My wife and I knew Geoff Rowe - Jethro - in the real world, for many years - decades, in fact. He was a lovely, gentle generous man and much conversation always ensued. You'll like his Cornwall accent, and his humour, Alan.
I saw him many times, but only met him once. I told him I'd been a fan for thirty years, after seeing him on The Zeebrugge ferry disaster appeal video. He was very keen to talk to me about the show and the other artists who took part. We chatted for about ten minutes. A lovely man.
I met him at one of his gigs. As you probably know, he liked to go outside for a smoke in the interval so I went up to him and apologised for being late to the show. He said it was OK and said he was glad we made it. I then said we left on Wednesday to get here on time but the bliddy train didn't stop. He roared with laughter, realising that I'd got him. (Only true Jethro fans will get that.) Lovely man, died far too soon.
Wholesome filth lol! This is the best explanation of Jethro's humour I have ever heard. It would have been perfect for the name of his next dvd. RIP Jethro.
I saw Jethro live many times and I met him in 2018. He was my favourite comic, and I miss him so much. You never knew what the punch line would be with a Jethro story. I know many Jethro jokes and am always asked to tell a Jethro story, which must be told with a Cornish accent. RIP Geoff Rowe. ❤
Jethro is a local and national legend here in the uk. He comes from Cornwal which has a rich mining and Fishing and pirate history ,small hamlets ,villages and towns and is small peninsula on the south west of England. Its where im from . Cornwall and its original population "the cornish" has its own language, not largely spoken these days but the word Cornwall in cornish is Kernow . Famous for pasties, clotted cream, world famous ciders and cheese . Living at the far reaches of England far from London and its government, Cornwall was renowned for piracy and bootleg Rum contraband . Its the land of the myth of king Authur , where pixies and many magical beings of folklore originate as well as ghosts , and sirens of the sea, mermaids ect . Interestingly D day during ww2 was executed from falmouth one of the deepest natural harbour in the world and many of the small creeks and waterways were full of boats loaded with US and other forces who were all stationed all around the area. Falmouth was also one of the staging areas for one of the most daring raids of ww2 where boats were launched carrying what we would call now as delta force or commandos on a suicide mission to knock out a german dry dock which completely knocked a safe haven for the Bismark out of action and the big ship of the german fleet panicked and spent the rest of the war in a Norwegian ford before that was taken out too.
We have jigsaws here too. Often see carpenters use them to angle base boards and have used them to do quick rounded cuts you can't do with a regular saw.
My uncle worked for 45 years in a factory where they made jigsaw puzzles. One day they came to him and said they were making him redundant. He just went to pieces.
I saw jethro twice, ridiculous funny man and insanely kind in real life. Both times he came out before the show started and was talking to people as the theatre was filling
I'm Cornish like Jethro ❤❤ born in the same little village 😂😂😂😂 classic and brilliant total chaos and Legend don't forget Denzil Penberty 😅😅😅😅 plus Slip along Trevaskis 😂😂😂brilliant thanks again
My grandmother Roberta (Bobby) used to drink with him in a pub in Bodmin. She always said how he was a genuine nice guy who was the same in person as he is on TV/Stage. She died around 14 years ago in Bodmin from Cancer but living and returning to Bodmin often from Hampshire over the years to see her and other family in my childhood and teenage years were the happiest years of my life. ❤
You looked a little lost with the last joke. Jigsaw puzzle is generally just abbreviated to 'jigsaw' in the UK. He said that his friend bought his kids a jigsaw, by 11 o'clock they had cut all their fingers off.
Hey, Jethro was one of the finest comedians ever. So many videos about him also Dave Allen, Southern Ireland Comedian absolute legends. Dave Allen Adam and Eve also Dave Allen on flying. Absolute geniuses.
Espite being British I only duscovered Jethro a few months ago. Id heard of him just never heard any of his material. Such a funny guy, such fantastic stories and perfect delivery. It made me realise that I hadnt heard comedy that made me laugh so hard in a very long time
Good video thanx. In the UK a "jigsaw" also means an electric saw, as well as the traditional puzzle, hence why the kids cut all their fingers off! 8-)
A jigsaw is a electric saw and a jigsaw made fr cardboard or wood. In your country is a skill saw with a little thin blade in our country it means both and it goes through wood like butter not saying that you try to spread anything wooden with butter other than on your toast, you'll bite into it and get splitters from that butter wood Love mum
That cat story was true but it happened to Liam Neilson, he ran over a cat! When he went out of the car he saw the cat lying flat out next to his car! He saw it move so reach reached for a hammer in the boot and hit the cat to put it out of its mystery! Just then an old lady ran out of her house screaming at him that he murdered her cat! He explained what had happened and she replied No my cat always lays outside the house in the Sun! By this time a few people had gathered around the car and one of them pointed out there was a dead cat stuck to the front wheel! True Story he told Billy Connelly and Billy told me!
You didn't appear to understand the jigsaw joke. A jigsaw is either a saw for cutting out shapes or a puzzle of many parts. This man bought his kids the wrong one.

It looked like you didn't get the jigsaw joke at the end? A Jig Saw is an electric saw, and a Jigsaw is a puzzle. His friend bought the wrong 'Jigsaw'.
I know. I got it. It didn't land as well as the first one about the dead cat. I heard jigsaw and then cut the fingers off and was like well, wrong jigsaw.

Brilliant! I've been fortunate to see him perform live twice, and a lot of my family are fans. 'What happened was...'

I wonder what you'd say if I asked you what time it is......
Jethro was brilliant! By the way, the joke about the Jigsaw, in the UK we have a type of high speed saw called a Jigsaw, hence the joke.
We have jigsaws here too. Often see carpenters use them to angle base boards and have used them to do quick rounded cuts you can't do with a regular saw.
I think they may call them 'sabre saws' in the US

A jigsaw is also a power tool with a fast moving cutting blade. (for those of you who may not know)
I get that whenever someone says "Jigsaw" and I say 'Puzzle...it's a puzzle!'
Jigsaw is two things.
A game and a power tool.
I got the chance to go his shows a couple of times. Probably hardest I’ve ever laughed.
A British jigsaw is an electric saw where the blade moves up and down. Typical English, two things same name... Hence the punchline.😊
THANKYOU so much for looking at Jethro

A jigsaw is a power tool as well as a puzzle with hundreds of pieces
You should take a look at his Camborne train joke, potentially his most well known one
