It also only comes with two drives so either two additional drives need to be purchased or if you already own a couple of hobies you could use the existing drives. And out of the four you’d only really need one with reverse. But honestly, this thing turns so sharp with that big oversized rudder, I’m not sure if you even need reverse.
Hello, thanks for the videos. Have you had a chance to do a follow up video on how to rig/accessorize the iTrek 11 yet? I’m really interested in the itrek or lynx but I just can’t get my head around transporting a kayak on the roof of the car. I think the iTrek would work but just want to make sure I’m not undergunned on it. Are 5here any other inflatables that challenge the iTrek in your opinion? Cheers Pete
Hi Peter, I ordered some parts to be able to do the iTrek 11 accessory video and they took forever to come in. So I will hopefully get that one done in the near future. There is nothing that challenges the iTrek 11 other than the other Hobie iTrek series (9, 14, etc). The other brands on the market are clumsy, not stable, and poorly designed. Roof racks are great for transporting the iTrek or the Lynx.
Is there an option that I can use the 180 or even 360 with that inflatable ? So I can buy and choose which model of drive I need? And if no why not? That’s a bit silly if they make it not possible to choose your drive at least separately.
The 360 only works with the pro angler 360. There are special gears actually inside the kayak that connect to the drive. The iTrek 11 can take either the GT drive or the 180 drive. They are interchangeable.

My wife has the same kayak that she intends to use in Baja Mexico. We are trying to figure out an umbrella or shade that is stable in case it gets windy. Do you have any ideas on how to attach an umbrella. The only solution we can see is attaching it to the chair. Please let us know if you have ideas.

I have now used the iTrek 11 with regular and turbo fins and do not see the need for turbos. It is ridiculously fast with the standard fins. There are other Hobie models were the turbos are a nice upgrade.

When I bought mine I traded in my GT drive for the 180. Cost an additional $200. Worth it…

Since it doesn't have the mast receiver like the rotomolded models, it can't take the Hobie Bimini shade, unfortunately. The chair is your own option.

Oh great question. I haven’t raced them side by side. If the water was dead flat, probably the inflatable. But if there’s any chop, probably the Lynx.

Oh man. That’s a hard one. I guess I’d say Lynx. It comes with reverse and could be decked out for fishing a little better…..but it doesn’t roll up!

The 14 is great if you are going to use it both as a tandem and a single. It's still light enough to manage as one person.

Sure. It’s a paddleboard that you sit down in a chair and pedal. Or use a two bladed paddle.
