Recommending 19-volt power supply on a 12volt radio is being irresponsible. Frankly I think you do not know what you are doing. There is a good chance to blow the radio up.

Adding a 12 volt light bulb in series with (+) will drop final voltage to 12-15 volts depending on bulb 💡

If you like to play your music loud ,than i recomend to do this with old ATX suply, as they have waaaayyyyy more Amps to support your audio system and even power amp and subwofers...
This will too ,but not for a long time...

I'm trying to use a car radio for my kitchen. And using bookshelf speakers, hope I can pull it off without plugging in the speakers and using rca cables running from the speakers to the head unit. Is there an amplifier in the head unit?

Most car radios are DC not AC. I do not recommend using an AC power adapter for a laptop for use on a 12v DC system. If you are looking to do this, i recommend a proper Ac to DC adapter. It may work for a short while but i would not trust it plugged in and left un-attended due to fire risk.

You can turn it on and listen to music but with 2.5A or 3.0A you just can play on min vol to 50% vol only, above that it will start to dead2 or turning off itself because not enough power to play max vol, you better find a power supply or power brick that is 12v 10A to 30A if you want to play max vol👍👍

This will turn the radio on but you can't listen to it very loud! As soon as you turn the radio up a quarter of the way the amperage from the power supply cannot support the amount of amps needed for the radio!

shorting out your power supply won't blow up the outlet it will blow up the power supply and only if you continually short it out. if you just smack the leads together a few times it won't do anything.

why is this even a discussion? I will tell you right now no !! don't bother !! sure you can maybe turn on a deck or amp but its not enuf amps its not enuf as far as wire size and its definitely not a good enuf ground source and have fun with the constant humming humming through the speakers ! I am the true expert period ! you need at least 1 deep cycle rv battery to get decent results preferably a sealed agm deep cycle and if your laptop charger can supply at least 13 volts and 2amps it will probably maintain a charge on the battery but it all depends on what your pushing !I am currently running 4 deep cycles that are connected buy 0 gauge power and grounds to 1 rockford fosgate p600 x4 ,a rf p1000x1 sub amp pushing 1500 watts at 1ohm to a ct sounds 10inch sub that does 1300 watts rms easily it removes things from shelves and walls daily !ok moving on also another rf prime r2 500x4 channel amp all 4 channels are running 2ohms to each channel because im running 2 4ohm speakers on each channel yes this system is completely huge and insane ! moving on again I have another new ct sounds at-200x4 beast of an amp 1300 watts total split into 4 ch at 2ohm there currently is about 30 mid range and tweets mixture of 2ways components and bullet tweeters I have silk dome tweets aluminum dome tweets titanium bullets etc this is all installed into my 25 ft toy hauler trailer because I am completely insane about music and I want it to sound better than concerts or like a recording studio and it does it honestly invokes huge emotional feelings from anyone who listens all speakers are either ct sounds meso ,or rf punch ,and rf power series t1 or t2 s CONNECTed to my Macbook pro with M1 chip out to a fiio external dac I plug a 2.5 mm balanced plug into it that turns into rcas straight into first amp they are then all daisy chained with rca splitting and all of my music is in high res from my qbouz music service anything from cd quality 16 bit and 24 bit 44hz 24bit up to 192 hz it is all connected using audio quest rcas and other high end ofc silver bearing rcas and I use nvx 12g ,8g,and 14g ofc silver tinned speaker wire and yes all of this makes a difference the sound life changing seriously im being real I know it sounds stupid but I am constantly tweeting adjusting adding this or that so ask me anything you want to I build custom systems for about 35 years I guess at this point wow!! so I can share wisdom on anything so use my brain before I die I have your answer no doubt
