I have been trying for three years to grow my own!!! Three would produce small ones and then die, I think because of the weight pulling on the vine. I needed to see this video as I prepare my growing list. May I ask what did you tie your first strings to? I appreciate this! #LearningGrowingAndLeaning❤

How do you deal with powdery mildew and spider mites?

Organic method:
There is only one solution: crop rotation
Do not plant one type of plant at a time
After planting watermelon, planting another type of plant will avoid the disease
Inorganic method:
You can use biological drugs
or medicine with isolation
Colloidal silver in watering initially will prevent powdery mildew. Before appearance of fruit. Azamax is an organic spray for mites.
@@EYGardeningMay I suggest a non poisonous one that is used here. Get spray bottle (large) add 1 tsp(5ml) of dawn dishwashing liquid, 4tlbs(120ml) of vinegar , and 1 tsp of tlbs of salt, fill bottle with water shake well. Spray plants at least twice weekly for pest control. Do it late evening when sun is down . Make sure bottle is at least 20 ounces.

What kind of dirt did you use for first transfer planting? Looks good fluffy and healthy.
I usually use the formula:
50% Soil
30% Vermicompost
20% Rice Husk + Burnt Rice Husk

You can try, some GMO will grow once. Better to Google and buy heirloom seed .

I thought you were about to show us how you cared for the plants. Other than watering, did you use any plant food, how did you manage insects, fungus, etc?
