Imagine being the GOAT. Litrally the Messi/Ronaldo of your sport. The greatest of a generation, and getting no recognition. A big brand name needs to see Charlie and make him a household name like Danny Mac.
yeah basically nobody gives a f*** about trials except the riders themselves. I've been thinking about that for a long time and these are my thoughts: 1) no big players who would inject big moneys into the sport and make it a business. Like imagine, if all of the sudden we have some big financial incentive to be a good rider what would happen (see crossfit) 2) to the general public it doesn't make much difference if you are the goat or an average Joe who can do some jumps on 6 pallets. It all looks the same for them and the most interesting part will likely be that your bike doesn't have a seat. Ough and you sure need strong legs to stand all the time. 3) very hard, expensive and slow to start.
and the trialsy style is totally unattractive for young ppl. No cool looking guys with tattoos in full face helmets and looking badass, just mostly skinny guys wearing crappy branded clothes that would have been cool 20 years ago. And ladies wearing same stuff.
The problem with the sport has always been the same mate, it’s not big and it’s made smaller by top riders like Charlie and others these days who don’t demand enough from ‘sponsorship’ giving someone a few free bits and bobs is easy. But to make a living out of it like Jack Carthy. You’ve got to do things with demands. Don’t be walked over, walk away if the deal isn’t right. Something I noticed towards the end of my tenure. The way trials “is” currently, how it’s now scored etc. It’s shit compared to how it was. Sections going back around and over themselves. It’s harder to follow now than it was 15-20 years ago. I know things change and progress but competition trials has changed for the worse. But some of these “kids” I see videos of online is next level, different gravy. For them to go forward they need to make demands of what they want not be told what they’re getting. You’ve got to know “your” worth. Some skill/balance and ability in this video of Charlie like 👏👏👌 but comparing him to Danny Mac and even Carthy (yes he’s getting the better of him at times now) but look what Jack has done and made of himself. Trials is his job/life and has been since before he left school. It’s a real shame that not enough of these ‘talents’ make a living out of it. But trials is a small sport in a big cycling world and the bike industry is on its arse and has been for a good 2 years 😢 mega shame! But I’m with you in what you say mate
@@Waynio240983 good point about the riders should be more demanding 👌But I think we should add the other side to the equation - what the sponsors are willing to pay will be always proportional to what they can get from the deal. And we have low views and not many followers apart from the riders, they families etc. There should come someone with big moneys and invest in the sport. E.g. by organizing a huge event on a 30k ppl stadium level scale. With huge media coverage. Few gigs like that and all of the sudden trials is a famous sport. With money big enough you can convince ppl that white is black and black is white, I think that would be totally possible. Long story short - go look for some arabian sheiks to sponsor in the world champs :D
That was a fucking joke Thing I like about Charlie is little stuff like when he does that postbox line, the exit is fucking ace, or wen he goes to a rail always rolls over the last one like a complete disregard and nobody mentions that? It’s mental some of the positions he gets in Riding is fucking huge, techy, creative, everything You genuine deserve every opportunity trials can give you Charlie, 100% best rider Iv ever seen Edit was ace aswell And cheers to Adrian for pushing media how you have! Absolute LANDMARK of a video
Means a lot from one of the kings of street edits! Trials riders appreciate the small details amongst the madness. Question is, was it good enough to get you back on a bike? 😅
The level of athleticism and bike control required for every move in this video can scarcely be believed. Amazing video. Jaw on the floor. Bravo Charlie!
no joke, and grace. i was walking a section with some dudes in Bentonville and we didnt know a specific circumstance on a rule, so we asked the dude next to us and he graciously explained it to us. then i realized it was charlie rolls. lmao cool dude IRL
It's hard to make the seatless, squeaky-braked bike look as fun as a street trials bike, but you've done it Charlie! That riding is absolutely mind-blowing!
i've been watching trials since 30 years ! my favorite rider is legendary TRA ! this vid takes it to the next level ! the energy, the skills are mind blowing !
Absolute game changer! The power, execution and pure detail of all of the lines are something you could only imagine. Love the nod to the TGS era with the likes of gapping over rails but hooking the slippy round pole off sand and the castle topped wall from a gap - speechless. Watched it on repeat. A lot. Epic vid and edit is exquisite 🤌
What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! Bro the commitment required with those hucks where your front tire is barely grabbing onto the next feature is just absurd. If you miss it's just your nose straight to a very hard unforgiving surface. Your skills are _UNREAL_
The work involved to execute these moves to make them look effortless (when they are nothing but!) is insane. Great to see an artist at the top of his game.
That's absolutely unbelievable, wow. Totally blown my mind. I've been around for the glory days of youtube BMX and MTB, watched a bit of trials here and there mostly Danny Mac (obviously) and loads of Ali Clarkson but never hugely got into it myself... then youtube recommends me this UNIT of a video out of nowhere. Loved it. Great job Charlie and team. Incredible.
Yeahhh bwoiiii!!! Literally killing it in every way with precision, finesse and size of everything! 🤯😍 Good ol watocon covered majority leaving not much to say but the whole thing is just astounding tbh and a pleasure to watch. Credit to Mr Grainger too he did a fantastic job of lacing it all together to that beat! Didnt even know he was still kicking about in the trials realm!
The absolute skill is just undeniable. It's the thought process that takes it way beyond. To think "I can get up, on or over it", is what makes it truly incredible.
Incredible riding as usual. Always love how much fun Charlie's having on the bike, and the flair he puts into his riding. Also, big Thanks to Mindcontrol / Adrian for making this happen and pushing trials (media) forward. Looking riding with you both next year :)
Wtffffff, had to watch it a lot of times to really figure out the work you put there. Never did trials, i'm a basic mtb / bmx rider but you just blew my mind. Hope you'll get the recognition you deserve for your excellent riding !
Saw trial riding the first time Baltimore Harbor right by the Carousel. Dude killed it too! Ended up skateboarding...but all that stuff when youre young helps the stoke. Sick part!
Absolutely blew my mind. It is amazing to watch a "competition" rider just have fun riding massive street/TGS trials with such flow, amazing technique, unlimited power... Your control is so high that you probably dont see a risk to do so many huge drops, up to fronts on a rail and so much more... Any other competition rider would never try these things because of fear of getting injured. Honestly if you grab again the Zoo! or any other old street bike, dress with some jeans and no gloves, it is literally the Damon Watson / Craig Lee Scott of 2024, but one who also wins at UCI World competition level. Bike trials has never seen something like this. Congratulations and big respect from a 31 year old trials rider from Spain👏🏻

Amazing, holy heck. 🤯
To ride at this level and still have fun with it is what the sport needs.
For sure, imagination and style combined with top level riding

The lines are crazy, and it’s amazing how effortlessly and playfully Charlie rolls through everything!
