Myers, Your monport k40 link doesn't work. FYI having watch your video and preordered from this video... You should know that your followers are paying a lot more then preorder (preorder + your code = more $$$ then retail) which I got mine last week. I'm having a lot of issue dealing with monport on getting price adjusted to "retail+your order = below $500" price VS preorder+your code = more then retail.
I think the K40s are underrated. A few things to keep in mind: 1) remove the paint from around the ground lug on the back and make sure it’s grounded. I’ve seen footage of the chassis of a K40 floating at around 1,000v. 2) a cheap chiller option is a pc radiator and fans. 3) the “CE” and “FDA” logos are BS. 4) add a mA meter to make sure you don’t overdrive your tube. If you want, I can send you a .svg of a custom control panel I made for my K40 with temperature gauges, extra switches and a mA meter that replaces the original panel.
@@GeorgeZaharia I don't think I have that any more. That was on my PC that died. Plus, it would only really work if you had the same hardware I am using. sorry
10:06 I bought a used K40 and the owner said "You must have an additional ground wire or it will cause all kinds of issues!" The manual says "Electrical Ground Connection: Connect the ground cable to the machine here (if you do not have access to a grounded 3-prong power outlet). So the majority of USA electrical outlets WON'T need this connector!
$100 ice maker is probably the best route for k40. Tilt your machine to get rid of any air pockets in the tube. Think about replacing that crappy exhaust fan. Because it's winter here I'm using an aquarium heater along with aquarium pump and this temperature controller to cycle it. Inkbird-Itc-308-Temperature-Controller. 15° c and have it turned on at 1° drop.
Ive been engraving now for 2 years with a 10w diode and just purchased a CO2 K40+ with every up grade possible upgraded mother board , a rotary a chiller a laser head that extends or contracts 1.2 inches , it has the debris tray and a removable honycomb fixture, built in heavy duty fan and air assist the only thing i need to add is a adjustable work table for up and down which will come and i'm into it for $800 tax and shipping total ! Sure beats the heck out of my 10w diode and i already had LightBurn ta boot !
This is a bit late but I think that the factory reverse connected the x and y outputs. The raster should be moving left to right with just the laser head not trying to move the entire gantry at the higher speed.
That is actually nicer than the K40 I bought about 3 years ago. I had no LCD display, or power distribution on the back or a lid switch. I see this one has a side panel to install a high watt tube. LOL My tube came cracked on arrival. The seller gave me back $100.00 for new tube. First thing I did id remove that work clamp and made a bed with mesh screen so I could put thicker stock in it and cut the fume extraction funnel back to have a larger work bed. I used it for a bit, but it was not long before I found I needed more power and larger work area. I am now using the "Big Red" 60 watt from China I got for about $1700.00 2 years ago.
Monport has a board upgrade to use Lightburn. I thought I read where some of the K40's will work with Lightburn but not all the 'good' features, but I haven't tried it yet.
If the plug has a 3 prong ground - just internally connect that ground pin to the plug - no need to run a second ground line. As far as the pump Id use a larger bucket or the water can't cool

Mine was dropped right to door by DHL I believe when purchased. Might of been another carrier but either way direct to door. It's not that big/heavy so shouldn't be an issue
Even tho Myers made an honest review and had promo/discount code for his viewers. Monport over charge for the price for preorder and when it came into stock, the price was much lower when its instock vs preorder. (I ended up paying $110 more same product vs same week as it come into stock, got my item same week as release just paid $110 more to preorder) wtf
Regarding the chiller lid. Why not cut a small rectangle hole on one side of the lid where the hole goes from the top of the lid and down the side. You can run the pump cord up and over the side of the chiller. And when you put the lid on, there will be an open space around the pump cord. No need to run the cord through a hole.
Thank you for the video but Monport is super shady. At the time of your video the laser was on preorder $650 retail with preorder discount $599.00 2 months ago. Now its the 2nd week when its in stock and the retail price is 540 (first week), 530 (2nd week). They also had a release price of $480 for limited time on this $650 "retail" laser. If trend goes it will be under 500 in a month retail. I end up paying $110 more for preorder then in stock price retail .
@@atetraxx got it resolved however no one would preorder if your going to pay more to preorder and pay more 8% more and wait to get it when their in stock (ie release). its crazy how they drop their "retail" price $80 (8% drop) in less then 2 weeks but good for the consumer.
wow i see on l;eft corner of screen dewalt spent a lot of money just for there name hate to say it powermatic same thing its the name you pay for and not made in the usa anymore tust me i know have powermatic lathe and 20 inch plainer

LOL Monport sends you a laser to try out and you misspell their name in your Tools/Materials list... Priceless! haha

That's exactly what we did. It'll show up in the follow up video.
If you remove that whole exhaust shroud don't you technically gain more working area?
Where is the link to your workaround to get Lightburn to work, please?

Gah that film peel was so satisfying!
Hahah. I left it in just for you!
i have a K40. my biggest gripe is the stock control board. it would have been better if they had used an open source grbl board.
If the plug has a 3 prong ground - just internally connect that ground pin to the plug - no need to run a second ground line. As far as the pump Id use a larger bucket or the water can't cool
How did you get it to work with lightburn? I can't find the link. Thanks!

You can cut just fine with diodes as well, just not clear acrylic
I’ve been searching for a smaller co2 laser and this popped up. It so great but I wish the bed size was larger than A4 size
Looking for the light burn hack mentioned in the video. Don’t see as a link. Will this work with MAC or Windows only?

Thanks guys! Great video - my wife wants to pick one of these up, so just doing some learning and research ahead of the purchase
i don't see any k40 stuff on rowdy roman site.
is it a 32 bit mother board?
Will this cut through 1/4 rubber shore durometer 60?
Should raster faster in X
The K40 Board upgrade for direct to lightburn is a joke if you are running windows 10 on your PC will not work with smoothie software on all windows
Totally love mine on week making keyrings in acrylic and loads using whisper and inscape actually love it
If anyone purchase a k40 does it get delivered to the door. guessing through UPS, FedEx DHL is how they would be delivered
Mine was dropped right to door by DHL I believe when purchased. Might of been another carrier but either way direct to door. It's not that big/heavy so shouldn't be an issue
Mine was delivered right to my front door by FedEx. No signature needed

Hey Bro. I love the K40.
yes, seit 2011 .... 😉🤟
Why use a bucket so small it do not make sens

Your audio is terrible
the best software I've found for the stock board is called Meerk40t
