Don’t buy a car. Don’t buy a house. Don’t rent an apartment, don’t buy anything shop at the goodwill and eat ramen noodles. Now that’s the American dream.
yes! i was helping a friend with this stuff the other day and i fully admitted like, ive made choices for comfort in recent years and that is why my student loans aren't already gone! i did most of the big changes and yes, living alone or in a nicer, safer place is something i can now afford to do 🙌 then followed up with crazy roommate stories from my early days 🤣
Why do you feel leery? You would earn a lot more on any savings than staying with Chase. I like Capital One Performance accounts, Ally, or Sofi (referral link for a bonus: www.sofi.com/invite/money?gcp=1b8eb8d7-71e0-452f-a2b4-6c6511f73be2&isAliasGcp=false) All of those are actual banks, just not many or any physical branches. But they are banks that are insured and quite large too. They have competitive rates but not the absolute best. If you want higher rates you could use FinTech companies like Wealthfront, but if you are leery of even leaving Chase I wouldn't suggest that for you!
That rule is based on gross income! That can be harder in this current market so some people think it's an outdated rule. And of course, personal finance is personal and circumstances matter so much more. If you have no kids or little monthly expenses then you could spend more than that quite comfortably for example! Also location will make a huge difference and what you spend in a HCOL area will look very different than a LCOL area.

I want to save money to move from Antigua in the Caribbean to Thailand in Asia.
Sound awesome
That's where I am at. I make way less than minimum wage. Increasing my income is really my only solution.
Increasing income will definitely help you!
I’ve never had a car payment which I’m very proud to say lo
I ride e-bikes
I share rent and I still barely keeping my head above water.
Hopefully things change for you soon!
@@PenniesNotPerfection Working on it.
My only vices are used blurays and parts to customize nfl helmets. Yet still single.
Those are vices I haven't heard of before!
I don't eat out. I can't afford to do so. That's a luxury.
It really is these days
I am great at saving money. But I barely make or earn money. So then I have to dip into the fund to pay rent and buy food. 😢😢😢
That’s a rough cycle. Increasing income can help!
😊❤😊
housing 30% of income: are you talking net or gross?
That rule is based on gross income!

you didnt anser my question.
My first sentence literally answered your question. "That rule is based on gross income!"
Gross.
@@PenniesNotPerfection sorry!
All good, just wanted to make sure I was clear!
I have no debts whatsoever. I don't have a house, credit cards, a car, student loans or a mortgage. Just to clarify.
So you’re homeless?
@@jaimiperry9907 Almost homeless.
Is that what you want To be homeless ? I was homeless 3 times and it sucks
@@jaimiperry9907 Of course I don't want to be homeless.
Biggest reason: systemic issues.
For sure this plays a part for some people.
