Here in Finalnd just got this excat same model.Must have been quite popular in nordic countries back in the days. And, this video came handy while opening.Special note for power from 220 -> 240. +Good athmosphere.you got there going on.
Repaired it :) Basically one resistor seemed to have jumped halfway out in the wave soldering process at the factory. Probably worked for a while until it got so loose..
I've fixed things like that before. A couple times I've come across factory errors that make you wonder if the device EVER worked to begin with... Congrats on the repair. :)
Enjoying your restoration videos hans. They don't make them like that any more. I'm in the process in trying to clean the Alps rotary input select switches on my amp.
+bwack The amp nothing special it's a kenwood ka 550 d but I do have b & w speakers a bit like yours. Cleaned the volume with ipa which worked a treat but not so good on the rotary switch so will try using some contact cleaner as you suggested over the weekend
Great stuff =D Amazing the size of some of those old caps - and strange having so many ground connections on them =O I hope you can get the right channel fixed and the AM adjustment. My bet is on a transistor for the right channel!
Thanks m8! I've got a transistor today. Must solder it up first. The AM selector has now come loose (took video of it).. Degreased and regreased.. Hopefully it will last. I think it's the transistor myself. I have adjusted rest-current (?) and midpoint voltage of the power amp output transistors., and on the right channel it is not possible to get the correct values. Could be the transistor driving the output transistor also.
If they return / not latch, you need to clean the button mechanics. The easiest way is to spray them with isopropanol or contact cleaner. It helped with my buttons.
Voltages in the right-channel's power amp section was bad and was impossible to adjust up to spec so I suspect some failed transistors there. I've ordered some output transistors, but it might also be the output transistor driver transistors. lol. Waiting for a transistor tester also :)
Great place to be! A tranquil start of a hardcore tech video ;)
Thanks. I have ordered output power transistors..fault seek will be next. i have read it is a hard nut to crack. i dont know about thar :D

Thanks ! Interesting to know the Tandberg Radio's are found in Finland too :)
Nice restoration, can't wait to see the end result! :)
ordered some transistors. a bit backwards doing that before testing. will open and send a signal in and see where it stops or changes.
Excellent start to a worthy restoration bwack! Good luck with repairing the dead channel. I love old HiFi gear too. :)
Thanks m8 :)

Cool. Maybe it can be fixed with contact spray ? Which amp do you have?

I wish I was as good at electronics as you and GadgetUK164! - Retrogamemodz is also a legend.
Thanks for the compliment :)
Good afternoon friend. I have problems with the buttons when pressing they are returned, it is not pressed. Any way to repair the button?

@@bwack You recommend to open it or clean it from the outside with the spray
Pesky right channel problem. It would be cool to have it restored to its former glory.
