This means so much! Thank you for your support. I kept getting told that if I swore that I would not get people watching my videos. Decided to do it anyways. And in my opinion I now have a better group of people like you watching my videos :)

    Suggestion for future projects:
Buy the five gallon bucket of drywall mud with the green lid. Yes, it costs twice as much, but it already has most of the water you need already mixed in it. The green lid also has a rubber gasket to help seal the lid. When you rip the lid off for the first time, you will see a clear sheet of plastic (hint - save the plastic). Each time you you are done, scrape the mud off the sides, throw it back in the bottom of the bucket with its friends and put the plastic back on, it will help keep it wet.
Bucket lid opener: Right next to the drywall mud is the drywall tools. Burried within those tools is a five gallon bucket lid opening tool. It's a plastic handle (think captain hook), and it makes opening the green lid drywall buckets ten times easier to open. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on the blue lid Lowes buckets.
When you buy your five gallon bucket of drywall mud, mix well for 5-10 minutes. Adds a small splash of water about one to two cups of water (8-16 oz.) Mix well for another 5 minutes. Your drywall mud will be the perfect consistency for dipping your paint roller in. Use a 1/2" nap or 3/4" nap roller to apply the drywall mud. I personally like 3/4" nap rollers, but they can get kinda heavy when loaded up with drywall mud. I have used 3/8" nap rollers in a pinch, but they don't seem to hold enough mud.
If you need anything, feel free to reach out to me. I have been renovating houses for over 20 years. I would gladly share my knowledge and experience with you to help save you time and money. I'm also starting a UA-cam channel, so any advice you have to share with me on how you film and edit your videos would also be greatly appreciated.
    Keep up the good work!
    P.S.
Embrace using primer before you paint. It is designed to adhere to drywall, drywall mud, and plaster. Kilz blue label 2 gallon buckets sell for about $30 and they are a great value and have excellent adhesion properties for a water based primer. Rinse and save the buckets when you are done, because the two gallon bucket makes a great tool tote. Not to big and doesn't weigh too much when loaded up with tools. You can find tool tote organizers for two gallon buckets on Amazon.
    Bonus tip:
My wife and I wash out our empty drywall buckets, put them through the dishwasher, let them air dry completely, then store 25 pound bag of rice. Yep, a 25 pound bag of rice from Costco fits perfectly in a five gallon bucket. If this creeps you out, go to your local bakery and buy an empty cake icing five gallon bucket off of them and do the same thing. Most Mom and Pop bakeries sell their empty buckets and lids for less than $5. Cake icing buckets are technically food grade, but side by side, they do the same thing as long as you wash them out properly.

I’m so happy for you that you’re starting your own channel too. I can’t wait to see it! I’m still new, but one of the things I was told that was really helpful is when you first post a video, post 5 of them and then do one a week after that if you can. The reason is when you post 5 of them you’re giving the algorithm something to latch onto. It gives you a way bigger push at the very beginning when you need it most. And then you keep the momentum going by posting one a week or so at the exact same time. :) I hope this helps. And thank you for all of your information. You really know what you’re doing!

      @@RoseRenovations Hi Rose & Tim,
That's great advice, save up some content before posting, I will be sure to do that.
On a serious note: This is a no-strings-attached offer. If you need anything, please reach out to me. Sharing my knowledge, experience and advice is $ FREE $. I grew up working on cars, I'm a Steamfitter by trade, and I renovate houses. Also, I have no desire to go to L.A. and my line of work keeps me close to home and busy 7 days a week (as in no vacation or time off).
Do you have a business email for your UA-cam channel? I'm trying to think of a way to effectively communicate while respecting your privacy. I live on the east coast, and my day starts at 3am, so there's the whole time zone / work schedule thing. I do carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, plaster repair, paint, trim, windows, doors, flooring, masonry, and HVAC. If you are planning a project, I can share with you what tools/materials you will need, and what pitfalls to watch out for to save you some money$$$. If you are in the middle of a project and shit happens, I can help you figure out a cost effective solution.
Keep up the good work. The best part about your channel is that it is very real. Polished content is great for tutorials, but that's not reality. Keep doing what you are doing, and your channel will grow beyond your expectations.

No primer before the joint compound? I keep getting mixed advice online. How is yours holding up? I see you have all purpose which has more glue than the lightweight I settled on so that may make a difference. Did you PVA prime it after joint compound before paint?
