I like to pull the backing plate off and reseal it as well. It's just a few more bolts but removing the old gasket is so much easier. Torque spec is critical on light duty ford trucks. Glad you mentioned that! Great video

The rear plate also leaks sometimes but this one didn’t need gasket replacing. Assuming your talking engine oil? Outside the trans at the top valve covers or in extreme cases oil lines/ mechanical pump etc.filling up top of engine and leaking back and down.
@@marshallsanders5672 It was actually a diesel leak. I thought it was trans fluid until I got extra eyes on where it was coming from. Yellow billed down knob on filter housing. Supposedly a common leaking point. Thanks for the reply.

Thing is if you can think outside the box , you can probly get by with some wood and or thread all and bolts , I know it worked for me when I rebuilt my E4OD .. the only fancy tool I had was a notch screw driver for snap rings , that's why I watch UA-cam videos I don't have the $ to have some one with the right tools and I live in the woods so gotta figure it out !!
Even folks with money to buy fancy tools still like to learn good tricks, but Nobody likes a Smart Ass. Break down in the woods without them fancy tools and they might be glad to have a few tricks up their sleeve if they’ve been humble enough to learn from a creative person.

I got a question for ya mark I just bought a 2000 f550 that had broken the old trans in half I put another 4r100 in it possibly with the input shaft backwards lol but it won’t shift into third gear I’ve replaced the shift solenoids and filter and fluid and even the wire harness and TCM out of the truck the new trans came out of and it was shifting fine in the other truck am I going to have to reprogram the ecm or what I’ve called all the shops in town pretty much and gotten all sorts of conflicting advice I’d appreciate ur time very much thank you!!!

You should have showed how to put the seal in without the correct $500 seal installation tool. Wasnt very informative!
