I'm also a beginner, however, can you explained to us how to set up Serato for scratching. I have the Pioneer DDJ Sx2 mixer and my scratching doesn't sounds exactly like yours. Thanks for the demonstration.
id have to disagree with you this isn't a great intro to scratching video he did bad job demonstrating the scratches as his timing was way off and didn't even get the chirp right
I did that And it sounded weird, actually thats not a technique, you are doing the chirp scratch reverse the idea is to start with the open crossfader move the record forward close the fader move the record backward open the fader it would sound better
Thank you very much, also may i ask, does it come with the Pioneer. DDJ-SX (what you're using) does the scratch sample come with that deck when you install the software disk that comes with it? That is like my dream deck haha i really want to get it...
It came with my novation twitch actually, but idk if it is available on serato whitelabel. You can just find them from tracks, but it is a good starting point. I would go with the SX either way, unless you have the money for the SZ
Yo, I got the Hercules DJ CONTROL AIR PLUS but how do you get this long AAAAAAHHH sound at the end of the scratch when you release the turntable, because my one doesnt do that
hi i start from yesterday on sb2 but something is wrong i dont have this kshhhh Sound on crossfader are These your samples? i dont how to became this Sound out and i think my deck is too fast for scratch can i be right? or im writing sht right here? it makes me fcking ill i dont know how to activate or produce this wiki wiki wiki kshhhhh wik wiki hshhhhh i hope everybody knows what i mean
+Jozef Vladovic im guessing you use serato. Part of that is the sample that sounds like that. The other part is the linear setting on the crossfader. Change your setting from the power curve to linear and you will be able to do it.
+Jozef Vladovic are you the same fucking guy on the official serato scratch tutorial video with the same wiki wiki wiki kshhhhh wiki wiki kshhhhh problem? LOL
samples to scratch and you use a song to play on the other deck. You want to make scratching sounds while one deck is playing. Once you get good, you can do stuff like beat juggling and other cool shit!
um ItsNeZ is wrong and this video is ok and misleading, you can scratch with anything, it is most common for samples specifically designed for scratching. But you can use any audio/video for scratching. Its all about that sound you want to manipulate to create the desired effect. On a side note if you want to be taken serious make sure you know what you are talking about and be sure to use the right terminology for your equipment. IE you called your controller a turntable when you should of said deck as it is not one. Maybe if you had Numark V7,NS7/II or a Denon Deck. Im not knocking controllers as I have one with rotating platters as I grew up on techs back in the day. I just choose controller as its easier for mobile gigs plus tons of plus's over turntables (there are some negatives)… BUt next time try making a script or plan out what you are going to say and make sure to have another DJ go over it..
crossfader is set all the way to the right and no i dont have any samples...are you able to send me the mp3's if you dont mind :) that might be my problem! Cheers
The scratching sample is the serato scratch sample, that comes with some of the controllers. Here is a link with DL Basic DJ Scratch Samples with MP3 Download Link
nice job. im still confused on how to get that classic scratch sound. do you need a certain song/track? you mentioned a scratch sample. cause when i attempt to scratch with any regular hiphop or dance song it just sounds different and doesnt have that "classic" scratch sound. thanks.
DobbyDuntz yes you do need a delicates track full of classic scratch sound to sound better. One trick I learnt is that when you scratch on normal songs always begin with a bit earlier with the song/sample when there is no sound rather than scratch in between the sound. It’ll sound clear when you do that.
Carlos Miranda you have amazing content Carlos I am really enjoying your videos! You really deserve a bigger following! Hit up topdotmedia when you’re ready to break in the industry!
bro not hating on you but hope you can take this as positive criticism but you should take this video down as you're not doing a good job demonstrating what you are trying to show
when it comes to technology advancements, the 'vinyl' hardcore people never seem to want to progress. Vinyl is great and I respect it, but when given new technology, use it. Do you still drive cars without power steering?
Yo, I got the Hercules DJ CONTROL AIR PLUS but how do you get this long AAAAAAHHH sound at the end of the scratch when you release the turntable, because my one doesnt do that
This guys the best scratch DJ on UA-cam easily on par with scratch Bastid, love to see this guy in the boiler room
Thank you for the kind words, but this video is for the fader settings rather than teach scratching.
I finally found good scratching tutorial!!! Thx you dude! :)
+Kettupaini thanks!
Thank you sir, I really appreciate your info. Never learned to scratch, I like to blend music. Thanks again
Blending is always better!
Great video, I mix Prog and techno house on my DDJ-SX so don't use the platters much. The art of scratching looks fun, might give it a go. Cheers!
You might find a good way by scratching one track and crossfading to the other, to make a turntable effect. Thanks for the view!
I'm also a beginner, however, can you explained to us how to set up Serato for scratching. I have the Pioneer DDJ Sx2 mixer and my scratching doesn't sounds exactly like yours. Thanks for the demonstration.
the first scratch you describe is a reverse chirp (a slice)
Great intro to scratching tutorial for those wanting to learn scratching on a controller!

Good Stuff Bro!!!
How did you get the LED on the Platter to only show the point indicator? mine shows the the entire ring with a break point. i like this option
hold play and shift while it turns on (without it being connected usb), then press one of the drum pads and it changes the wheel illumination.
***** Good look'n out bruh...that is a nice feature, never knew was available. Thanks

Can you do this wit any Dj controller and do you need Serato scratch ?
You can do this with any Controller, as long as you have a "Vinyl" or "Scratch" option on the decks. This DDJ comes with Serato too.
+Idkblah hes absolutely correct.
Thanks for the knowledge
I hope this helps you scratch better!
Very helpful
I hope the settings help you scratch better!
Thank you broth
Nice one
Those settings should help you adjust the fader correctly.
how u get different scratch effects then just the basic like the one u use ?
These are from the serato scratch pack!

Hi i can use any song to scratch or i have to use scratch samples?
samples to scratch and you use a song to play on the other deck. You want to make scratching sounds while one deck is playing. Once you get good, you can do stuff like beat juggling and other cool shit!

Hi, my scratching dosnt sound the same as yours? Could it be because I have an older mac? What OS are you running. Cheers
+Mitchy B you prolly dont have the same samples or your crossfader settings are not correct.
crossfader is set all the way to the right and no i dont have any samples...are you able to send me the mp3's if you dont mind :) that might be my problem! Cheers

Thanks bro
How can I set up the pioneer Ddj sx 2 for scratch
The settings would be identical for that piece of equipment. Crossfader setting on the bottom, and dial in the start/stop timing.
nice job. im still confused on how to get that classic scratch sound. do you need a certain song/track? you mentioned a scratch sample. cause when i attempt to scratch with any regular hiphop or dance song it just sounds different and doesnt have that "classic" scratch sound. thanks.

Hi can you mail me the sample n great video thanks for sharing
Serato scratch pack, look it up online.
u got tips on how to incorporate scratching into edm and house sets?
Try doing that right before drops. That way, the drop takes over after scratching with effects like reverb/echo on the mixer.
@itsnez no it aint nez
ITS NOZ
Post more vids
Coming soon man, just have no time with graduation :(

On second thought no, he has more subscribers than you. I trust him more. Peace aaron
Don't leave me hanging aaron
What's with all these positive comments?, this is terrible, not even on beat.
The video is about the configuration settings rather than the scratching.

Yo, I got the Hercules DJ CONTROL AIR PLUS but how do you get this long AAAAAAHHH sound at the end of the scratch when you release the turntable, because my one doesnt do that
It probably doesn't have crossfader settings, along with start/stop settings dialed in correctly.
where do you take those scratch sample!?
+Matthew Hotte its the serato scratch sentence look it up on google.
