It's interesting to think that these brainless and embarrassing questions are directed towards 4 of the most supremely respected songwriters and musicians of modern times, individually, as a group and as ordinary people with feelings. It's no wonder they appear to treat the press with Dylan style contempt.
It would be a few more years before the press would respect pop musicians as serious artists. Rock and Roll in general was still seen by the older generation as "that crazy music the kids were listening to" and the Beatles were just another in a long line of silly pop acts.
If they had known at that time that in Russia people bought their albums at the price of a month's salary and recorded them on tape recorders from radio broadcasts of poor quality. Coverage of beatlemania in Russia in 1965 was definitely widespread.
@@bryanweis I have seen photos of the event, it was thought to be taken by a fan who took some photos from over a fence, although grainy, it seems fairly discernable and Elvis and John Lennon can be seen with other Beatle members.
I could just imagine John sitting their thinking: ''No, more devil worshipping, me'' as a 'witty response to such a question but then thinking twice before saying it...
Thank you! It's a wondering interview for me cause I firstly ever heard of the Beatles saying anything about Russia, russians... Three are some legends about The Beatles giving a kind of a secret concert for kids of Soviet communist leaders in 65-66... A funny story))). And another thing I'd like to say - The Beatles were uncomparably famous and popular in Soviet Union. And not less or may be more than in Europe and US! And they are still now!!! It's a fact!)))...
"we haven't go to South America because we think they haven't heard of us" :O. OF COURSE WE HERE IN SOUTH AMERICA KNEW ABOUT THEM! 😭. "We almost went to Mexico!!! " 😭😭😭 (I am from Mexico).
This was the very beginning of Beatlemania. Everyone, especially the press and the critics had never seen anything like this before. I'm sure they needed some time to digest what was really happening during this MAJOR turning point in music and indeed, history. Watch the crowd when these guys were on Ed Sullivan. No one ever saw anything like that before. This was Beatlemania for all to see.
The most interesting question was about their biggest competition in terms of groups, put to Paul, I would have loved to hear his answer but unfortunately it was cut!!
Dave Hull. He was the top DJ at radio station KRLA at that time. He hung out with the Beatles all the time, and had little interviews with them on his radio show.
Long haired weirdos 🤩🤩🤩 I wasn't born in Beatles years i wish I knew what the adults thought of these Legends . Best rock band eva 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Enrico Menconi lol compared to how hot headed they could be, yes, they were very humble. They're Beatles for Christ's sake !!! If anyone deserves to be a tad pompous it's them
That was aimed at the reporter who asked, "John and Paul, do you like Dylan?" And Paul was the one said, "Even George.." to point out how stupid the question was. So, no, it wasn't aimed at Paul and John. And neither of them was a narcissist. They did not have personality disorders for heaven's sakes. They had big egos, but they earned them.
Dylan was genre defining like the Beatles and wrote lyrics that were like poetry. Some don't like this voice much, others do, but his songs are undeniable!
Ringo maybe my smile.......it's embarrasing just to watch him try and be funny. He always tried to be like the other three, but somehow just doesn't fit in in certain respects...like the humor department.
Seriously? Ringo's hilarious and I don't think he stands out negatively at all. He fits right into me and he is legitimately funny. Even John thought he was a crack up.
Ringo didn't say much, but what he did say was considered and funny. Imagine how tough it would have been fielding those banal questions - often the same ones at every press conference. The press could have done so much better if they'd asked intelligent questions that could have revealed more about the guys they were interviewing.
considering the reporters had started out by joking that they thought ringo was ugly, i think that explains why he wasn't too enthusiastic to talk to em. actually looked really pissed off if you watch.
"What do you think of groupies? girls that chase groups?"
"I thnk it's terrible", totallly deadpan, Lennon.
They were fantastic.
Each of them have distinct personalities; yet, they complement each other. That’s their charisma that is timeless.
Oh really?
"Even the non musical members of the group"
Damn George punched that reporter's face even without touching...
"All those dumb questions" - John Lennon
Ok, Mr Starr IS the most handsome member. And I will retroactively fight that first guy
me too
Ringo the cutest ❤
"Do you appreciate women more now that you're famous?" ...why would they, exactly?? I don't understand that question
Ive said it before on the LA press conf, that the press is as clueless Now as it was Then....
Not one really good interesting question, MSM CLUELESS then as of course NOW
I'm always struck how inane the questions are, you'd think they'd really try to come up with something original
It appears to me that a lot of the questions were designed to be procative, to get them riled.

“No, Dave.”
Wow what insipid questions from the press.

2 days before this interview, 27 August, they met with Elvis at his Bel Air home.
now discussing THAT would have been a good topic to be raising here..
And not a single photo was taken ! Nobody taped them jamming!
@@bryanweis I have seen photos of the event, it was thought to be taken by a fan who took some photos from over a fence, although grainy, it seems fairly discernable and Elvis and John Lennon can be seen with other Beatle members.
They always had something amusing to say.
"Do any of you go to church"? A sign of things to come.
I could just imagine John sitting their thinking: ''No, more devil worshipping, me'' as a 'witty response to such a question but then thinking twice before saying it...
The sudden sparkle in John's eyes @ 8:55.
He’s so CUTE❣️
he's fake smiling again- loL

No it wasn't. This was 1965, Beatlemania was going for nearly 2 years at this point.
This wasn’t the beginning. At this point we were 2 years into it.
Thank you for spanish subtitules
Cheeky but my GOD stupid questions.
AMO A THE BEATLES...SOBRE TODO A JOHN;UN DIOS😍😍😍😍😍I LOVE BEATLES FOREVER
Just send the kids of those reporters to get good questions. lol.
The most interesting question was about their biggest competition in terms of groups, put to Paul, I would have loved to hear his answer but unfortunately it was cut!!

Poor of them. Only stupid questions 🤦🏻♀️
Giz a ciggie LOL that cracked me up
"Do you go to church?"
"Not lately".
Oh oh.....trouble to come in '66.
@keithhyttinen8275, so true. 😢💔 #Justice4JPM
They deliberately dubbed out the question from the woman reporter which was "do you use doubles'.
Who is/was Dave? lol. "We meet again Dave", "Hi, Dave!"

Crosby? 🤔

They sure were in a bad mood...
@amandas6745, by the time of this interview, the guys were probably pretty tired of press conferences and inane questions.
A total waste of time with dumb, pointless questions. Nobody asks about the songs and how they were made.Very bad!

WOW
You can tell George was taking a shot at Paul and John’s narcissism at 4:56
Zovlo John and Paul Were/Are VERY humble
I think the comment was aiming at the way press mistreats George and Ringo not as an attack on mclennon
Enrico Menconi lol compared to how hot headed they could be, yes, they were very humble. They're Beatles for Christ's sake !!! If anyone deserves to be a tad pompous it's them
No it was a dig at the Reporter who directed the question about Dylan soley to John and Paul. Hence Paul's sarcastic "we all do, even these two"
