- Kayak fishing for monster striped bass is always fun. Especially when its in Watauga River in East Tennessee. I visit Stillwater Flats and explore the river on their private property.

Productive setup, I like the pivoting rod holder extension I’ve just the 7” straight extensions, think I’ll order a couple of the pivoting extensions. Have a 12’ Hobie 360 that I don’t get to float as much as I’d like. Always find your videos fun and informative, Thank you
Absolutely, they are definitely great rod holders. Sounds like you’ve got an awesome set up yourself. Tight lines.
Great patience = Solid fish! That thing fought hard, good job landing him. Thanks for the kayak walkthrough Michael!
Absolutely, it was a fun day of Fishing. Glad you enjoyed the kayak breakdown.
One thing I recommend is setting up a slip bobber, very nice because then you don't have 4 feet of line hanging off the end of your rod.
Not a bad idea
I got my kayak with a trolling motor that is wireless, I rewired it and use an rc controller to steer it, so I can set a course and just go, it works great for planers and stuff and going up river
That’s really cool. I love that.
Great intense battle right there. Like the info on the kayak setup! Good information and great video!
Thanks, I’m glad you found it informative. I love catching striped bass from a kayak. Hard to beat.
Wow. Congratulations! Well done managing the hookup with all that moving water. That’s been a great location for you. Very innovative setup. Love the Smedley sticker as well. 💪🏼👍🏼
Thanks, Mike Smedley has been a big inspiration of mine.
Great Video Michael. Your end screen playlists popped up way early in this one..with like a minute 30 left of the video..
Thanks for letting me know
Nice!
Thanks
Great video. I hate it when you let them go.
Once in a while I’ll keep one
I like the setup, oneday I’ll get me a kayak. Good fish Ouse to fish that bank an it’s a good one
Nice fish
Thanks
@@MichaelKaal-TriFisher when are you gonna post a new vid
I didnt know you were a artist! Thats really cool, great talent....besides big fish fisherman lol
Thanks, I’ve been a photographer for 24 years.
Doing some trolling on Boone and Watauga lake this summer, what are some of your lure recommendations for trout and striper?
I personally like to use large shiners.
Can you make a video on how to set your planer board up with bait
Absolutely
I like those rentals on the river! What's the info on those rentals?
It’s called Stillwater flats. You can contact the owner here. bsangid@outlook.com the website should be going live soon. The property is brand-new
6:02 is when he starts the action
That was a good day
During the clip at the start if the vid I was like "imagine if the fish was pulling the kayak" an then it was moving it went to "wtf it is?!" And then the camera angle switched to you and I went to "oh thank god"
Yeah, it’s not uncommon for big striped bass to pull me around the lake or river.
You may have mentioned this before, but what brand planer boards do you use?
Waterbugz
@@MichaelKaal-TriFisher thank you!
Where do you get your bait? I e heard you mention it before but forgot.
Brummits Live bait and Tackle in Hampton Tn.
Me, with my $5 rod I got (on clearance sale) at a thrift store and $10's worth of hooks and bait: Hmm, I like the layout of the kayak, but chair looks uncomfortable 🤔
Surprisingly, that chair is one of my favourite parts of the kayak. Keeps my back from getting stiff and sore.
@@MichaelKaal-TriFisher haha, awesome!
Great fish can’t wait to see you hook a 50 lb fish up there wish I could send you pics of the 40 plus pound fish I have been catching there you have an ig
Man that’s incredible, I’ve caught a few monsters in the main lake but not in the river system yet.
Those ugly stik tiger lites series are the best rods ever. They are strong, light nice look great, fairly sensitive and inexpensive. Getting hard to find now. I think they stopped making them. I like them better for stripers than some of my $600 loomises, st croixs and Lamiglas rods
