Thank You so much, I wasted 30min or so looking at similar videos which were not was I was looking for and complicated too. this is wonderful I'll used it for teaching sessions
This was exactly what I needed!! I've been watching so many tutorials to find a workaround to the 59 second max time that were ridiculously complicated or ugly. This is just perfect.
I have watched 3 videos and nothing answered my question until I saw and watched your video. Thank you very much for uploading this video. You explained it briefly and clearly.
Oh my god thank you so much! Finally! Edit: I've come back to this just to say thanks again. This really helped me achieve something important to me. It's astounding that there isn't a good timer built into Powerpoint nor a well-made add-on!
I consider myself to be a knowledgeable Powerpoint user. But it never occurred to me to use the animation tools to craft a timer to keep an event on track. The creative possibilities are endless and I am happy to add this to my Powerpoint toolbox.
Just to help anyone else in the future. Instead of dragging the timer to make it longer, you can just right click on the rectangle timer in the animation pane, and click timing. You can manually set any time there by just typing in the time.
Oh My God!!! Thank you VERY MUCH!!!, I was looking how do this a long time ago. I realy appreciate this excelent advise. Easy to do. Clear explanation and demostration. You gain my respect! Thanks...
Thank you for this. I am also asking the same question: How can I apply this to the whole presentation to stick to my allocated time (usually 15 to 20 minutes)?
You wouldn't be able to do it with this method as this is just a single slide animation. Your best approach would either be to use the Rehearse Timings tool and record the slide transitions and animation timings so that your presentation always lasts exactly the right amount of time, or perhaps use VBA to create a macro which updates the elapsed time on the screen. I actually wrote a VB.Net app which displays a small clock in front of all windows on the screen which I use in my lessons for timing tasks, or just seeing what the current time is when a presentation is running full screen and there are no clocks in the room.
Thank you! very straightforward and useful info! I have been failing though to make an adaptation of this to actually keep a progress bar going despite changing slides. Embedding in Master view didn't seem to help. Could you suggest a way to work around this that I might try please? I'm not good at macros but is this approach worthy for my need? Cheers
With coding! You won't be able to do that easily as an animation linked to the progress bar as created here I'm afraid. I do have another video which shows how to create a clock, and might look at doing one that shows how to create a text countdown timer.
They must have removed the option to go beyond 59 sec. It didn't work for me. However, I really liked this tutorial and just added a bar for each minute. Thanks so much!
They definitely haven't removed that ability. I've just double-checked and I am still able to increase the length of my animation to 59 minutes at least. Just drag the right hand end of your animation as far to the right as you can - even going off the edge of the program or screen.
Thank you for demonstrating this. I use 2 different sized ones on a Bell Ringer slide. 3 minutes max after the starting bell you've got to gather classroom supplies. 8 minutes for working the problems. However, I really need a sound to signal the end of the timer. How would that be done?
This sounds good for a single slide but i need a timer for 25 minutes presentation with more number of slides , in this point were should be the timer placed ?for each slide/time may vary for presentation can i be suggested a solution please
Great tutorial! What if a presenter has multiple slides with a specific time allotment for their whole presentation. Do you have a tutorial for that scenario?
Thank you, glad you liked it. Yes, all you need to do is to insert the audio (Insert > Audio) and in the Animations tab have it play after the required amount of time.
Question - I have 10 people talking in a presentation. Some people have 2 slides and some have 3 slides and some people have 4 slides. The timer which I created should reflect in multiple slides. For example - I am part of a presentation and I have 3 slides, and we started the timer on 1st slide should reflect on all the slides I have. It should not start from first if I go to 2nd slide. How to do that.

Brilliantly simple, my husband really struggled with office related programs and you had him complete his timer in minutes! Thank you!

Thanks. Very useful. Much better solution than some of the add-ons that I saw in other videos. This one is neat and effective. Thanks again.

Hello, I have a question. How can we add in percentage for the progress? From 0% to 100% complete? Please reply. Thanks a lot Sir!

thank you.. I found what I need..
Excellent Job!!! thanks
Thank you! You're very welcome!
Do you know how to do this on mac?
thank you for that demonstration. I'd like to know how can i make the slide change after the timer bar is filled?
You'll need to insert a slide transition which includes a delay that's the same as the length of your timer. That would be the easiest option I think.
Hi - I need to do a progress bar with %, for example 10%, 20%, 30%, etc when I click, It's possible? Thanks for share your knowledge with us!
