It was mostly Joonas as Chewie even in this one. Peter was only Chewie when he was seated or lying down since he was pretty much disabled at the time. Any time Chewie is walking it was Joonas, so sadly that likely wasn't Peter in the first scene with him and Han.
FYI. Ben Solo didn’t find out about Darth Vader being his grandfather until he was older, long after he was being tempted by Snoke, since before he was born. He didn’t hear it from his parents or from Luke. This is all established in some of the books.
The Force Awakens is still my favorite from the new Star Wars movies. Really enjoy it! It does have some flaws no doubt, but it captures the magic of Star Wars so well.

Payday Tolstoj And how exactly did Rian Johnson ruin your childhood? Just because you don’t like the Last Jedi doesn’t mean the originals are any different. The originals are still there for you to enjoy, just like when you were a kid.
One of my favorite scenes is when Kylo says that she needs someone to teach her how to use the force and a look comes over her face that basically says, "Oooooh yea... I can use the force." Then she starts to concentrate.
TFA was a good movie, and a good starting point to kick off a new trilogy. Rewatching it now, it seems much better than I think most of us originally thought.

I think people tend to overlook Rey was abandoned as a child and had to fight most of her life to survive. She learned what she could to be useful and make money. I saw this film 3 times during opening weekend with my dad because he was a huge fan of the OT. For a young fan new to Star Wars and only having been a part of the TCW audience, it was life changing. 2024 and still enjoying Star Wars, this film especially
The questions with rey being able to fight, she did spend her whole life defending herself on jakuu, she has a staff (which is almost like a saber) so she can handle a weapon.
Finn is a trained stormtrooper who has actually fought in melees and has combat training. He got wasted by Kylo Ren. A staff is also a completely different weapon than a sword. There is no reason she wins that fight other than the script writers decided to make it happen. It makes no sense on its face.
@@Tyrantofthewind A staff is not a swort, total different fight style. But, i learnd with hand, legs, elbows to fight, why ray can fight with staff and sword? We know she can figth, why not with both? The reason she wins, was kylo, not rey. He was injured, exhaustet, look at the fight with fin, fin injured him again, kylo lost kontroll over him self, thats why she won. (sry for my bad english, i am more a science guy than languages)
@@Hirnknaker Excuses can be made in any fight. He was not injured to an extent that would effect his fighting significantly as can be seen by him initially pushing Rey back. He had numerous martial advantages that if they did not eclipse his wound, certainly equalized things. There is no reason he should have lost that fight.
@@Tyrantofthewind Kylo is badly injured, emotionally devastated, fighting someone who is already a skilled melee fighter who is now being fueled and guided by the Force, and despite all of this Rey is barely managing to stumble away from him for the entire fight until she dials into the Force...still not enough for you? Okay, how about the fact that Kylo *did not want to kill Rey* The biggest thing (but not the only thing) that gets constantly overlooked in this fight is that one of them is fighting to kill (Rey) and one of them isn't (Kylo). Not only that, but it's clear that from the moment he sees her, Kylo has kind of a twisted fascination with her. It's not even remotely subtle. He's attracted to her both on a creepily sexual, romantic level and also on a spiritual level (it's been a long time since he's seen someone he considered to be equally powerful in the Force and that excites him a lot). It's a fight that's about the characters and the story (a la Original Trilogy), not some surface level prequel-era "the only thing that will determine a victor is our skills with a lightsaber" hollow flashing lights show. That's what makes all of the duels from Eps 1-3 so utterly boring. There's never anything going on in those fights other than fighting. It's like the story has to stop every five minutes so people can perform over-choreographed sword fighting. But in the OT and the ST the fights _are_ the story.
@@ghani666 That is a whole lot of text to say absolutely nothing of value. Kylo Ren should not have lost that fight period. Your garbage on "emotionally devastated" and what not is just that, garbage. Further, pain and anger are both things Sith thrive on, it doesn't make them weaker. Second, in regards to your "PT fights vs ST fights"...Hahahaha! That is fucking hilarious. You have the editor in the ST editing out daggers, stunt men having to wait like15 seconds because Daisy missed her cue, and Kylo Ren choking himself. You must REALLY HATE the ST if you dislike the PT fights. Do you know why? Because they are dull, FAIL to choreograph, and are so horrendous that the editor has to step in and make things magically disappear. The story? Are you fucking joking? How do the fights help the story when the fucking editor of the movie, the stunt men, and the writing is helping Rey? She is protected from up on high by the prince of darkness. What an atrocious position you have.
Vulfiee if you like the world building aspect, you’ll probably enjoy Solo. While not feeling like a traditional Star Wars film (kinda more like Mission Impossible in space), it gives a lot of cool world building, almost like an extended Clone Ware episode.
Bryan Lee Na man that’s such a lazy excuse. Kylo at this point had been training for years under Luke and then snoke and Rey had never once held a lightsaber in her entire life. Wounded or not it makes no sense for her to be able to beat him in a duel. Matter of fact none of the stuff she can do makes any sense. After she was abandoned on jakku by her parents she was stuck on that planet her whole life and had never once left which she said herself yet she knows how to pilot the millennium falcon and even fixed the problem when they were trying to take off again after they met with Han by “bypassing the compressor”? She’s literally perfect at everything just because which is horrible writing. She even did a Jedi mind trick on a stormtrooper and she didn’t even know the force existed before that day lol that’s just dumb.
This was fantastic! So amazing to see positive and constructive ST discussions which have been sorely missing from YT. Cant wait for Rick to react to TLJ. I hope he loves it as much as I do!
I think when people compare Luke and Rey and say she's way too good too soon at fighting, I think they forget that she lived alone and had to fight to survive. She also uses the staff to defend herself so she is already proficient with melee weapons for a believable reason. As far as we know, Luke never fought anyone or had a hard time surviving growing up.
I think Han loved Ben/Kilo so much that he couldn't do anything other than show him affection in his last moments. Regardless of Kilo's choice he's unable to show aggression or contempt and sadly reaches out to his son one last time. He believed Leia when she said there is still good in him. Han gave his life believing that.
Man I was so in the mood to watch the force awaking earlier tonight after searching for it on my tv I was disappointed it wasn’t available then I tried to put on a blind wave video instead and there were no new ones, again disappointed. Now you have given me everything iv ever wanted in one upload! Thank you gentlemen.
One of the main things I didn’t like was how Chewie just ran right by Leah (at the end) like nothing even happened, when I would imagine he be the first to embrace Leah due to Han’s death. Not Rey 😒😒
Thanks, guys. That was so much fun and another reminder of how great this film is. I just watched it again last week myself. One of my favorite movies, ever. So glad to see you guys laughing all the way - that is what this is all about - having fun.
The most impressive factor of this movie was that Harrison Ford went back into character like he never stopped playing him since 1983 release of the Episode VI. In this film, Han Solo death was the same sequence as Episode IV; exception he was Obi-Wan/Han Solo (Father figures killed by Vader/Kylo Ren) and Rey was Luke. He even mentioned a trash compactor same as the Death Star rescue of Leia.
25:01 Rick: "I have a lot of questions about Rey, obviously, which I'm sure will be answered in one way or another." Eric: *looks to the camera for a split second* Me: 😂😂😂😂
Poe was actually meant to die in the crash originally. The idea was that Finn would sort of spiritually take on his persona and his mission. When Oscar was originally offered the role of Poe he was going to die, but by the time he decided to accept the role as basically a cameo, Abrams had worked out a way to keep him alive at the end.
No matter what you’re feeling is about a given movie, what Star Wars fan WANTS someone to dislike a movie, wants someone to not enjoy themselves. I hope he enjoys it but if he doesn’t, well opinions are opinions. Doesn’t matter to me.
Interesting fact: during the destruction of Hosnian Prime scene the alien standing next to the female resistance officer( commander Korr) is the chancellor of the New Republic chancellor Lanever Villecham
The look that Luke gave when Rey handed him the lightsaber has so much meaning. Meaning that was completely thrown away, much like the lightsaber, by Rian Johnson.
When Rey read kylo ren's thoughts knowing that he's not going to be as strong as his grandfather that was the turning point for Rey the kicker where she really realized how strong she is in the force and her calling and I love when the lightsaber went to her
I personally think this movie has my favorite lightsaber fights of them all, not story wise but just the way they feel. They feel like they have actual weight to them, like they’re fighting for their lives, just my opinion tho.
To add to you, they feel desperate. It's the best way I can describe them. Lightsaber fights typically are this very fluid almost dance-like battle where one fight leads to another. But in TFA it felt like they were just scrambling around, doing anything they could to win. It's the difference in taking down a raid boss that your group has taken down forty times and you're going through the motions .. and a fight where everyone but the tank and a single DPS is alive and everyone is yelling to keep fighting and you barely win.
also i love how Kylos light saber arcs like its raw and untamed much like his control of the force. It is a visible representation of his inner turmoil. Also his control or style of force use is very much raw power vs the finesse that luke, kenobi, and yoda and even vader use. Its like watching a young MMA fighter or boxer who is at peak physical condition vs a seasoned vet who relies on technique over raw strength. To me this explains Kylos character. That he wants to be a force master and follow in Vaders footsteps but he lacks the control and proper training to do so because his training was cut short and snoke will not train him past his own abilities..
30:15 Just want to point out that Luke had his uncle and aunt to take care of him his whole life. Hence him being a bit useless at the beginning. Rey was an orphan who had to fence for herself since she was a 6 year old. She had years training and pulling from the force even if she didn't know what it was.
17:56 Injuries are not much an issue for a Sith. They draw power from pain and anger. That's why he's punching his wound, More Pain, more Anger. MORE POWER.
It's understandable. The Force Awakens feels more consistent to me throughout. Hopefully The Rise of Skywalker brings some more good stuff to the table; considering it's JJ directing again i have faith it'll at least be as good as Force Awakens
Admittedly, "The Last Jedi" has the best Lightsaber Duel in the trilogy and I wouldn't change Kylo Ren as the new Supreme Leader. Also, I hate that everyone knocks down Kelly Marie Tran. I love Rose Tico!
@@dj__projects Rose was very endearing for sure. She gets so much more hate than is warranted. But that is not shown to us in the movie which is what matters. To paraphrase Jackie Chan what matters is what happens in the movie, you aren't going to go to ever viewers home and tell them new stuff of the story, it has to be in it when they watch it.
@@In-The-Zone I totally agree that they can not just add things after (too easy) , but he does talk about it ( at least 2 times ) in the original movie so it's not just an added stuff. However no movie has ever show everything it's not possible.
@@Bad97128 yeah in the case of him being a good pilot he talks to Han about it a little and towards the end in the meeting indirectly from what I remember, but how he become one I dont remember ever being in the movie(not that its needed in that case, its just my larger point).
Idc how many rats he shot in the canyon. He is flying in space for the first time, in a space battle against all odds against veteran fighter pilots. He hardly even knows what the force is and he hits a 1 in a million shot to save the entire galaxy In the heat of battle by using the force he just learned about. None of this bothers me, but when I hear people knocking Rey but not also Luke it makes no sense. Many fans have seen Star Wars, the ot , 100s of times and saw it for the first time as kids. They wear nostalgia goggles and hold these new characters to different standard. So Luke flew the t16 and trained, okay cool. Well Rey worked on the falcon a lot for unkarr. So she knows about the alterations made. She had also flown other ships just not off planet like Luke also had done. We also know her main hobby at home was messing around learning about ships and flying on a y wing cpu she had found. She gets her name for a pilots helmet. She crawls around in ships all day. Taking them apart. So basically she has been messing with ships and learning about flying her entire life and has also flown ships just not in space just like Luke. What the hell is the difference and justification for Luke if there is not that same justification for Rey.
I was waiting for this. It is really great to watch movie with you guys. And i can't believe that this hit me so nostalgic... Hans death still gets me... 😢😭
People who complain that Rey beat Kylo honestly bug the shit out of me. Kylo was clearly injured by a fucking bow caster and pounds his side the entire fight, so he’s not at his best and the film shows Rey knows how to fight with a melee weapon.
As things stand right now, I have my issues with the sequel movies in the context of the Skywalker saga specifically. But man was I swimming in joy along with them
DanyyelTR I really enjoy both TFA and TLJ but so far as a trilogy I think it’s quite awful. I think they’re fun to watch but story wise it does feel out of place at times
Man if only they had let JJ do his thing for the entire trilogy... I rewatched this movie after seeing TLJ and ROS and I had more fun with this one. It just feels like Star Wars more than the others
If JJ would have written the entire trilogy it would have at least been coherent. TLJ basically removed so many plot threads from TFA, then ROS was some type of apology for TFA but overall wasn’t a satisfying ending to the trilogy At least with TFA we can imagine a better story to take place after 😂
While this isn't my favourite star wars movie it definitely did a great job at reintroducing star wars to the public consciousness and got me excited for more.

I honestly like The Force Awakens.
I know people complain, but I’ve come to accept and like the sequel trilogy for what it is now.
If we learn something from the Prequels is that no matter what, Star Wars always find an audience bold enough to approve. I like Last Jedi better, please no judge...
well, people who like to make a mess are either children or infants.
Payday Tolstoj And how exactly did Rian Johnson ruin your childhood? Just because you don’t like the Last Jedi doesn’t mean the originals are any different. The originals are still there for you to enjoy, just like when you were a kid.
Like most people I also liked TFA. Which is why it hurts more when you see what TLJ did to it.
I thought people loved TFA, I know I did.
man eric and shane's faces said everything. it doesnt matter how many times you watched this movie. when han solo dies its impossible not to cry
One of my favorite scenes is when Kylo says that she needs someone to teach her how to use the force and a look comes over her face that basically says, "Oooooh yea... I can use the force." Then she starts to concentrate.
Was glad to see Rick enjoy the movie. I've always thought of him as the most critical of the blind wave crew so i was afraid he would tear it apart
TFA was a good movie, and a good starting point to kick off a new trilogy. Rewatching it now, it seems much better than I think most of us originally thought.
Absolutely agree, it was a great canvas to start the trilogy with.
Yeah well now that we got the rest of that god forsaken trilogy I really appreciate how good force awakens was, it's the best one in the trilogy for me

Yeah I’ve been watching these more recently. Their discussions are so refreshing.
At a point i watched so many videos picking this movie apart that i started to believe i didn't like it as much, so i watched it again.
I still love it.
I think people tend to overlook Rey was abandoned as a child and had to fight most of her life to survive. She learned what she could to be useful and make money. If she wasn’t tough she would’ve been dead long before.
Also she is a quick learner and has heard the history so she was aware of the force. It’s seems fast how she knew everything but when it’s fight or die then you do what you gotta do.
"I bypassed the compressor" to this day I think that's a very weird way of saying "I ripped it out".
Ripped it out is the mundane, earthly way to say it. Bypassing it is much more spacey and fun.

I live about 20 miles away from where those last scenes were shot in the North of Ireland. It looks so familiar but newly exotic at the same time in these films.

I like how the plot is similar to the first. It is a familiar story but we get to see how our new characters react to the same situation as our old.
great idea saving rick's reactions for this. feels great reliving this through new eyes.
A surprise but a welcome one!

I see the impact that TFA had on my life in 2015 the same effect how the orignal Star Wars had on people in 1977. Hopeful to see what the future holds and the great adventures we will see.
Okay, how about the fact that Kylo *did not want to kill Rey*
The biggest thing (but not the only thing) that gets constantly overlooked in this fight is that one of them is fighting to kill (Rey) and one of them isn't (Kylo).
I love all the Star Wars movies, expect solo because I didn’t see it, just because I love the world it builds and the people in it.
Vulfiee if you like the world building aspect, you’ll probably enjoy Solo. While not feeling like a traditional Star Wars film (kinda more like Mission Impossible in space), it gives a lot of cool world building, almost like an extended Clone Ware episode.

@@eolsunder a skilled swordsman who just murdered his dad and was gutshot, so he was off his game
@@bryanlee7989 isnt pain supposed to make dark siders stronger? Why does everyone go with the same excuse?
Watching you guys enjoy this movie is like hanging out with close brothers. Keep up the good work !
Loved The Force Awakens. It's my favorite Star Wars movie outside the original trilogy.
Exactly. But I don't think people "forget", they just want a reason to hate her...
Never realized Rey was taking from Kylo while Kylo was taking from Rey, makes how she does all her later force feats a lot more plausible.

Alpaka Whacker Palpatine in Ep9: I AM THE SENATE!

Seeing their fight now, it all makes sense.
The battle between fin and kylo gives me chills everytime don't get why people hate this movie it's a blast

Because the Force Awakens Built up Expectations.

I'm not even all that fussed on Star Wars but I enjoy watching you guys watching Star Wars stuff because you love it so much it's great!
I love this movie so much, a fantastic addition to the Skywalker Saga. I am happy Rick liked it!
Kylo's lightsaber in particular sounds awesome in the snow fight.
Eric: "the senates back Rick"
First Order: hold my starkiller

Injuries are not much an issue for a Sith. They draw power from pain and anger. That's why he's punching his wound, More Pain, more Anger. MORE POWER.
I'm not cracking on "The Last Jedi" but all I want to say is that "The Force Awakens" is by far the best Sequel Trilogy film.
It's understandable. The Force Awakens feels more consistent to me throughout. Hopefully The Rise of Skywalker brings some more good stuff to the table; considering it's JJ directing again i have faith it'll at least be as good as Force Awakens
Can't agree. The more I think about TFA the more I feel it's all flash and very little substance. The more I think I about TLJ the more I love it
Admittedly, "The Last Jedi" has the best Lightsaber Duel in the trilogy and I wouldn't change Kylo Ren as the new Supreme Leader. Also, I hate that everyone knocks down Kelly Marie Tran. I love Rose Tico!
@@dj__projects Rose was very endearing for sure. She gets so much more hate than is warranted. Fantastic review & discussion. I’m about to undergo my own Star Wars rewatch in preparation for Rise of Skywalker!
30:10 Luke was already training for joined the Imperial Academy.
just look "A new hope" and luke says it himself he was already a good pilot and trained to hit small target with is T-16
Skywalker became an adventure-seeking youth, piloting his Incom T-16 Skyhopper through Beggar's Canyon and racing his landspeeder with little regard for his own safety.

TLJ basically removed so many plot threads from TFA, then ROS was some type of apology for TFA but overall wasn’t a satisfying ending to the trilogy
At least with TFA we can imagine a better story to take place after 😂
While this isn't my favourite star wars movie it definitely did a great job at reintroducing star wars to the public consciousness and got me excited for more.
I love you guys giving rick the "eyes" every time something happened and he didn't audibly react lol
