I’m so happy that people like this exist. I didn’t come across this video by looking up how to do reverse tie dye (as I have looked it up many times before) I actually follow the instagram for selling these pieces. I sent a DM just asking a question about bleach, not even expecting a reply. But to get a message back within 5 minutes and with a link to show other how to do it themselves instead of a”link to shop” was very refreshing. Thank you soooooooooo much!!!
wow . wow. i have been watching tie dye ideos and trying to tie dye for 5 years. Dude! this is the BEST i mean the absolute BEST instructional video i have EVER watched! Thank you for being so generous enough to share this tecnique. AWESOME
one of the best tutorial I've seen! I deeply appreciate all the small details you included, esp. about rinsing until water runs clear + also washing with Dawn to prevent color transference. 👍
You give the best instructions ever! You give the dos and don’ts all together and the transcriptions over the video are perfect! God you’re a great artist and teacher! I always feel like I’m missing SOMETHING in a tutorial but can’t wait to try this
Thank you! I don't always need to reverse tie dye but you guys have all the steps and I can skip if I want or go thru them all. I really appreciate you guys sharing the process. All mine and my roommate's stuff turned out great! Much love!!
Why haven’t you blown up yet!! Your tutorials are amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. My Christmas presents are definitely gonna be the best this year. 🙏🏽❤️
I learned my reverse tie dye watching this video and recently I have been experimenting with it on different color shirts. I've done a red and blue one so far and if you never thought to try this, I would recommend you do. They came out super cool. Another good tip for anyone wanting to try :Make sure to get 100% cotton shirts as poly blends dont work as well. Guess I cant put pics here. trust me you wont be disappointed
I'm brand new to dyeing fabrics & haven't ever done reverse dye but for the question why peroxide, Chemically, the basic solution (peroxide) with a high pH neutralizes the acidic solution (bleach) with a low pH to form a NaCl (salt), water & oxygen gas.
Dude, what a cool process and they came out awesome!! Can't wait to give this process a try. I almost threw my refrigerator rack out by mistake, lol. That's my jam too, lol. You did a great job with the video, straight and to the point:)
Axing tutorial! I’ve been wanting to do my band shirts but a lot of other videos were not as descriptive or clean and this one. Thanks for the steps and instructions, will for sure be following along and doing my own!
Awesome video, I have been doing reverse tie dye and you have some nice points in upping my game. For one, you blew my mind that soda ash is so easy to get! At walmert and Lowe's?!?! Second the hydrogen peroxide to neutralize the bleach! I have been unspiraling them, rinsing them out under water, soaking in the soda ash, re-spiraling, then adding the dye! I'll have to give your method a try! One last thing, your spiraling technique, that's pretty sweet. Thanks for the video.
I’m a bit confused as to which is which. I want to do the one on the right but at one point i got confused. Is the effect on the right the “full bleach” only on top of the shirt?
Es el mejor tutorial que he visto, brother con "Soda ash" te refieres al bicarbonato regular? Gracias de antegarra. PD a la otra quítale los pelos del Blue.
Thank you! This was really helpful and not distracting. (lots of how to vids have the creator rambling and it's had to focus, especially with ADHD) this was simple with text and visuals. I'm gonna tackle some old black shirts tonight :) and was amazed to find that version of soda ash at the local store- and its dirt cheap!
Amazing talent and tutorial, man! I'm a first-timer looking to use your method to just do one or two shirts at a time, and I was hoping you could answer a question. If I purchase 50mL (1.7oz) bottles, do you think they would hold enough dye to do 2 shirts this way? Or should I be buying bigger for a small project like this? I saw in the comments below that you use 4oz (120mL) bottles, but I can't tell how full they are or how much you used here. Thanks so much!
The size of the bottles don’t matter really, you might just have to refill depending how much dye you would like to use. I find that I use the whole 4 oz for one shirt usually
to get a even brighter dye u can try putting ur dyes in a gallon bag thats what i do usually and it works really well for me plus makes it easier to do multiple dyes in a day and have places to put the dyes
Those look so good! Thanks for the video! I'm jealous, I did one in the summer and I guess I bleached it too long because it's already disintegrated from washing.
I have learned something today by watching this I'm trying to start a business in this. I just started dying two weeks ago. I have been shy to do other colors other then White. I'm excited to do this and what is the pointy thing on the dye bottle it is truly helpful I see I need that
Great video! Question for you, if I’m just reverse tie dying, but not adding color afterwards, do I still need to do the hydrogen peroxide and ash soda steps? I haven’t given tie dying a whirl since I was at camp 35 years ago!
Hey, sorry for the late reply! If you’re not adding color you don’t have to soda ash but you will still have to neutralize the bleach with hydrogen peroxide
when you left the shirts out to dry, did you leave them out like that or did you put them in bags? i've seen people put them in bags for them to dry and i wanna know if there's a difference; i just want a clean dye like yours lol
I left them in the shade. I’d recommend putting them in bags and let them stay inside. You want them to stay wet, I didn’t know that before making this video
literally the best tutorial i've ever seen! thanks so much. one question though, how did you make your dyes? (measurements & did you mix in urea with the powder dye?) thanks in advance
It’s interesting that the instructions on the Jacquard brand synthrapol says to use hot water for the afterwash (for cotton shirts). Any opinion on that? Awesome video, thanks!
By FAR, this is the most descriptive, perfectly paced, badass tie-dye tutorial I’ve ever seen. These turned out incredible. I love your sweet mom!♥️
this is the cleanest shit ive ever seen
@Immanuel Royce nope, nobody gives a shit about your botted youtube account scam.

Awesome! Quick question, how did you mixed the dye? That's the part I am at.... did you mixed the dye with warm or hot water?
The hemostats and microwave cover is an insanely great idea!!!
