A Short Film about a Car Guy

- This is a project I've always wanted to do - my first short film!
It's about how cars make us feel, how they make all the problems of everyday life vanish when we press the loud pedal.
By the way, no. I'm not getting divorced. This was just an idea I got from another video, seemed like an interesting storyline.

I’m such a good camera man 🤣
Got to agree
We need a sequel, man has mid life crisis and buys an Evo!
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I might buy an evo just for him to use in the next one 🤔
Which evo do you want 😂
I can relate to this! Although I've only got a humble Mazda6 and don't drive as quite as enthusiasticly as Mick, I still find that an aimless drive on some good roads with my fave tunes is pretty much the most thereputic activity I can think of!
Driving for 25 years and it's always helped to clear my mind!
I think it's a combination of the adrenaline as well as the concentration required that makes it so effective at forgetting all the shit one may have going on in their life's at the moment.
No think, just drive.
Stay safe!
Nice simple story, and well filmed!
Thank you mate!
the thrill of driving is unlike anything else. Real nice story and well made. Love it bro!
In an unexpected turn of events she got to keep the late aunty Doris' good ol' Honda Jazz!
Only real subscribers will get this
Ironbridge some beautiful roads, one of my favourite places. Car girls love this too 💚🇬🇧.
They are some of the best roads especially around Telford
Absolutely agree!
Very cool video. I love the fact there was no speech just music and storytelling visually. The little shots of you smiling tell the most information; other circumstance aside, you can still have a great experience and enjoy yourself with your car.
Glad you picked up on this! All the ''visual'' storytelling was the reason I wanted to make this video. My videos are usually 75% me explaining things so it was a great exercise to see if I could tell a story without words :)
@@MickDrivesCars and you definitely achieved that. I actually thought for a second as you initially stepped out to go in the car that the text might’ve read ‘but do I keep the car’ or ‘can I keep the car’.
But on the whole, really cool little video to throw in the mix. More cinematic videos like this would be great to watch in future 🙌
I love driving my car in a spirited fashion as well. Loved your smile while driving. Keep it up.
One of the nicest drives I had was when I was driving home from my friend's place at around maybe 10-11:00 p.m.?
I wasn't going to fast for fear of deer, but I was trying to be as spirited as I could. Just me, my car, and the empty road ahead. It was such a beautiful feeling.
What a relief at the end! Nice shot and a very good story to imageine for a car guy. I really like it.
Thanks dude!
Told someone to go for a spirited drive & we laughed it off. Thanks Mick . Nyc one
A Lovely hot hatch and once again, a lovely video. Keep up the good work, Mick!
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
1:25 Finally someone in the car with you! New GF already before the divorce? 😎😁
Why does everyone think my mate is a girl 😂
Ayo I ain’t a girl man 🤣 I’m the cameraman
@@azulao8942 Yo cameraman, good work 👍
@@thegripmaster666 thank you 🙏
I knew exactly what the text chain was going to say lol
Clear story Mick & nice filming 🔥 I'm currently a learner driver (sorry!), but would love to learn more about how to best experience cars. I'd love to hear your journey on learning about cars and any tips you have for a beginner like me. Specifically:
1. How did you initially get into cars and learn about them?
2. What aspects of car knowledge do you suggest tackling first, and in what order? I'm keen on everything from driving safely/ better on regular roads to eventually diving into track driving.
I know it's a super broad question, but would really appreciate your advice.
I actually have a video in the works at the moment along the lines of ''how to be a car guy'', just not 100% sure on exactly what it will be.
As for Q2... I honestly have no idea. If you're a car person you'll just naturally watch videos/read articles about anything and everything. I could tell you what parts to put on an RB26 to make x power WAY before I could drive...
First learn the basic "granny driving" and then slowly go from there. Take your time, and learn to find the good in any car you drive.
@@MidnightGreen4649 That's good advice. As Mick says "Slow is Smooth, and Smooth is Fast!"
@@AlexanderEisen-u9v If you can take your car to an autocross course, you are gonna learn so much about car control and have a blast making friends, too! It actually saddens me that cone dodging isn't mandatory driver's ed in my country. If more people felt a car approaching its limits they'd probably understand the idea behind the saying "a car is a one ton weapon"
Thats so much fun to watch , loved it
Thanks!
Nice video Mick, and a nice Megane 😉 Au
Too good to be divorced finally eh?😂🤣
Less headache 🤣🤣🤣
Great video mick, iron bridge is a cool place 🙂
Love the Megane although it’s not the best of the best hot hatch in terms of performance but man it’s fun car. Similar to the GR Yaris or the FocusRS in that sense. Would love to own one I the future
Yeah, a few things set it apart like the 4 wheel steering, and the fantastic gearbox/column mounted paddles. But yeah a golf R is faster in a drag race.
Great video!🛞
Thanks!
Does it have Apple CarPlay? And does it use all of the screen if so?
Yep and yep
Well... Car is important innit 😂
Bro Got divorced and still got a girl by his side 1:31 LOL..
That's his homeboy
Hey I’m the camera man the fuck 🤣
@@azulao8942 ☠☠Sorry bro
@@Shub_457 😂
He locked you in the car when he got out for a smoke
brilliant
Quit the vapism.
Other than that, good film and good camera work!
haha sorry
Agreed… we need this ethical petrolhead to be around to teach us and not be clogged up with vape smog
That Megane is a keepa'
something like Christopher Nolan, maybe even Tarantino xD
hahaha top production quality :)
I missed seeing this car dang
I’ll message you next time we’re recording 😂
@@azulao8942 I’d love that
Yeah I've done so many videos from the inside but I don't show the outside enough :D
@@MickDrivesCars such a pity for you to hide such a beaut
What roads are these?
Telford/Ironbridge
Pog 😮
does mick reply?
Mick always replies 😂
@@MickDrivesCars Great vid Mick, loved it!
Always
Nah he’s useless 😔
allah y barek
What😂
I'd fight to keep the dog 🤺
Somehow, it's not funny. Thanks for explanation in description, for those not wordlywise in english humor.
I don't think I was going for "funny" to be honest... More like "sad and depressing, with the car being an escape"
amazing video! what camera did you use to film this?
Thank you!
Mix of Panasonic S5 ii and GoPro hero 11. Might be a few insta360 shots too, I forget if we actually used that camera.
@@MickDrivesCars I think we did I can’t remember 😂
"What about the car" as the only reaction after lawyer's message literally killed me :D
PS. I hope the divorce story was just the fiction :)
Happy relationship of 10 years, got her go ahead before this went out! Her idea to change the text from ''she's got the house, money and kids'' to ''dog'' as to be less extreme :D
@@MickDrivesCars Hahaha, I always ask my gf about such things too; whenever I have to write an important email or text, her insight is just golden!
Relatable to every car guy out there
what line of content is this 😂😂
Absolutely no idea 😂
Just always wanted to scratch the "short film" itch
@@MickDrivesCars Short film itch 😃😃👍👍
@@Shub_457 I was hyping it up when he mentioned it tbf 😂
You should get insured on an every day car/normal oldish car and show us all your tips
Go check out my ''slow car, fast pov'' video
It was what it was,,Life👍
I am really not the biggest Renault fan usually and from seeing the car from the inside never been massively wowed. But that is one very good looking car man 👌👌
I've always been the same but this thing is a serious car :)
The Black Mirror cut: guy is so distraught that he purposefully drives off a cliff in his car.
Woahhh we haven’t released that part yet shhhhhh
Waste of a good car and more driving experiences.
What’s the fastest you’ve ever driven on uk roads?
Exactly 70mph officer
@@MickDrivesCars I ain’t no snitch
@@Blackrims23 it’s capped out at 70 officer I don’t know why you would suspect such reckless behaviour
Told someone to go for a spirited drive & we laughed it off. Thanks Mick . Nyc one
Any time
Can you do a video talking about shuffling steering vs hand over hand steering?
Beautiful video Mick! You should do more short films!
Thanks dude! I really enjoyed making this one :)
That's a really long phone😹😹
Haha Sony Xperia, 21:9 Screen - I love it for exactly that reason
Dude i watch your videos and love it! I can say like you said "spirited" videos 🎉
Good that the car was worth having 😀
I wanna do something like this for my channel as well... this one looked great
Trust me do it it was a lot of fun
Dude hit me up on insta, I love chatting to other car youtubers, sharing ideas etc.
@azulao8942 just need to find the time 😭🤣
This is amazingly orchestrated. I'm glad you were able to capture the essence of why we like cars so much.
