The thangalan paraiyar's occupation from the ancient days till the fall of Chola empire around 1300 ACE was primarily guards, with mix of agri and metallurgy. After the chola empire fell, small mysore monarchs tookover the KGF and then vijayanagara empire came to power, the paraiyar community was suppressed altogether hence why they became landless tribal looking. This movie takes place in a time period far after the vijayanagara empire fell, and after british people started to come to India, 1800s.
