Start by calculating your Kua Number below!
Hello everyone! Today we are going to be diving into Feng Shui content and understanding your personal Kua number and how it relates to your home and surrounding environment. Armed with your personal Kua number and guiding principles, you will have the knowledge to harness more positivity into your life and bring greater happiness and success.
After watching this video, you will be able to find the best directions for you to sleep, work, study, LIVE and simply THRIVE in! Are you ready to learn more about your Kua number? Let’s dive right in!
To calculate your Kua number, you need your year of birth and gender.
Take the last two numbers of the year you were born and add them together. Reduce them down to a single digit. For example, if you were born in 1957 then you take the 57; 5+7=12; 1+2=3. Then depending on your gender, follow the next instruction:
MALE - take the single digit and subtract it from 10. Example: 1957 single number of 3; 10-3=7. The Kua Number is 7.
FEMALE - take the single digit and add 5. Using the 1957 single number of 3; 3+5=8. The Kua Number is 8.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: It is important to know that Kua numbers follow the Chinese Lunar calendar. So if you’re born in January or February, go online and check to see what day Lunar New Year started that year.
Male: If you were born after the year 2000, subtract the Kua factor from 9
Women: If you were born after the year 2000, add 6 to your Kua Factor

Great Video Julie, I bought the House I live in now from a Chinese couple, the House is aligned with the compass, all 4 major walls face a compass direction they did most of the Feng Shui work, Fireplace on the South wall upstairs, pond in the front yard. Front door faces West, and the address reduces to my KUA number.
NICE!!! 👏🏻 I can instantly tell when a home has been Feng Shui’d when I walk into it. All the stove, sink, and fireplaces are in the right spot 😂

My k no is 8, so I'll be in the west group, our apartment door is facing north. We live in the Eastside though. I followed your instructions on the shi I put the bed towards the door and the headboard is solid wood. The Scary part for me is that we only have one door, so I feel like the energy is going around the place. We been here 19 years and we have bad sleep and don't let me start about the neighbors. 😂 we are planning to buy a home next year. So I will keep this in mind. By the way, my spouse number is 8 as well.

My number is 3 in the East group. I've watched your other Feng Shui videos so I know what and where things go in my tiny condo. My front door faces South but my East wall has windows so my wood element is there along with all my plants. The only thing is deviate from is my bedroom because my command position is on the NW wall instead of the N wall. I have too many doors in my bedroom so the NW walls works best. I love this content and look forward to more.
I prioritize the command position over compass directions in the bedroom so NW is fine as long as you have the best vantage point 🙌🏻

Hello Julie, this video is a great quick simplified explanation for applying feng Shui in my life! My KUA # is 6 and my house is facing south. My west side of the house is actually an atrium without a roof (open) ; has 2 perpendicular walls and 2 perpendicular sliding doors and behind 1 wall is a bathroom in the house which is part of the west side! In the atrium is where we usually chat and smoke. If the atrium considered part of the house, what do you suggest it should be decorated with for good luck or better chi? Thank you!
Also Julie, where do I focus on money coming in please? Do I go with baqua and put focus on purple in SE and put money tree with coins there or do I go with my Kua number 8 and put money tree and coins in SW corner of my home instead, and completely surpress SE purple bc that is my total loss? Great video! I esp appreciated the problem-solving part at the end. My husband and I have opposite Kua numbers 7 and 3. Your suggestions to make sure to sit facing your best direction were GREAT! Bed placement seems more difficult to work out good for one/bad for the other. I hope there will be another video with additional solutions. These Feng Shui videos have been great! Thanks so much!
We won’t win them all. My practice involves a lot of trial and error. Some years the compass directions favor my husband, other years favor me. That’s what I love about FS, it’s never static 👏🏻

Hi Julie - Your feng shui series are my favorite and what got me hooked on your channel! If you are not too busy~ I was looking for some guidance about my Kua number. My Kua number is 3 and my husband and I recently purchased a house that faces west. I have seen some feng shui masters suggest to just move, but that is obviously not feasible for most people. Is there anything I can do to combat if my home faces a direction that is not auspicious for me? Also, my husband's kua number is 7- What do you do when one spouses are in different directional groups?

Well, now my primary br is a total loss, and I have 5 ghosts! Do I have to put elephants and crystals in my room? I can't change room or bed position. I'd love information about how we can counteract the areas of our home that are inauspicious for our personal kua number -- I don't want to have to avoid whole sections of my house (e.g., my family room/den is in the west part of my house but that is the "total loss" section of my house!). Perfect timing on this video 😁I'm a 6. female 1955. I am re-decorating and implementing some feng shui decorating ideas but I'm confused - my house is skewed. The front door faces SW and the living, dining, kitchen, sunroom are open along the NW to NE side. My bedroom is on the SE side with a very little room to angle the bed. Usable walls in the room are NE or SW (door and half bath door are on NW) I want to concentrate on health first and creativity. Any tidbits of advice for me?

Does our auspicious directions ever change? Is it related to the change in STARS? We are getting ready to renovate our top floor into a huge master suite. My hubby (2) and I (7) are both WEST. The main focus will be a wall of windows in the SOUTH with an Ocean View. I would love the create an internal wall that our bed would be against and our bed facing SW so we get a sunset view (not full sun goes down behind a small hill). This would also allow for a command position of being able to see the door leading to the lower floors. However we wouldn’t be able to see the door to the north side patio. Which is more important? Direction the bed faces (SW) or being able to see both doors leading to lower floors or outside. Does a diagonal wall create an issue? Or if the wall is wooden slats?
Is the KUA number long term versus the Flying Stars? If not, at what frequency does the KUA number or auspicious directions change? I am a 7 and my hubby is an 2 ~ both West. Our current bedroom is in the east with the headboard facing south (not good for either of us). I will put lucky items in the appropriate corners. When we create our master suite I will plan for the bed to be in a more auspicious direction.
For my office in the southwest corner ~ if I put the desk facing West / Northwest ~ with a wall to my back ~ it is directly in front of the door and could be seen down the hallway. I would have an awesome ocean view from my desk in this location. Which is more important ~ the door location or which direction I am facing? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Interesting. My kua number is 9, so East group. In western numerology, my birth number is 3 (which has always been my favorite number, a along with any number associated with 3, including 6,9, 13, 30, and 333). My favorite tarot card is The Hermit, which is also number 9. My birthday is 06/19/1994. 9s are clearly a very auspicious number for me. I also find it interesting how, according to your chart, 9 correlates with the element fire. In the western zodiac air and water are my predominant elements.
I just moved into my friend's basement until I can afford a place of my own. Unfortunately, there is only one direction I can place my air mattress because of the only power outlet. I need to figure out which direction my head lays, but I believe it's to the west-ish.
Such a huge difference when you follow Western vs. Eastern… sun vs. lunar calendar… I love astrology and numerology as well, but try not to mix them up since the dates can throw you off 🤪

hi Julie - I love your sharing....in the chart it showed 5 ghosts, 6 killings and total loss - what are these?
These are negative directions that may “cause” accidents and mishaps/ burglaries/ even “death” in some cases. They sound terrible, but can me mitigated by amplifying those corners with elements and colors that correspond to the chart. In some cases, you can also place good luck charms there. That’s another video that I’m lining up to discuss in detail. I wanted you to grasp the bagua / Kua concept first then we can dive a bit deeper into the subject ☺️

I have a question : when applying the bagua to a room/house, do we prioritise associations based on the natural/original "model"/directions, or do we implement those related to our kua number ?
For exemple, if the North East Corner of my bedroom (which is associated with the element wood) also happens to be my Personal Growth corner as an 8 kua number (associated with Earth), should I prioritise my "kua element" in this area or the wood element as per the more "univeral bagua" ? (The same goes for my other lucky areas/directions).
And what do we do with unlucky areas/directions ? Do we follow the "depersonalized" bagua associations, or use our kua element everywhere ?

Just wondering, wouldn't you need to sit on the east side of the dining table to face west? Or is it considered facing west if you are on the west side?
Place yourself on the west side. If you can’t, second best option is to “face” west

The best fengshui Baqua lay out for tiny house/RV/van life ❤ also then detailed for each Kua number for solo traveler like what would you do if you lived that style and bought a van and had each Kua number ❤ that would be awesomeness time million! And that would also detail in the same time each kua number for adjustment even for regular house if I am correct?
When I watch tiny house videos and see electric set up or dirty water test up under the bed, or dirty clothes hamper under head board or dirty shoes still under bed!!!
I know that water and electric set up should be at far away from main areas, probably stuck up in bathroom area or entry or kitchen. For bedroom should be only for clean clothes storage and living area maybe for creation, work storage and maybe extra food storage. Cleaning stuff again away with dirty clothes and shoes… but everyone is really having zero ideas and no think how they brain is fried with electric sockets and main charging stations and batteries right in their electro magnetic field where they sleep. Please consider this❤

@@JulieKhuuyou are an amazing designer and in the same time an architect, bc fengshui is really architecture wisdom on ancient Asia, there were no architects per say, everyone went to fengshui masters for advice about homes, for you is natural and common sense bc you grew up with it. Even the best natural six sense creators like Caroline winkler, lone fox or Paige wassel are great at their design bc they use really in-printed naturally six sense that is right, yet they don’t know they are doing fengshui and that is why they are successful bc they are connected, their parents had a class and wisdom inprinted in them… but didn’t study anything reg design like you pro or grew up with masters invited into their homes like your mom did. So many designers everywhere but only few with wisdom of family wealth through fengshui out there. That is your signature what makes you stand out from all those design trend following designers. Bc you are natural and real and wise and beautiful and sooo practical and use her home, instead of having it on display. So many of us grew up with never sitting in or used dining rooms on display, never ever used china or Chrystal glass, just to wash it every year and put it back in mausoleum cabinet for ego trip.
Ok question 😂 when you say facing a direction should you be looking that direction? Or for example when sleeping should the top of your head, if you drew an arrow straight up out of your head be pointing to the auspicious direction? I’m a 1. My bedroom is in the south east corner and my top of my head is east, feet west. lol help!
This is my question also. I'm a 1=E, but if I put my headboard on the E wall I face W. If I put it on the W wall and face E, it puts me in SW which is bad! Confused!
Use the compass for true directions. Your head should be on the East wall (so technically, you “look” West, but your head is pointed East). Hope this clears it up!

Correct, North America is all northern hemisphere Catherine. I have a lot of viewers from Australia/ New Zealand/ Indonesia (to name a few) which are located in the southern hemisphere ☺️
I'm really so confused
So our main door and our house faces towards the Northwest direction, so walls of my room are located at NW, SW, NE and SE, and the corner are north, south, east and west. I'm 2, so my auspicious direction is West, but it lies in the corner so how do I layout my bedroom. Help!

Don't forget the compass is backwards in feng shui, and you can also generate relationships through displaying pictures of 2 Mandarin ducks and or 2 koi fish.
Kau=6. House faces West, sits East. I live in NW-SW part of home, so that part I always understood. But my front door is on the side at North that I use daily. Being my total loss area, I have black planters outside with white flowers as it is on cusp of NW line on compass. What else can I do to protect myself?
All the other locations work with kitchen in South, bathroom/laundry SE, spare room East. Bedroom is in NE but can't get headboard in Auspicious direction as it's in SE facing. NE has big window.
Total loss location has always stumped me.

Take compass directions inside your bedroom. Whichever your best direction is (let’s say West), your headboard should be placed on that West wall.

I came to the comments with the same question. Since the numbers only go 1-9, I'm assuming I must reduce my number - 10 - again to 1. Hopefully, Julie will see this at some point and confirm. This is an awesome video!

Do you have to use the compass direction your door faces, or can you use the front entrance door like "north" on the Bagua map; which is what I have been doing...
You can do either, but I prefer true compass directions because it’s consistent and keeps my practice accurate. There are many different “schools” of Feng Shui just like Psychology (which is my background). They all have substance, you decide which you vibe with the most ☺️

1. Best to BE in that direction. For instance- bedroom on the East side of your home (if you’re east facing group) AND THEN…
2. Once you’re inside the bedroom, you’ll want to place your headboard on the East side of room for even better protection.
So we do what we can with our existing conditions Susanne. We won’t win them all which is why Feng Shui allows for the flexibility. Hope that helps!
