I always love seeing a video of people repairing these things which are often jut thrown away as they are considered not worth to fiddle with or being just too complicated for average person to try and repair.
Hi. Thanks for the tips! Mine was also bent, but no major damage to the electronics. I just took out the metal part, put it back securing the pins, then tightened the metal part by compressing it with a pair of pliers and it works without issues for now. Hope it helps someone.
DUDE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESTORING MY FAITH!!! Now I know all I need is better equipment! I'm used to discarding as soon as is doesn't work, but I like to tinker.....! Ps2 og and slim, here I come! (Again...)
19:24 LOL ;-) I like what you did though! At first it seemed like randomly poking around with a soldering iron, putting SMD components back in place and I was wondering if it would be worth the trouble. But you got it back to work and even fitted a new case. Nice job!
nice work dude! i want to ask something, how about transmitter inside the mouse, can we change with the trasmitter from the other mouse? cause i lost the dongle, so i thought we can replace the receiver and transmitter from the other mouse.
You're a GENIUS Please help me fixing my USB dongle, the case is just broken, so it's very loose that it doesn't contact well withe the USB port, please help
I'm impressed your work and this video. My laptop fell with the dongle in it. Dongle side hit the ground. After that I had to put downward pressure on the dongle to make it work. I felt I lacked the practice and the equipment to do what you've done. But since mine wasn't severely damaged, I saw another video where you can remove the electronics and bake it in an oven. I tried 400 F for 8 minutes. The performance seems fine now. @the equalizer I'd be curious about your thoughts on this method. Thanks again for a great video.
Hi Patrick, yes this could make sense. Lead free solder is quite brittle so I suspect you just broke some connections when the dongle got damaged. By putting it in the oven you melted the solder back into place I guess. Either way, good on you :) saves it from landfill.
My laptop slipped off my sofa and impacted the floor right where the USB dongle protrudes, bending it at a 45 degree angle. I thought I would be able to simply find a replacement but after some research, found out that it is irreplaceable. So basically I have an $100 keyboard and mouse that is worthless because of a little dongle.
Can I please khow how to assemble the metal housing back or can I solder any other usb cable's front part that goes into the usb port to the pcb so that I have to not use the metal housing.
I use the one linked below because it was cheaper to buy this than convert my old Amscope from Bincoluar to Trinocular and buy the camera! I use the Amscope Stand though due to its superior stability. My only issue is that even with a reduction lens on the Camera port, its still not wide enough angle for my liking. The Eakins Scope head is identical to the Amscope in terms of Build Quality, Design and Optics (to my eyes anyway) etc, however the Amscope is considerably more expensive. www.aliexpress.com/item/32851330647.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4decXhb8

Yup, I have some iPad caps that I use for that sort of thing. I think they're 10uf or something like that. These caps are normally used for power rails and their value isn't critical as long as its in the ballpark ; its better to have something there than nothing.
