotation breach but don't cock it. Shinea bright light down the muzzle and look for light in the breach, or push a wood dowel or brass rod down the barrel and feel for any blocking. There's no need to toss it. These rifles are very simple and can be repaired. Trying to fire it can damage the seals.

      I have the same exact problem. My gun won't shoot the pellet but like maybe 7 feet. I took it apart today. The plunger's seal was half stripped so I'm guessing air is leaking and going the opposite way of the pellet. I think what im talking about is thr plunger, Anyway, your gun probably doesn't work because the cylindrical piece that pushes the air to propel the pellet has broken or been stripped

      Honestly I don't think so but it's the same in reverse. Getting the trigger group and spring release in is tricky, so is compressing the spring in enough to bolt the retaining block. Mines now nitro piston converted, it was even harder to compress it for the retaining block.

      yz250ftony I'm assuming it's the same as yours, since I believe the only difference is the wooden stock.

      Probably very similar, but how do you access the screws in the fore grip? are they exposed or covered(like here)? i've never handled a cfx royal.

    Tony, I tore mine down and have a problem with the trigger group.
    Did you compress the spring then install the trigger group, or did you install the trigger group then compress the spring ? Neither seem to be working for me as the trigger seems to be hanging up on the spring. Might you toss some insight my way please ? thank you

    • @yz250ftony
      @yz250ftony  10 років тому

      Install the trigger group and then the main spring. At 3:50, you'll see the position of the spring catch/release(part of the trigger group) as the group is removed. the catch/release mechanism is the top-most part of the group. It has a spring on it and when its removed from the plunger tube, it wants to push away from it. when installing, make sure the spring on the catch/release is compressed when re-installed. That step is easily overlooked and it gave me trouble the first time i rebuilt my cfx.

    • @IndyGeoff100
      @IndyGeoff100 10 років тому

      Thank you very much. I cleaned mine up, did some polishing and tightened up where the tophat slides into the spring. Spring twang was cut to almost zero. I will see how long that holds up. Thanks again for the reply.

      No problem! These guns are pretty easy to work on, it's just that gamo wont tell people how to do it themselves. i called gamo about ordering a new spring, they wouldnt do it. gotta go through 3rd party.

      theChaosEngineer1 Thats a pretty common problem with especially todays highly pressurized air rams, but still occurs with spring pistons also. Usually just getting a solid one piece scope mount that has wide barrel bands should keep the scope from creeping. Have not had that happen on my Gamo Accu .22, nor have I ever had to re-tighten the the stock screws, which is pretty common on the harder hitting springer/air pistons. That's one of the negative side effects on "magnum" springers/air pistons, to name a few. I found the airguns shooting in the 15fpe range seem to offer the best of both worlds. Plenty of power to hunt normal airgun large game, like raccoons, woodchucks and oppossums. I have plenty 27fpe airguns that hit harder, but also tend to be messing with re-tighten screws (even with loctite) and far more hold sensitive...If I almost can completly penetrate a raccoons head at 50 yards and shoot sub 1in groups at 50 yards with the Accu .22. Im not going to be able to make an instant kill any faster then already with the 27fpe ags. I have a better chance of missing or worse, wounding them at that range, due to recoil reducing accuracy.

  • @yz250ftony
    @yz250ftony  12 років тому +2

    Yeah its possible that the pellet was not pushed all the way into the barrel and the skirt did not clear the loading cylinder. the skirts are thin soft lead, so they will smash easily. ive had this happen a few times. you can turn the cylinder to open it and remove the pellet. if its taking a lot of force or if you are not comfortable with trying to rotate it, then take it apart and see what the problem is. for more help on rebuilding it search for a cfx diagram online. thanks for watchin!

    did you take the supressor looking section off the end? by chance is there a thread or anything to be able to attach a proper supressor?

    • @yz250ftony
      @yz250ftony  7 років тому

      I've taken it off before. No threads. The end of the barrel has splines to align the break lever holder, aka muzzle(the suppressor thingy). In one of my newer cfx tear down/gas ram conversion videos i have a suppressor fixed on it. I pounded an aluminum tube into the muzzle down to the barrel, that's the "core". It works very well, holds straight, but cannot be removed without a lot of force. I've glued on a threaded piece to the outside of the muzzle at which i screwed them onto, but i have since changed design to conform with local laws. removable is ideal, but here "intentions" become questionable so I made mine permanently fixed.

      AcE_TrilleX no. it'll probably fatigue sooner. it's a hard metal with a memory. despite being beefy, they can and will crack(I've done it). just buy a new spring or do a nitro piston swap. I have a video up on the nitro conversion.

    I have a Gamo Big Cat I was wondering if the barrel can be replaced with one of those Whisper barrels if they are interchangeable. Been searching today to see if I can order just the barrel. Perhaps even get one in .22 caliber rather than .177 to make my Big Cat more versatile. Not sure if the Whisper barrel is actually reducing the decibels or just there for a cocking handle. My home made silencers I have put on my Big Cat just don't do the job of killing noise or holding firmly to the ball end.
