Collegiate East - Colorado's finest hike

Join me on an epic hiking adventure from Salida to Leadville, traversing the rugged terrain of Collegiate Loop East. Contrary to popular belief, if the western side is snow-free, the eastern branch proves to be more challenging for hikers. Having experienced both routes firsthand, I can confidently attest to this fact. Along the way, we encounter iconic peaks such as Mt. Yale, Mt. Princeton, and Mt. Harvard, each adding to the allure of the trail. From breathtaking vistas to exhilarating climbs, this journey showcases the beauty and difficulty of Colorado's high country.
For the end, we've decided to climb Mt. Massive. yet another epic peak in Colorado.

Fun to watch your journey! Was this ascent in summer 2023? I ascended Mt Massive late May 2023 and the snow with postholing was no joke. I ascended from the south west and descended the east slope to CDT.

@@NHTesla most areas it’s hand tools only out there at cache creek. sluice, shovel, pans. I got buddies who dredge the arkansas river south of leadville
