    Ebony was literally the antithesis of angry or difficult to work with. I always thought she was funny, rolled with the punches and had a great attitude. She was hard on herself but that didn't bleed over into how she interacted with others. Tyra put an "angry black woman" stereotype on her that did not apply.

      I feel like in every episode when Ebony tried to portray her confidence they tried to cut her down. I’m pretty sure she was also the one they denigrated about her makeup skills bc she was previously a makeup artist, but they gave them all cheap color girl palettes and never considered that the color payoff wasn’t going to be the same on her vs one of the white girls. Not fair, since she had to use what they gave her.

      She really had something against black girls, specially the one with darker complexions.
      Something Tyra did, and a lot of people are somehow unaware of, is when she went undercover as a stripper, and not only did she went on full black face, but she also got a prostethic nose to make hers look bigger. Like she was trying to insinuate that only dark skinned women do that, when I think is a job anyone can do.

    I really loved Ebony. She was really likable and entertaining, some pretty popular reaction gifs come from her. She was also the first lesbian on the show, even bringing her girlfriend over to the house. Unfortunately she had to deal with racism and homophobia. At the salon the hairstylists were suppose to simply shave her head, but they did a bad job while making jokes about shaving their names in. Robyn and Shannon both said they considered homosexuality a sin and were rude to Ebony's girlfriend when she visited. Robyn especially showed a lot of homophobia.

    This is why Janice cannot be taken seriously with anything. Or this show. How is saying sir or ma'am "condescending" ??? When you do show respect, they say it's forced or condescending or trying too hard. When you be yourself or have a regular conversation, they think it's cockiness or not showing any respect. It's a no win situation on this show. I liked how the director defended her.

    • @Jess-Rabbit
      @Jess-Rabbit Рік тому +10

      Not to defend Janice because she was 100% in the wrong, but I'm 30 and I loath when people call me ma'am. Unless you're from the south I don't understand why you would do it. I'm clearly not old and I don't find it respectful. In fact, in America people are usually aware that calling someone who isn't over 60 ma'am would probably make them feel bad so I don't understand why people do it. I don't know when the hell I became a ma'am but I don't look or dress old. I think for Robin it makes sense why she says ma'am because its normal for southerners. I live in California where it isn't normal. I don't know how old Janice was at the time this was filmed but I can understand why she wouldn't like to be called ma'am. I get called both ma'am and miss and I just turned 36, and it's been the case since I was 17 lol. I think people get upset because of society's obsession with youth. Traditionally you're a ma'am (madam; ma dame, my lady) when you get married which long ago (and even still now for some) was early 20s. When we get upset it's because social pressure makes women think we are old/useless past a marriageable age, when it's actually intended to be a term of respect. Let's own the word as "my lady" and then feel like Victorian aristocrats 😜

      @@Jess-Rabbit Well I'm 40 and I've never found 'Ma'am' to be upsetting or wrong to use. If you don't know a person's name, it's a good form of addressing someone. Especially since in the 90's & early 2,000's people would flip out if you called them "Miss" or "Mrs" instead of "Ms." So it makes sense to use 'Ma'am' as a fill in. Can I just ask how many of these commercials are actually released from ANTM? I don't recall ever seeing any.

    I'm in the South and as long as it isn't said with attitude, it's purely supposed to be respectful.

    Ebony was older and had 'skin' issues..the director said he had to work longer with her..they were looking for an excuse, not valid, but any. Watch Robin being pageant has a target like all pageant girls and Giselle..you are a dancer, so can't be a model..just ridiculous how T treats and talks to these women.
