  • In this educational video we bust myths on how easy some locks are to Bump open compared to other ones which are not.
We look at two different brands of the same gate lock with a thick long square bolt with a cog mechanism to activate it. We look at why one was so easy to Bump open and I did live on a job but did not make a video as a customer did not want this and we compare it through dissection with another Lock of exactly the same type but a different brand to highlight why it is not Bumpable and I'm having issues picking it.
Sn educational video like this is always slightly longer but it shows and highlights where the real issues actually lie and point out things are not always as easy as they seem.
The highlights in this video point held that the cylinder is very easily pickable but it does not engage the cam which seems to be a trend going on better Security Locks out there unfortunately with some locks you're able to use either a key with no teeth or a special tool to engage the cam but in this case it is not the same so I am investigating I will do another video when I have found a solution.

Pick it and push a tension wrench to the back and pick up the cam

yes, I tried that but unfortunately because it is a nipple shaped piece of metal at the end creating a slight gap on the left and the right with the a 0:01 tention Tool fits. I need something as wide as the key as thin as the tension wrench to be able to push it back straight and even and then engage all the different parts. I'm planning to make one I will keep you posted. in other Locks that is just a round gap with a line gap either side, but this has got metal protruding so that it has to be pushed back before a wide tension. Reg will fit in the gap either side of the circular area.
    Thanks for the feedback.

Take an existing key, leaving the tip intact, grind off most of one edge. Now is a tensioner that will push the back...this is done sometimes for rear tensioning locks like the Chubb AVA (you can see LockNoob's video where he demonstrates)
