    As former TC owners, you two are going to love the places you can go with this. Being just a few feet longer than your truck alone, we went places that we can no longer go to with our 28' 5th wheel.

    Welcome, fellow northern lite camperers. I too do youtube videos and live fulltime in my NL. We have the same footprint, except mine is designed for a long box. Some things to be weary of: the storage box for the generator will leak, the footprint for the bed is not going to fit a queen(short queen will work fine). Condensation will be a constant issue: make sure to lift up the bed every few days when winter camping in cold weather and let it dry out. Any area that is closed off from heat and borders the outside is prone to creating moisture. Make sure to get some kind of fan on the cab over for air circulation. The windows scratch easier than gypsum.
    These are just some of the things I've found to be a problem so far fulltiming in my NL for the last two years.
    It's still a great camper, and I'm very pleased with it!

  • @randyprince9913

    I'm curious as to how you would compare the driving and the ride in the truck camper as compared to the class A? Alot of people mention sway in a truck camper, but the side to side pitching in a big rv when crossing uneven pavement has to be worse?
    I too am planning on downsizing from a 36ft DP to a truck camper.

    • @HillbillyandZingers
      @HillbillyandZingers  2 роки тому

      The Truck camper for sure has sway, but I think it is what you get used too. I remember the first drive in the Class A and I thought I was going to flip over, but then realized it was all normal and going forward it all felt normal.

    You’ll love the versatility of a go almost anywhere truck camper. I looked at the north lite because they were Canadian built but we ended up with a 2008 Lance 992 because it came with the truck I bought. After experiencing the room with the 2 slide outs I don’t think I’d want a hard side camper. We traded our 992 on a 2022 Lance 1172 and should get delivery sometime this spring. Safe travels. 🇨🇦👍

    I have been eyeing this exact camper. I have a 2022 Platinum F250 Tremor. With the Tremor package and the 7.3 gasser, it is identical to the F350 Tremor. Only difference is the payload sticker. Thinking of adding the 5k airbags and keeping it on the 35’s. I will be over the payload sticker when set for travel, slightly under dry. Probably should have just ordered the 350 to cover myself with the right sticker even though identical but I was not thinking bed camper when I ordered the truck.

    • @HillbillyandZingers
      @HillbillyandZingers  2 роки тому

      It is a magic trick to keep these set ups under payload without a DRW. Good luck, counds like a nice truck you have there.

    In my humble opinion you chose the right brand of camper. We bought a 2017 10-2 special edition. I believe the ceiling height 6'6". I'm not sure what truck you are loading it on except that it is a short box. I'm very surprised you need a platform for it.
    These campers are in my opinion the best you can buy in terms of quality. When you think of the stresses endured by truck campers it must be at times equivalent to multiple earthquakes. To me, the clamshell design with only a single seam provides a solid bond. The same technology as a fiberglass boat.
    Other campers employ the use of aluminum framed wall panels. The aluminum welded joints on these panels have been known to fail. This would be difficult to repair as the panels are insulated with styrofoam.
    The Northern Lite or Bigfoot, can be repaired if damaged and maintain its structural integrity. By a skilled fibreglass technician the repair should be invisible.
    My wife and I found the 10-2 Special Edition to be very comfortable accommodation for our months long coast to coast trip across Canada and back.
    Safe travels, and I will be watching for you on the road.

    I have a 2020 8-11 wet bath with the face to face dinette. I love it! I’m not a full timer but I’ll be interested to see how you guys manage! It’s a real advantage being able to fit in small sites in out of the way places. I haul mine on a 2020 F350 with the 7.3 L gas engine. Plenty of power to spare. I had to put down 1.5 inches of plywood under the factory bed mat to clear the cab antennas. Gook luck and have fun with your new camper. I’ll stay tuned!

    I just saw you guys on Changing Lanes, so I know you are currently "detoured" to a cargo trailer for your summer travels. I hope you get to use the truck camper because I want to see how it works out in real life. We have a 31 foot Airstream that I love, but wonder how well all that living space is going to work out when we go to Alaska in a couple of years. As for the Joolca hot water sink & shower system, check out the Dome Life channel. Cody and Kellie use the Joolca system daily and love it.

    The nice part about these little truck campers (well, one of the nice things) is that with limited storage space, it encourages losing a lot of dead weight items. I don't care about what other people want to do, but I have always found it strange when people go "camping" and take half of their belongings with them. Again, do what you want.

    Just watched the Runaway Roses newest vid. I doubt you will have the same surprise about the weight but you could make a video on the same topic of what your new setup weight with the TC. Gives one reason to pause on a large TC with slideouts.

    • @HillbillyandZingers
      @HillbillyandZingers  2 роки тому

      We are definitely keeping a close eye on the setup and what the truck can handle. Still working out some of the kinks, but we will share once we get the whole thing packed and weighed. Payload was certainly a reason to go with a lighter camper with no slides. The other consideration we had was being able to access everything inside while we were in a parking space without worrying about opening a slide. The space would be nice, but the pros outweighed the cons for us. We will check out the Runaway Roses video - thanks!
