Nothing to do with nostalgia honestly. It would be nostalgic to say the first game was the best though, it is very dated and simpler compared to its sequels. For the most part 2 and 3 are closer to on-par with each other.

I'd have to say that Rebel Strike is my 2nd favorite RS game (Right under the original). Counting Battle for Naboo and Lair as RS games (They share the same gameplay, are by Factor 5 and they even have the flying Buick), I'd say that Rogue Leader is my least favorite game in the Rogue Squadron series, as much as I do love it. The movie-based missions are awesome but I feel it focused too much on that and wasn't as original as the others as a result.
They added alot of fun things in this game. Seismic Charges, better cluster missles, Imperial APCs are pretty fun enemies, TIE Hunters were fun to fight and fly, Imperial Escort Carriers are still my favorite cruisers in Star Wars, and the music, it's great no denying it.
The on-foot mission where you also use a speederbike was great, same with Hoth. I expected much more from the on-foot missions, I even expected force powers lol. I still loved Rebel Strike.
Back when people made Star Wars games because they wanted to make Star Wars games, not just a quick cash grab from the IP. This game was so jam packed, not only did it have its own single player, but it had the previous game on disk as a co-op game. What modern day game would even dare do that? Without charging you $29.99 DLC at least.
There were a lot of crappy Star Wars games back then as well just to cash in on the name. Flight of the Falcon, Masters of Teräs Käsi, The Phantom Menace video game and Super Bombad Racing all come to mind. Don't let your nostalgia cloud your vision my friend, although there were a lot of fantastic Star Wars games in the past, we can't be blind to the bad ones either.

Because Nintendo got in touch with Disney recently to make Disney Art Academy for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo can probably team up to create remakes of the classic Rogue Squadron trilogy on the Nintendo 3DS as a video game compilation and create a reboot for the Wii U using Disney's canon of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. And just like "Rebel Strike", add in a local multiplayer feature, and for the first time in the series, add online multiplayer.
Like Disney has $40 billion to drop on Nintendo when its own net worth is $92 billion. Also they have no real interest in buying a video game company when they themselves do not specialize in that field.
I think this game was pretty enjoyable for the time It was so much fun to play all the new missions while also being able to play the levels of rogue leader with your best bud. The battle of Yavin, hoth, and endor make really fun battles to play. The originals all the way.

Those of us who are real veterans of the Galactic Civil War, when it was not cool, feel pride when hearing this theme. The ones who didn't fight until it became cool (after the Disney purchase) are posers.

Playing on-foot or controlling an AT-ST in Rebel Strike was very awkward and often boring compared to flying, but Battlefront does both air and ground combat very well. Anybody see where I'm coming from?

X) It would be cool to have Wedge or Luke in their X Wings as Heroes for Fighter Squadron.And I agree with you about the land vehicles in Rebel Strike, they could have been a bit better and work good in Battlefront. On the bright side, Rogue Squadron has some sort of mention whenever you call for an air vehicle during Walker Assualt and Supremacy etc.

Yeah, but the ship parts were easily on par and even more visually stunning and the bike and walker bits were actually quite good too. The on foot was really badly executed but it for as many as there were I actually thought they were bad in a charming sort of way. They still looked and sounded like Star Wars...I was a kid when I got it though so there is definitely nostalgia bias. I actually especially loved the wedge Geonosis mission. I had always kind of wondered what the prequel words were like during the time of the original trilogy and what happened to the battle droids (III hadn't come out yet) so Wedge going and finding the droids just thrilled me. Plus those jedi star fighter bombs though...
Please remaster this game this one is my shit such as other titles the Simpsons hit and run. And Pokémon Coliseum and smash Bros melee Nintendo or PlayStation bring back these games my freaking childhood
Great game, easily the worst campaign of the trilogy but RS3 overall had an amazing package: Fun bonus missions, all three original arcade titles, plus the entire second games campaign in co-op splitscreen! very easy to overlook the subpar main story when you had everything else to keep you busy. Spent many hours enjoying this game back in the old days. I'll never forget playing Co-op and deathmatch with my dad on the couch.
Rogue Squadron was inside this game as a coop, which I actually like better. This way I can play that with friends (or alone) and also have the Rebel Strike campaign inside this game too. Rebel Strike kicks ass, and so does the game, let's stop wasting time arguing about which is better :)

I don't think Rogue Leader is overrated...generally, at least. Out of the RS games, it is the most overrated, but they're all not that well known anymore (Lair being the exception; it's just frightfully underrated). That and it's not anywhere near as overrated as Ocarina of Time; it's a great game but no game in existence deserves the credit that game gets, not even the original Rogue Squadron (and that's my favorite game).
I memorized this theme when my brother and I were hearing it over and over again with the game set up in our friend’s basement while we were waiting and waiting for our friend to come back down from doing something upstairs on the computer until I finally came up and asked what was going on.

Not a fan of the foot missions. However, the AT-ST missions were a great addition (Guns of Dubrillion was my personal favourite).
