All I know is I traded in my Xbox one s for the x and the difference is unreal. I got a Samsung q6 tv last year then got the Xbox one x and played resident evil 2 again. The difference was unbelievable. Resident evil 2 looks spectacular on a 4K tv with the Xbox one x. The difference probably more noticeable since the xbox one s is so damn weak even compared to the ls4 slim. I think you can get Xbox one x for 299 now. That’s an amazing deal for what you get.
It’s 2024, almost all good sony exclusives are playable on ps4, Starfield was trash (I bought a series x specifically for that) and here I am, $1000 in and still only slightly better than you.

Yep. Even some of the unboxing vids by ppl MS gave X's to (but didn't really deserve them) were thinly veiled hit pieces. Sony hit a home run with the ps4, but the X hits the ball out of the park completely. Now we just need to wait for the patches to come out (and they're coming at a pretty fast clip with 7 new ones downloading as I speak).

I'm impressed with the technology in One X. It really is a powerful machine. The Games Library on the other hand needs an improvement. Edit : Those stating that the games library is not in need of improvement... don't be a fanboy for once. We need to face the truth that when it comes to the library of games, Xbox is lacking as opposed to competitors. They need exclusives so that there's competition. This part is very important. Competition is GOOD for all consumers. Remember that.
Yep. I am currently a PC gamer but were I in the market for a new console (presently I only have a Switch) I wouldn't hesitate to buy a PS4... it's all about those exclusives and on this front Sony have Microsoft's number (not a fanboy I promise)

I have a PC that is running 2 1080 TI's and an i7 7700K. There is nothing that the Xbox One X can do that my PC can't do better, considering 99% of Xbox games are available to PC gamers. If I didn't have a gaming rig the XBox would appeal to me but as it is I cannot justify buying one. The only one who sounds like a blind fanboy here is you.
Honestly, this review was easily the best I’ve seen. Littered with actual information like performance and power consumption as well as a personal spin on an overall opinion. The Polygon/IGN etc reviews are comparatively terrible, just people rambling about if things look prettier and why it sucks because it doesn’t do their washing up.
If this console has made you upset in anyway, free advice, please reevaluate your priorities in life. There are greater problems that require your worry.
Xbox one X is the black sheep of the Xbox family. The hero no one wanted but the hero Microsoft needed. . I would love to see a new video on it! "How last gen is last gen?" Comparing it to the series X or something.. You guys make fantastic content that makes me enjoy tech even more!
I brought an Xbox One X back in 2017 with a separate 4TB hardrive. It’s a very great console and games looks really good on a 4K TV. On top of that, I brought an Xbox Elite V2 controller last year (2019). 😁
do you play games at 4k? thats when it gets loud watchdogs 2 and horizion zero dawn were pretty bad for me i had to wear my head phones while playing them
I have a Pro and a One X. The Pro with boost mode on (and mine stands up and always blown out with air) sounds like a jet. I had to confirm my One X fan was actually on...that's how quiet it is.
Not many people realize this. GTAV alone sold 70 million copies, give me one Xbox/PlayStation exclusive game that sold that much ? The new Zelda game which everybody is talking about, sold just over 5 million, imagine if it was available on Xbox/PS4/PC, it would sell 2-3 times more. Exclusivity sucks. Games is where money is being made, not hardware.
AntonioR Software I own a 360 and a Ps3 ..not a single exclusive between them. When I do finely get a 8th gen, exclusives are not the driving force my TV is. My consoles don't do my TV justice.
But, exclusives sell hardware. Few who went out and bought the base PS4 because it was the most powerful when it came out are going to go and buy Xbox One X; they already have a machine that plays those games. FPS, 4K...to most people, none of that matters more than exclusives. Disagree? Switch and Zelda would like to have a word with you.

Unfortunately mainstream media dismisses this as being too expensive yet when you consider the hardware - not just the powerful GPU,12 GB GDDR5 memory and bespoke cooling solution but also the 4K HDR Blu-Ray player, alongside other things like the controller, warranty, integrated PSU, CPU etc. and the extremely small form factor and you've got a machine that showcases why consoles exist: insane value for money that even the best PC builders couldn't come close to for price to performance, along with the convenience and ease of use. Oh and did I mention backwards compatibility? I mean, in the UK at least the standard Xbox One on launch (with Kinect) was £450. This thing is selling for £1 less WITH A GAME in some cases. Let that sink in for a minute. Pricing isn't the problem, people's expectations are.

I remember the good old days when multiplats would look entirely different dependant on hardware, with mashed textures, missing lighting and technical effects, or almost unrecognisable geometry. These days we need to zoom in on indiscriminate backgrounds details and jump back and forth between shots to understand where all the additional computing power goes. Just goes to show being the most powerful now means very little, at last resting all the importance on the games...... I'd still take PC and a switch over PS4 + XBOX.
Yeah, even when I watch the videos in high resolution and actually understand the technical stuff he is talking about, most of the time I barely see any difference. Go back to PS2/Xbox days and games like Splinter Cell would be completely different.
Witchard hand movements are more subtle and less distracting in this video than usual, it felt more natural! I guess XBOneX does deliver enhancements in so many layers lol! Good review btw!

It's hard to get that excited about a console for the 'hardcore' that will only hold around seven to ten major games before the hard drive is full. Delete/install juggling hell if you're going disc based and even worse if you want to go mainly digital with those 80-100 plus gb file sizes.
I bought a lot of tech after watching DF reviews: a Pentium G4560, a GTX 1050ti, a GTX 1060 3GB, a HDR10 4K TV, an Xbox One X, a PS4 Slim, not to mention all the must have games to play on these consoles.

PS4 has exclusives and Japanese games, Switch has Nintendo games and is kind of portable, PC does everything the Xbox does better plus you need one anyway.

AWESOME! ... It is incredible the way the Xbox One X makes such HUGE improvements in both Xbox One games AND Xbox 360 games! ... When I saw that completely new textures were used to showcase the games and the higher resolution in 4K and 1080p resolutions, I was stunned!!! Xbox One X is AWESOME!
Sony did a terrible job this gen with removing heat. Probably because of the 360 red ring disaster Microsoft really went all out with their heat sinks.

CaptainT $500 can be a lot or a little depending on what product you’re talking about. In terms of the Xbox one x, I’d say $500 is reasonable considering what a PC with equivalent specs would cost. On the other hand, you could argue that charging $500 for a console that can actually properly run all its games is unethical when it’s what we should have had in the first place
people bought the pro most because of good exclusives. xbox have zero. a windows 10 gaming pc and ps4 pro = best of both worlds. you can play pretty much everything. even zelda botw using cemu. all xbox games are on the microsoft store on windows 10 (most of them are pure garbage tho)
Never buy new technology at full price, if you can wait one year then it will be worth the wait. It is without a doubt that it will get a price cut by this time next year, also the game library for the OneX will be much richer than it is right now. Once e3 rolls around we will see what this machine can deliver to us, but at this point I'm just meh " needs more flavor chef, more flavor"
X1X is great news for the Pro, it means more multiplatform dev teams will be focussed on the performance these boxes offer and games will be the better for both console types.
How to be a Sony Fanboy: 1- PS4 is sacred. is the best of the world, it has no flaws or issues. Anyone who states any PS4 lacking department or issues is a corporate slave paid by microsoft. 2- Excusives are everything and are the only games worth to play and the only reason to buy a console. 3- More quantity of Exclusives means better console. 4- Any game is superb as long as it is PS4 exclusive. 5- If an excellent exclusive game is later released on other consoles, is not good anymore. 6- If a game is multiplattform, is non-existent and not worth to play. 7- A true PS4 gamer only plays PS4 exclusives. 8- Backwards compatibility is a shit no one wants to play. But buying PS2/PS3 ports/remasters all over again is awesome. 9- Xbox has no games. all of them are on PC, therefore, they are automatically erased from Xbox. 10 - Better sales means you'll enjoy more your gaming. PS4 is the most enjoyable gaming experience because is selling better. 11 - If everything else fails, just pretend to be a PC gamer that can build a 300$ dual-core PC that is even more powerful than Xbox one X.

When it comes to video games that comes to opinion, some like CoD some like Viva Piñata. Yes it struggles with 4k 60fps which PC doesn’t struggle with that goal under 500 dollar price UHD Blu-ray included.

I get mine tomorrow, but so disappointed there's no music visualiser! I still use my 360 every week just for that purpose when playing CDs, but it would certainly be nice to see in 4K HDR. But they did mention: you get higher quality textures in enhanced games, games with unlocked framerates run at higher framerates, those with locked framerates run more stable, games with dynamic resolution scaling run at higher resolutions, you get vsync, high quality anisotropic filtering, faster loading times...
Well I upgraded to 4k a year and a half ago. The only screen still 1080p is the one i use to play OG consoles just because I don’t own a tube TV anymore. 60% of the population have at least one 4k screen at home.
As a multi-platform gamer, I pre-ordered one of the P. Scorpio edition for my living room gaming. I'm waiting for Nvidia Volta and HDR capable monitors before I upgrade my PC.
You don't get it. Sony and Microsoft messed up their priorities. I don't want to play videogames that look pretty but perform horrible. Most Xbox One games that are optimized for X are just boosted in resolution and they still try to stick to their TARGET framerate. Meaning that a 30fps game is still gonna run at 30 on the X no matter how "next level" the GPU is. Have you seen how Just Cause 3 performs? Hitman? FPS still dips down quite a bit because they upgraded the CPU only by a little. If they didn't quadruple the GPU power and saved some cash for the CPU, then maybe we would've had a 1080p capable console that's more likely to hit 60fps. We don't want that. We want our games, in 60 frames per second and in 1080p. (4k if that's possible, but it's not a requirement).
The framerate will stay the same or decrease. Games will only get more demanding from here on out. The OP is right. They should have aimed for framerate over resolution. At a distance, especially when it's not native 4K like many titles, you'll barely notice the difference.

I'm impressed with the technology in One X. It really is a powerful machine. The Games Library on the other hand needs an improvement.
Edit : Those stating that the games library is not in need of improvement... don't be a fanboy for once. We need to face the truth that when it comes to the library of games, Xbox is lacking as opposed to competitors. They need exclusives so that there's competition. This part is very important. Competition is GOOD for all consumers. Remember that.
Yep. I am currently a PC gamer but were I in the market for a new console (presently I only have a Switch) I wouldn't hesitate to buy a PS4... it's all about those exclusives and on this front Sony have Microsoft's number (not a fanboy I promise)

I have a PC that is running 2 1080 TI's and an i7 7700K. There is nothing that the Xbox One X can do that my PC can't do better, considering 99% of Xbox games are available to PC gamers. If I didn't have a gaming rig the XBox would appeal to me but as it is I cannot justify buying one. The only one who sounds like a blind fanboy here is you.
Honestly, this review was easily the best I’ve seen. Littered with actual information like performance and power consumption as well as a personal spin on an overall opinion. The Polygon/IGN etc reviews are comparatively terrible, just people rambling about if things look prettier and why it sucks because it doesn’t do their washing up.

I have a Pro and a One X. The Pro with boost mode on (and mine stands up and always blown out with air) sounds like a jet. I had to confirm my One X fan was actually on...that's how quiet it is.

Not many people realize this. GTAV alone sold 70 million copies, give me one Xbox/PlayStation exclusive game that sold that much ? The new Zelda game which everybody is talking about, sold just over 5 million, imagine if it was available on Xbox/PS4/PC, it would sell 2-3 times more. Exclusivity sucks. Games is where money is being made, not hardware.

Unfortunately mainstream media dismisses this as being too expensive yet when you consider the hardware - not just the powerful GPU,12 GB GDDR5 memory and bespoke cooling solution but also the 4K HDR Blu-Ray player, alongside other things like the controller, warranty, integrated PSU, CPU etc. and the extremely small form factor and you've got a machine that showcases why consoles exist: insane value for money that even the best PC builders couldn't come close to for price to performance, along with the convenience and ease of use. Oh and did I mention backwards compatibility?
I mean, in the UK at least the standard Xbox One on launch (with Kinect) was £450. This thing is selling for £1 less WITH A GAME in some cases. Let that sink in for a minute. Pricing isn't the problem, people's expectations are.

I remember the good old days when multiplats would look entirely different dependant on hardware, with mashed textures, missing lighting and technical effects, or almost unrecognisable geometry. These days we need to zoom in on indiscriminate backgrounds details and jump back and forth between shots to understand where all the additional computing power goes. Just goes to show being the most powerful now means very little, at last resting all the importance on the games...... I'd still take PC and a switch over PS4 + XBOX.
Yeah, even when I watch the videos in high resolution and actually understand the technical stuff he is talking about, most of the time I barely see any difference. Go back to PS2/Xbox days and games like Splinter Cell would be completely different.

It's hard to get that excited about a console for the 'hardcore' that will only hold around seven to ten major games before the hard drive is full. Delete/install juggling hell if you're going disc based and even worse if you want to go mainly digital with those 80-100 plus gb file sizes.

PS4 has exclusives and Japanese games, Switch has Nintendo games and is kind of portable, PC does everything the Xbox does better plus you need one anyway.

AWESOME! ... It is incredible the way the Xbox One X makes such HUGE improvements in both Xbox One games AND Xbox 360 games! ... When I saw that completely new textures were used to showcase the games and the higher resolution in 4K and 1080p resolutions, I was stunned!!! Xbox One X is AWESOME!
Sony did a terrible job this gen with removing heat. Probably because of the 360 red ring disaster Microsoft really went all out with their heat sinks.

Do you know that PS4 Pro is already out for a year, yes? :) One year. That's how much time needed for MS to give an answer which is stronger. But Xbox will never be an option for me for example, because I prefer to play the exclusive titles I can't play on my PC. Xbox One X is like being rich in an island, where you can't buy anything.

I don't even play on console anymore (yes I know, they do some PC stuff as well) but I still watch DF content. I just like all the geeky in-depth reviews you do. I never use to appreciate this kind of analysis until AFTER I got into PC gaming and started watching some Gamers Nexus stuff. Even then I didn't fully appreciate the in-depth technical stuff Gamers Nexus was talking about until recently.
I am still interested in these console analysis reviews, I may jump back into console gaming, who knows. I'm just a gamer nerd.

CaptainT $500 can be a lot or a little depending on what product you’re talking about. In terms of the Xbox one x, I’d say $500 is reasonable considering what a PC with equivalent specs would cost. people bought the pro most because of good exclusives. xbox have zero. a windows 10 gaming pc and ps4 pro = best of both worlds. you can play pretty much everything. even zelda botw using cemu. all xbox games are on the microsoft store on windows 10 (most of them are pure garbage tho)

It is without a doubt that it will get a price cut by this time next year, also the game library for the OneX will be much richer than it is right now. How to be a Sony Fanboy:
1- PS4 is sacred. is the best of the world, it has no flaws or issues. Anyone who states any PS4 lacking department or issues is a corporate slave paid by microsoft.
2- Excusives are everything and are the only games worth to play and the only reason to buy a console.
3- More quantity of Exclusives means better console.
4- Any game is superb as long as it is PS4 exclusive.
5- If an excellent exclusive game is later released on other consoles, is not good anymore.
6- If a game is multiplattform, is non-existent and not worth to play.
7- A true PS4 gamer only plays PS4 exclusives.
8- Backwards compatibility is a shit no one wants to play. But buying PS2/PS3 ports/remasters all over again is awesome.
9- Xbox has no games. all of them are on PC, therefore, they are automatically erased from Xbox.
10 - Better sales means you'll enjoy more your gaming. PS4 is the most enjoyable gaming experience because is selling better.
11 - If everything else fails, just pretend to be a PC gamer that can build a 300$ dual-core PC that is even more powerful than Xbox one X.

I get mine tomorrow, but so disappointed there's no music visualiser! I still use my 360 every week just for that purpose when playing CDs, but it would certainly be nice to see in 4K HDR. Considering the overall development cost of the console, I thought it would be a small but significant thing to add.

Stop talking about 4K and make a video about the benefits the x1x gives to a 1080p screen. Because that’s what the majority of people use, explain why I’d need an upgrade from a normal Xbox even without a 4K tv
But they did mention: you get higher quality textures in enhanced games, games with unlocked framerates run at higher framerates, those with locked framerates run more stable, games with dynamic resolution scaling run at higher resolutions, you get vsync, high quality anisotropic filtering, faster loading times...

Well I upgraded to 4k a year and a half ago. The only screen still 1080p is the one i use to play OG consoles just because I don’t own a tube TV anymore. 60% of the population have at least one 4k screen at home.

Most Xbox One games that are optimized for X are just boosted in resolution and they still try to stick to their TARGET framerate. Meaning that a 30fps game is still gonna run at 30 on the X no matter how "next level" the GPU is. Have you seen how Just Cause 3 performs? Hitman? FPS still dips down quite a bit because they upgraded the CPU only by a little. If they didn't quadruple the GPU power and saved some cash for the CPU, then maybe we would've had a 1080p capable console that's more likely to hit 60fps.
We don't want that. We want our games, in 60 frames per second and in 1080p. (4k if that's possible, but it's not a requirement).
The framerate will stay the same or decrease. Games will only get more demanding from here on out. The OP is right. They should have aimed for framerate over resolution. At a distance, especially when it's not native 4K like many titles, you'll barely notice the difference.
Gabriel Gonzalez sorry man, I disagree, I got a 65 inch 4k Samsung, I prefer 60 FPS all day.
